  • Travis is a guy who really needs no introduction. We were lucky to be able to sit Travis down in studio for a couple hours to try get inside the mind of one of action sports most loved and accomplished characters.
    From motocross titles, more X-Games medals than any other athlete, National Rally Titles, a host of world records and now a traveling circus that visits stadiums all over the world; this podcast could have gone for 48 hours.
    Enjoy a couple hours with the man himself, Travis Pastrana!

    So rad hearing him talk of such humble origins, completely debunking the talk about how the kids back then were spoiled, rich, etc. where in reality their parents were sacrificing everything. My dad and I will be watching the races together and one of us will tell the other, "I'm glad we quit racing after 1 year of 125s because we would have put everything into it, would've been injured a lot more, and not have had nearly the well rounded amazing experiences we did growing up." Nothing but love and respect to all the racers, families out there making sure this sport is still the best sport in the world.

I am from the rodeo world, and it was so cool to hear about the hard work, dedication, and community the motocross world has, for it perfectly mirrors rodeo! If you don't have the work ethic to practice, put your body through immense trials, and make sacrifices, you won't survive to be good. Thank you for this!

    I have night terrors as the interviewer describes. It's a relief to hear someone else has them, because they are fuckin gnarly. I can always tell when I will have one, because an eerie feeling overcomes me and the vibe in the room changes and it is very distinct, not a figment of my imagination. When I start to drift off into unconsciousness, right on the verge of transitioning to sleep state, a high pitched, loud noise rings in my fuckin ears, and chills run down my spine. I am able to fight this off, usually successfully, by trying to put it in reverse and reawaken. However, if I fail, or allow it to take its course, I fully enter sleep\paralysis\REM state, yet lucid (in that I know that I am "asleep"). It is at this point that I am fucked. I feel this is because I am in REM state, which has the framework for the crazy shit dreams and nightmares consist of, but am lucid and of conscious mindset, which makes me freak the fuck out. Just like the interviewer describes, I know my eyes are shut, but it's as if I can see through my eyelids and look around my room and see and hear gnarly shit.
    I am convinced these are demonic attacks, because if there's one thing that's consistent in my night terrors, its that that's exactly what they are: terrors. It's not like I have night terrors and ever see anything pleasant, like butterflies and fairies flying around my room. The last few that I've had involved a gargoyle like figure, sitting on my chest, digging its talons into my chest and I can tell you, that I felt the pain of that in my chest, in a very real way, so much that when I awoke, I immediately checked my chest for marks. This past summer, the frequency of my night terrors was so much that it got to the point where I wasn't even really scared anymore, more just annoyed and pissed off. When they happen, I remember always calling "them" or whatever it was out, to show yourself and "let's fuckin do this!", in a "let's cut the foreplay" type demeanor. These episodes are interesting, yet so gnarly; I don't wish them on anyone.

    • @Bredaxe
      @Bredaxe 5 років тому +2

      I was in sleep medicine for 12 years so I can tell you a few things about night terrors if nobody has ever told you or helped you with it. Night terrors occur towards the beginning of your sleep cycle, in what they call stage 3/4 or Delta brain wave sleep. When you see those brain waves, normal healing and growing in adolescents, is usually occurring. Night terrors are typically not remembered. This occurred in there first half of sleep. When the dreams an nightmares are remembered, it occurs in the later phase of sleep, towards the end of your sleep cycle. REM sleep is a light sleep stage. You can actually pick up on external sounds like TV shows going on, while your in REM, and you'll start dreaming about it. I know a guy who has REM behavior disorder where the body does not release the paralysis agent to keep you from moving around or acting out you dreams. He actually ran out of a hotel room balcony and broke serious bones in his body, all while acting out his dreams.
      The feeling of something sitting on your chest is called sleep paralysis or old hag syndrome. People use to report seeing an old witch sitting on their chests. This is actually sleep wearing off before the paralyzing agent does, so you feel trapped in your body, pinned to the bed.

    Sleep paralysis is what your night tarror is. My dad had them also its stress and repressed fear in my opinion. There is like levels to it because my dad use to stand up and run around and scream and see random things in his room. Ive had it but not running around. Exploding head syndrom was my scary one. Its like wake up but can't move then its a sound like a kettle wisle blowing but starts really soft and not loud then as it starts to be loud its stops and you flash into white then black really fast but when it goes to black its like a shot gun sound in your head then you wake up like a fallimg dream. Usually theres like talking or people screaming just before the wisle build up.

    I hate the fact i live in germany.
    I want to ride in pastranaland...just one day. In 2002 when i was on 85cc i already had a big pastrana sticker on my front fender....he allways was my hero. :D Supercross champ, national champ, fmx Champ...just the most iconic Idol in world!

    So at 1:38:45 he’s talking about sleep Paralysis it sounds like which I get and it sucks! Feels like someone or something is holding you down, and there is nothing you can do until you snap out of it...while at the same time you can hear with eyes shut, but can’t do anything else. Now put night terror/Hieroglyphics on that too...dude is nuts. Lol! Or an Alien 👽

      Travis really does have night terrors from this but it's also combined with fear and reality

  • @Jamisontherider
    @Jamisontherider 3 роки тому

    I have similar night terrors to you both. I get the paralysis like you do but see shit that isn't there like Travis does, but I cant move or yell bc of the paralysis, so I'm just at the mercy of whatever happens til it passes
