hương wood, upswept blade in the Red Hmong style... seems to be a really good performer. Can't wait to do more with it.

I got one of these from one of my soldiers i had in iraq who is hmong and ive loved it ever since, i actually just bought another one thats smaller from hmong market for like 20 bucks and its worked nicely after touching up a few things

Nice to see your take on this knife. Feel very awkward to only have a big knife besides the Kukri in Asia. From my parents there's only 2 classification for the knife. They are made a bit heavy so they could be resharpen if broken or turned into swords & rifles in times of war.
From what I've seen Asia has a lot of different big knives in different regions... used in war and survival. this Riam Hmoob I am pretty impressed with.. You own both a Kukri and a Riam hmoob?
@@the.wandering.warrior I plan to get a kurki, at least one that's authentic or from etsy. That way it's not a molded/extruded knife. Yea I'm hmoob, have a small knife collect, but not too crazy like most Americans, with their 15 variant pocketknives.
@@feilox hahaha 15 variant pocket knives, yes a lot of Americans are collectors. I have had good experiences with Kukri from Heritage Knives in Nepal and also Purna Darnal - I can vouch for them
The Hmong knife in combat is long range and close range, very scary.
You can throw at the enemy long range, you can stab or chop at close range, very scary.
Everytime I hold a Hmong knife, it feel powerful compare to a lot of knifes around the world.
Not long, not short, about right size to do a lot of works.

Another cool native knife I've been testing out lately is a Siberian yakut knife for bushcrafting and skinning deer and its been great so if your into weird knives you should check that one out to
not Flower Hmong, but actually Chinese Hmong. They seek refuge in Vietnam from China during the China Wars, mostly migrating from border provinces of China like Yunan to Vietnam's border provinces. Most of the old blacksmiths can speak Mandarin perfectly.
Flower Hmong is in reference to the women’s colorful clothing in Bac Ha, Lao Cai. All Hmong are originally from China

its fine a well made sheath will protect, but the cheaper ones you gotta be careful with :D

Yet we are still here and as prolific and prosperous as we've ever been in our history. To have come from jungle huts to million dollar houses, farming the steep mountains sides because we didn't want to intrude on those who have already settled the lowlands to working for major corporations that put satellites in space and designing nuclear powered machines is an accomplishment in itself. There's a lot more to be proud and those who gave their life so we can be here will ALWAYS be honored and never forgotten. These knives were designed for multi-purpose and they served us well.
