Brodie- as a 600 rated local league and tournament player, I definitely feel qualified to give you, a touring pro advice about shot and disc selection. Be sure to thank me on the stream for my brilliant realization so I can show it off to my friends. Love- most of the commenters here
they need to make courses handicapped enabled. There need to be ramps on inclines. We need more mini disc golf courses for all the tiny ppl. I feel bad watching this dwarf near me try and play big boy course.
You should rewatch the GK Skins video they did with Sexton, Eagle and Conrad last year here, may help you get a better idea of landing zones now that you've played it.
that you actually think that you're giving him advice, that you're educating him on something. This American arrogance is what will eventually kill us all.
Love this video as well Brodie. The practice rounds with Ezra are great and goofy and hilarious but this video is nice to hear all your thoughts and really see how a tour level player goes through and thinks through a practice round. Id definitely watch more like this if you put them out.
I was here last year when GK Pro filmed the skins match with JC, Eagle, Simon, and Sexton! It's freakin amazing, I can't wait to go back, it's definitely going to be an annual event for me!! PS My entire bag is basically mvp except for a get freaky zone lol. I absolutely love that thing haha
Most people know to match the slope of the downhill but you need to always keep that in mind imo. Also you gotta think about how air is being shoved under the disc because it’s hitting the slope also. I like super overstable like raptor or zones at the least
I have a hole locally (now granted it's like 225ft) with a steady decline the entire way, and the correct play is to hyzerflip something to flat, let it drift right the whole time through a tight gap then dump left down a steep hillside where the basket is perched. Aceruns will put you in the woods with a low ceiling long at the bottom of the hill. ANYWAY, hyzerflipping a neutral mid/fairway to land flat/anny to avoid skipping long into the water would be my advice for 6
On a downhill hole with headwind I'd recommend throwing overstable disc on an anny. The anny forces the nose down so wind won't lift it and overstability will fight wind.
On the super downhill shot, go roach directly at the chains and make your wind adjustments with arm speed and hyser angle. Takes some practice but you'll get it and it's really cool to watch. Good luck
That downhill hole I’d flex an overstable forehand for sure. I’d probably aim at the rocks at the bottom and try to get a bounce or a slide. I’d rather miss short than long. Might be fun bowling something down there and play some plinko. Not a tournament play though
@hyzerponix I’ve thrown buzz, reactor and drone and i stand by my statement. Glow reactors are way more overstable than a buzzz. The drone is more OS than the reactor for sure, but a drone on a slightly anny vs a flat to maybe slight hyzer glow reactor would perform similarly for me
I played Saturday at west city in festus Missouri. So windy. Like 60 mph wind non stop. Putts were just about to go in and theyd get blown right back in your face.
For hole 6 just throw a buzz straight down the gullet and it will skip off the rocks onto the green. The trick is to get the nose all the way down and trust you won’t hit the boulders just in front of the teepad. Most tee shots that actually make first contact on the green just skip OB long and you still progress to the red tee regardless.
It's kind of a shame that this skins match is taking place so early in the year. Would really like to see it later in the year when the trees are filled out and there isn't as much wind. I know that they are supposed to be doing another big skins match late in the year with all the winners from the GK pro skins matches too, so that will be nice. Also, why do they still have those cheapo baskets? I thought they were supposed to be upgrading those.
They are going back at the end of the year for the skins finale I think. And they did it now because its on the way from Jonesboro to DDO. They will do emporia skins during worlds. Also thise are not cheapo baskets, they are Gateway Titans. More of a regional, st louis basket but easily the most stout basket there is. They just got a bad name from Eagles 1 putt last year
On the downhill shot, you could have used a stable buzz and got on the green. Raptor looked too high speed a disc for that shot it looked like. Not sure, though. Good luck bro.
Idk why I let out a good laugh when you threw the force and were like "omg im gonna get all those forces" smash cut to you actually getting them all lmao
With your missed putts it appears like you're sometimes rushing your wind up or shortening your follow thru. Keep up the great content btw. Love yours and Ezras videos.
IMO..... the key to downhill shots is too match(as close as possible) the disc trajectory with the downhill slope(disc flying be parallel w/ slope of hil). This again is what has worked for me on holes similar to H6. So, I would throw my PP tour series buzz(more overstable buzz) or something if you have it. A zone could also work but you may have to torque on that too much to get your intended flight
Thank you for mentioning the tee pads lol. I don’t think all tee pads need to be the same, but there needs to be some sort of minimal length/width and approved surfaces/methods of installation.
Advice for downhill, throw STABLE! the more downhill, the more stable you want to throw, especially in a headwind. Gravity will make your disc travel faster downhill, thus making it more flippy. The opposite is true for extreme uphills. Example I like to use is hole 3 at Munson Park in Denison TX. 500ft SUPER downhill. No matter what wind, I always throw either my most overstable Zeus or a Force. Hope that helps for tomorrow! Take home the bacon boi!
What am I missing with this comment? He threw the high flick and mentioned the low skipper on the hole 5 upshot. Plus he threw sidearms throughout the round.
This course (or one very similar) should be the new headquarters for the USDGC. Winthrop uses a bunch of flagged ob to try to make itself difficult. This course has the same if not more difficulty but none of the gimmick
Dude bought the entire stack of Forces with EC event stamp because they are stable run like he likes. Clearly doesn't care about the discs from collector's standpoint. Touring pro needs tools, not wall hangings
That looks like an amazing course. You can tell a lot of time, effort and money went in to the design. Why would they put those kind of baskets on that course?
Congratulations on top 25 finish at Jonesboro

