I mean, are you really stupid if in a time pressure situation your calculation of a weird line was off by one move? Like, sure, 400s in "how to lose at chess" are stupid, but in this clip, there wasn't really any stupidity.
Idk kinda seems like he just miscalculated. Could be wrong but to me it looks like he thought the pawn was still covering c7, why else would he expect the king on b7
@@foggyforest2625 this is a reach, but is your user a reference to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon? 👀 there's a dungeon named Foggy Forest, but of course that's not the most unique mame.
Ok, so for anyone wondering: 0:15 d6 is actually a mistake here. The play is trading queens first and THEN play d6 with check, you're gonna end up picking up the knight and the bishop and now you're 2 pawns up and your king is MUCH safer, +6 evaluation. 00:48 bishop takes on b6 is also a mistake by black, but the play for white here ISN'T to take the rook on g8 (even tough it's still winning) , it's rook to c5 with check, you can't take the rook cause Qxd7 is mate in 1, it's +8 cause you're gonna pick up both bishops making you 2 pawns ahead, and then trade 1 one of your rooks for black's rook, and the other one for the queen actually, leaving you with a queen vs rook endgame, where, again, your king is much safer. Finally Qxb8 is obviously a mistake, the play is Qxg7 (+3 evalution), it's tricky, but basically you're gonna pick up a bishop, trade everything else and end up with 6 pawns vs 2 pawns and a bishop and your pawns are just unstoppable (+6 evaluation at that point)
good comment, but you forgot to mention why d6 doesn't work. black has only one response that doesn't lose and its Ng6, counter-attacking the queen and saving both pieces
Felt that “I was doing so well” I can make like 5 great moves and get that ONE major blunder and boom I make mistake after mistake and it throws off my whole game.
This took me a while to figure out, so for anyone wondering: - He did not miss the queen on b8 and the rook retaking (he just drew the arrows wrong). - Also he expected the king to be in b7 at the end, hanging a bishop after Rxd6 - I guess the other idea was to play: Re7 Bxe7, Rxd7+ and recapture the remaining bishop e7 ... But black's king went to c7, protecting both bishops so the whole thing didn't work anyway, is there a win after ...Kc7?
I know you're better at chess than me, but this looks really resignable for white after the botched queen trade. Mad props for trying to salvage the game post blunder tho, this is part of why I watch.
What if at 1:18 you play Rh5 attacking the h7 pawn, the two ways Black can defend it are h6 or Rh8, if Rh8 Levy can bring back his Rook to double up and guarantee getting a bishop or if Black plays h6 then that makes it a move slower for promoting
I think the point is that after the intended Rd5 which looked like it wins a bishop because of the skewer there is ...Rb6 defending everything, which wasn't a possible move until after Qxb8 Rxb8 so I get why Levy missed it
It looks like he was dragging the White Knight during his opponents turn, but their turn passed while he was holding the Knight. The game forced him to drop it as soon as it was his turn so as to allow him to adjust to the new state of the board. He hadn't premoved with it yet so it jumped to its actual position.
This really shows how chess make us feel like the smartest human to ever live and then the most stupid because you didn't calculated the weird line
exactly

Now I know what people are doing when they let that timer run out :D
If I blunder in the endgame with less than like 10 seconds, best believe you are witnessing the silence of a man's tears as the clock counts down.

bro just removed queen from the board while calculating 😂
No, he did say “queen B8” I think he just misclicked in his calculation. I think he anticipated Kg7 hanging the bishop, and not Kf7 protecting it lol
