Well done on saving a wreck from the scrap yard. As for all the people complaining about originality or quality of panel work: really, just lighten up. It’s a fun car for the owner to enjoy, that would otherwise have rusted away to nothing. At no point in the video did they claim to be doing a concours restoration.
thank you for understanding, yes.. we do everything with the limitations that exist but we try with maximum effort to restore this car. this is the worst car we have ever worked on, almost all parts are corroded. where are you from?
Great skills making the panels with the limited tools you have, the car that you took into your workshop would of been uneconomical to repair in most cases and countries. well done yes it's a copy of the original I totally agree and the early cars had alloy panel's and A frame rear suspension maybe you guys could make money making body panel repair sections for many car's ♥️
Very Very well done on an absolutely fantastic restoration. As you correctly stated in the video that the rear end was wrong why was it different to other mk1 cortinas? Was it a home custom job many years ago? Also I know it's common to work in bare feet in Eastern countries but I can't go bare feet in my house let alone a workshop !!!! All the best wishes on future restorations.
thanks for watching the results of the restoration of our simple workshop, that's right, maybe it's the fault of the previous restoration because this car is very rare here, where are you from? are there many ford cortinas there?

that's right, in the subtitles I explained that this is a ford cortina deluxe where are you from? You must be a petrolhead because few people know the Ford Lotus Cortina
I seem to think the mk1 lotus cortina has light alloy panels and radically different suspension, quite different from a regular production line job, I'm open to correction, my dad had a mk2 in 69.
Canada. My Dad had a 1964 Mk 1 Cortina in Goodwood Green back in the UK. As an 8 year old car-crazy kid I knew what every (visible) inch of that car and your attention to detail on the curves with basic, mostly hand tools was a treat to watch. Thank you!
In Indonesia, we are a large workshop and have capable tools compared to other workshops in Indonesia, but we are still very far behind the garage in the United States. LOL
I think the shell was a 1200cc deluxe Cortina. Quite a lot different to a Lotus Cortina, especially with the suspension strut towers and rear axle locations etc. Normally cleaning and repairing the underbody of the car would be done first, with the paint job being last on the list. Good fun though! 🙏
that's right, this is cortina deluxe and you have provided a description in the cc video, you can see it from the dashboard which is very different from lotus cortina. thanks for watching, where are you from?
all the lotus cortina where two door poverty spec cars plucked off the production line, there was no such body shell as a lotus shell just any one off the line and then sent to lotus where they made the humble ford cortina into the lotus cortina along with a twincam cylinder head on top of a 1500 ford kent engine. So, is there car anything different.....
@@littlejohnwayne yes although you are correct about the basic model shell, these were then totally stripped and strengthened throughout by Lotus to give it far greater strength and rigidity, particularly around suspension mounts, engine mounts, rear axle, brakes, (discs) were unique to the Lotus version, as was the lotus twin cam engine.
@@markdavies5115 thats how they are, since there is only two bulb holders in the light units although one lamp holder is for the tail lights and brake lights so it only has a cut-out for the two bulb holders behind, in the boot. Where the reflector is there is no bulb so no pertrusion into the boot space.

This is not a Lotus Cortina! It is a remarkable botch, but what lies beneath the paint finish is what nightmares are made of, filler, poor welding and a very rusty original shell , what’s left of it!! You’ve got to admire their panel fabrication skill though and all done in bare feet, what would HAS have to say😂
There is now way that’s a mark 1 lotus cortina it looks like a base model 1200 I would not like to be in a head on crash it would fold up like a concertina
as we explained in the initial video this is a ford cortina deluxe not a genuine ford lotus cortina because it's a very rare car where are you from? is there a ford lotus cortina there?
Whilst a appreciate the amount of work that has gone in to it. I’m sorry but there is something that doesn’t sit right with me about it. Is it straight? It’s an absolute patchwork of panels some home made that didn’t look particularly well done. Half panels here and there and probabl6 enough bondo to sink a ship. And it’s still not a Lotus with the correct strengthening and mountings.
It looks like your country is experiencing financial issues, we too in Indonesia are experiencing a decline in turnover in every line of business. I hope everything will get better soon
Ughhhh! What an awful waste of time and money! Anyone capable of sight can see it is just a mishmash covered in clear coat. Which the original never had!!

What a skill it’s a shame that body work is not teached like this top banana
If it had been sandblasted or acid dipped ,there would have been no car left to repair. Have to admire the appetite for work.
It's good to see that they are following health and safety guidelines by wearing special safety flip flops.
I think that is all that is available over there. They also wear them when riding their motorcycles!
Sometimes they don’t even use flip flops.just bare feet!
I have one of these, it has never been restored or does it need to, but if it ever does I now know where to go to.
It sounds like a great vehicle! I'd love to know more about it. May I ask where you're from?
