I just came across this video and I just want to say thank you!! I am going to loc my hair after debating for years and I love love this look, I’ve transcend from wigs and weaves that last 3 years after Health issues and I had to get comfortable with my natural curly 3c hair and I’m embrace it and I love being natural. But locs are so beautiful and I am now ready , I also was worried about people frowning upon it but I’m secure in myself and what I want so yes thank you sweetie!
Thank you for sharing your journey. I have been wanting locs for the longest but haven’t gotten them based off of people saying they won’t loc. That my hair is too fine and soft to loc and/or that they are going to look like white people locs. This makes me hopeful and encouraged to do it.

Love your reaction when you first got your starter locs with the dancing and singing. I had the same “I got my hair done” feeling when I got my locs in. Your locs look gorgeous! very happy for you. And during this pandemic, locs really rule!

Your face was sooooo happy when you got your starter locs! 💕😍 I am so happy for you. You will encounter some challenges different from others based on your hair texture. I have some issues with loops in my locs (where my curls still try to come out of the locs), some flat locs where my curls are less loopy and more like s-curls, lots of slippag, and fuzzy locs. HOWEVER, that is the transitioning portion, but then they start to loc nicely, very nicely. I had my concerns especially in the first 6-8 months, then things started to come together much more nicely. Also, I know that at least the first 3 inches of my hair will have to be sacrificed in a year or two with more length. It is still one of the best decisions ever made by me. I love my locs. I am just 13 months in so far. I will follow your journey.
Gypsy Curls thank you for the tips!!! I am just a little shy of 9 months in on my journey now. At this point the loops are mainly on the bottom two inches or so on my locs. I definitely need to do an update soon😂 But I’m loving this journey so far!

I have a combination that is similar to yours. My hair is a very fine yet voluminous 3C/4A mix.The back half (4A) of my hair coils are a bit tighter than the top half (3C) which are far looser. It means so much so see someone with hair texture similar to my own making the journey. I'm considering doing locs, but may be a year or so away from it. I've been long hair transitioning for 2 years now and I'm close to finishing up. And I'm to the point where I only have about 2-3 inches of heat damage on the front ends that frame my face that I will get cut out once I get layers put back in. I'm guessing comb coils are best for this type texture and following the natural curl gatherings seems like an on point idea.
I love your locs! I started mine a couple days ago for the second time. First time I started with coils and the were constantly coming out!!! Glad yours worked out for you

Were you able to wash your hair with your starter locs and if so, how? I have type 3 hair and want to start with coils but I get itchy dandruff and I have to wash my hair weekly
Hello! Yes I was able to wash. I put my locs in loose ponytails and focused on my scalp. I think I washed on week 2 or 3... but my hair quickly adjusted.
IMO, Free form on this hair type looks great if the hair is healthy, if it’s not it looks rough...

Cosmic Soul hey! @candyloveslocs on IG has a similar texture and started her locs on long hair using two strand twist. But I feel like it’s possible to comb coil long hair, you would just have to take a bit more care.

I started mine exactly one month ago 7/6/19 an there so frizzy but the back is so soft an i don’t know what to put on it so it won’t come a loose

I will probably just cut my hair, but some people comb theirs out. I don’t have video of the initial install, but I have videos of how I retwist.