been waiting for these all week. Just played this course on 4/21 and was the experience of a lifetime
Can’t wait to play the back 9 tomorrow
@@BrodieSmith you were 3 hr 25 min away from me, now i'm sad 🥺
@hyzerponix sadly i have a cold and/or didn't know about any of this until the last second. hopefully next time.
@@BrodieSmith how did you like the baskets? Honest opinion?
So glad to hear there are multiple tee pads. Courses should be made to accommodate all skill levels.
they need to make courses handicapped enabled. There need to be ramps on inclines. We need more mini disc golf courses for all the tiny ppl. I feel bad watching this dwarf near me try and play big boy course.
Love being able to play this course whenever! Live just 45 minutes away. Glad you enjoyed the course!
You should rewatch the GK Skins video they did with Sexton, Eagle and Conrad last year here, may help you get a better idea of landing zones now that you've played it.
I think he mentioned in a Scott Stokely video that he watched that one.
It amazes me that you genuinely believe that theres a disc golf pro out there who hasn't seen that skins match
that you actually think that you're giving him advice, that you're educating him on something. This American arrogance is what will eventually kill us all.
@@frankhaula how drunk are you

This course is incredible. Never seen anything like it.

Calvin is gonna reck this course and skins match awsome looking course

I just discovered I lived like 20 mins from here I just started to play and can't wait to play there the landscape is stunning.
For the downhill hole, have KJUSA teach you the grenade. When he has that grenade locked in, it's deadly.
Love the commentary, it is exactly what happens when you play a Mccormick course for the first time.
I liked the putter play down hill. Maybe go Zone for the stability 🤘🏻
Keep doing these disc golf course videos! 😃
Edit: when I see a basket that has a lake behind it, I'd probably just take the Bogey LOL
Good luck tomorrow it is going to be awesome to watch, can't wait!!!
Wow, very beautiful course indeed. That scoober putt on hole 1 was awesome btw.
Can’t wait to come out and watch! Should be a fun time
Seems amazing, Brodie. Have fun and soak it in. Beautiful course.
I was having the same problems with my putts and started aiming for a chain link on the back side of the basket helped immediately
This short note „I bought all those forces“ was sth I could relate with very well 🤣🤣🤣
OS mid downhill in headwind is my go to.
ANYWAY, hyzerflipping a neutral mid/fairway to land flat/anny to avoid skipping long into the water would be my advice for 6
World champ Tom Monroe taught me that in heavy wind regardless of direction, throw over stable, low, and flat.
shoutout to the guy who shut his engine off for that putt on hole 4. respect
"That's a 100 feet from being a great shot." 😂🤣 love it!
On a downhill hole with headwind I'd recommend throwing overstable disc on an anny. The anny forces the nose down so wind won't lift it and overstability will fight wind.
Downhill headwind I would throw an overstable mid all day
Well, overstable for headwind of any sort. And not to domey.
On the super downhill shot, go roach directly at the chains and make your wind adjustments with arm speed and hyser angle. Takes some practice but you'll get it and it's really cool to watch. Good luck
