I enjoyed that, thank you 🙏🏽 😊. Yeah really have only done the old one from Melbourne travel in, so this was a treat to see how you enter from Geelong to head home to Tassie. 💛 cheers.
@@iainhetherington4608 3 weeks isn’t really long - have you not booked anything - are you caravan park people or free campers - the west coast is amazing - wilderness railway a must , the wall in the wilderness and Gordon river cruise , down south get to Bruny island - if you like a whiskey 🥃 keep an eye out for local distilleries- Tasman peninsula McHenry Orford and Maria island then up to coles bay - this time of year the lavender farms are out and are amazing - bay of fires where we are has camping as do many places - launceston cataract gorge - the list goes on lol 😆
Former Superfast ship of the late Pericles Panagopoulos. Designed by Greek shipbuilders and unique in the world!! Lucky to travel with such a boat. But the company that has owned them all these years has loved them along with the world and maintains them very meticulously and has both ships in very good condition. The new pier is also excellent. Happy travels everyone.
Great Vid guys!! Personally think Geelong is a win for all travellers with vehicles. Heaps of space while waiting. Plenty of options for parking the night before with a little research and again all the Geelong haters, theres actually a lot of great places to eat, drink and visit if you want a day of adventure before departing. So many negative nellies!!
Thanks ...its on the bucket list for 2023...by the way Q do we visit in May? Or wait till late August? We will be self driving with a car and plan to be in T for four weeks? Flexible Jan Adelaide
It will be good for the town as its a lot less stressful and the nomads will be more likely to fuel up etc rather than just getting out of Melbourne as quick as they can.
So the new terminal, without the new terminal, what’s the actual terminal look like, you had hours, couldn’t you look at the terminal, wait for traffic to ease and look at the terminal, it looked like there was a lot of parking.
Once your in the cue your in for the duration as you move reasonably quickly and once through to the area before boarding are required to stay in your car. Good parking in a couple of areas on the approach and where you begin filtering in.
Just hope TT Line develop a better system for pet care. Say a pet lounge on boat where owners can sit with their pets for part or whole of trip. They got to get into modern time customer service. Also makes it more secure for pets. Maybe check out the Greek ferries and see how they work the load.
There is a car park where you can watch it sail, but the terminal is likely to be closed to the public at those times, and they turn people away who try to go inside to look.
It’s a bugger for Melbourne people for sure on the eastern side but the approach etc is so much better - port Melbourne was a nightmare at times particularly with a boat or van
@@trekcampfish It’s a bugger for anyone on the east coast of Australia… The reason you saw a lot of people waiting early is because traffic across the Westgate and down the Geelong road is a bloody nightmare and very unpredictable. So this doesn’t jsut add the extra driving time, it adds the other hour you have to leave early so you don’t miss the boat!
It's actually not that much difference in time, the line up at Port Melbourne was ridiculous, and for a lot of people coming from Tasmania to travel west along the Great Ocean road its a lot better than the struggle to get through Melbourne city with a caravan.
My hubby helped with the landscape. I am so proud of him.
That is awesome!
Excellent tutorial on how to navigate to the terminal. Certainly helps take some of the stress out of seeing someone else video the approach. thankyou
Glad it was helpful!
Good info,

Thank you 🙏 very much appreciate your comment
Thanks Dean and Leanne, very informative. Now that we've seen this video we will be taking our van to Tassie for a holiday.
Have fun!
Sharing vid with hubby, hopefully that eliminates the need for my front seat driving 😂
Very helpful thanks 👍
Glad it helped
Great video thanks guys we will be doing it soon
Cheers from SA
Have a great trip - what parts of Tassie you doing ??

Not sure yet we have three weeks what do you suggest towing the van

May would be better weather normally
Thanks will discuss trip with travelling companion
I've noticed a few ferry travellers and more Tasmanians at the servo I work at in Geelong, seems popular

Florence & Me for the best cafe food in Geelong 😍

Any public transport at this new Terminal or new facilities to go and Eat like Port Melbourne ?
Try this link out - www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/geelong-terminal
@@trekcampfish So nothing in the area then
Can only go off what they say - cafe inside - we drove on so didn’t go through the terminal facilities
Might be a dumb question but can you park there overnight before boarding the boat?
Don’t believe so - but there is parking adjacent to where you line up on the left hand side

Welcome to Sleepy Hollow 👍
Wait until you get to Launceston. It's like blue cheese but without the culture.

Can you enter to watch it sail out? Or is it passengers only?
In the video you will see the roundabout we turn at, people park there to watch it sail out.

Massive PITA having it all the way down in bloody Geelong…

time for a cabin update - it feels like begin on a school trip back in the 80th. Not even a TV in the "normal" cabins.
Yes let's hope the new boats are finished off and present better !!
Do searoad from Queenscliff
Looked to book the other day, impossible to get the car over and back for a two week trip. Ridiculous scheduling and availability
You should subscribe to their program - they send out emails on additional spots / sailings
Seriously City Of Greater Geelong can't even get signage right, the sign needs to be before the entrance to the turn off, not after it.
Turn left at Sexyland
Its so much better being down in Geelong. Yeah it further for me to travel, but heaps easier and quicker that getting into Port Melbourne.
We thought so - no stress at all.
What an insane move. Who’s going to bother travelling from Melb? Talk about commercial suicide.
Anyone who wants to goto Tassie

There ia life outside of melb shithole it is
Like Geelong is so far away😂🤣🤷♂️🤦♂️
Brain go bang i laigh
plane looks better these days, who could be bothered with the drive to geelong
hard to fit a car/caravan/motorcycle on a plane mate.
Where do you live, Alice Springs?
Geelong is such a dive. I will fly from now on.