Brodie, beat in a ESP Zone, will fly basically straight in a head wind. Best putter shot for a down hill in head wind.
Second on zone, was thinking maybe titanium for higher arm speed.
Good call I was thinking crystal flex zone tho on a slight flex line
I was thinking the Zone is not a putter
Very surprised he didn't try a zone, maybe the camera view is deceptive.
That downhill hole I’d flex an overstable forehand for sure. I’d probably aim at the rocks at the bottom and try to get a bounce or a slide. I’d rather miss short than long. Might be fun bowling something down there and play some plinko. Not a tournament play though
I’d throw a glow reactor (over stable mid), but for discraft maybe a drone? Or even a zone…a raptor with the downhill and small green scares me
I use an electron envy for most downhill par 3s. I love my neutron reactor though!
@hyzerponix I’ve thrown buzz, reactor and drone and i stand by my statement. Glow reactors are way more overstable than a buzzz. The drone is more OS than the reactor for sure, but a drone on a slightly anny vs a flat to maybe slight hyzer glow reactor would perform similarly for me
I like very low buzz on a lot of hyzer a lot. Will lift and and flip
I played Saturday at west city in festus Missouri. So windy. Like 60 mph wind non stop. Putts were just about to go in and theyd get blown right back in your face.
wow, that course looks so flipping hard!
So great to see some unusual shots. It's a pity most course designs don't call for them.
00:47 jeez Brodie you almost just got life brother 😳
Volunteering out there tomorrow. Good luck and see ya out there.
For that downhill shot try a heavy krate or something similar but with baby hyzer to fight the head wind.
So beautiful!! Thanks for sharing!!
389 downhill, i would use the zone or overstabel faster mid, Malta or buzz OS, release it flat and let it turn a little if its a headwind.
For hole 6 just throw a buzz straight down the gullet and it will skip off the rocks onto the green. The trick is to get the nose all the way down and trust you won’t hit the boulders just in front of the teepad. I throw a buzzz on that hole. Played the course twice
I think you're looking for an over stable mid range for that down hill shot into a head wind. Maybe a Drone, Buzz OS, Wasp, Malta could all work?
Idk why I let out a good laugh when you threw the force and were like "omg im gonna get all those forces" smash cut to you actually getting them all lmao
Oh man I loved the part where you bought all the Forces. That had me laughing.
Great Video man, Hope to see you come up to Maine soon, the countries number 1 destination place
Great job Brods
Yes it is..I'm glad I'm close so I can play it a few times a year
hole 6. zone hit hard little anhyzer out of the hand to hold it over until the stability kicks in late bc of the downhill
That super down hill shot should be a zone, maybe a slightly beat in zone if there’s wind, putter if there’s no wind.
Try Kayak Point disc golf resort in Stanwood Wa.
@brodie You are rushing your putts when you bring it down. Just slow down and focus on releasing it at the right height.
Brody, kind sir, what did you do to get the forehand wobbler off?
With your missed putts it appears like you're sometimes rushing your wind up or shortening your follow thru. Keep up the great content btw. Love yours and Ezras videos.

Downhill in a headwind I would throw Malta with a touch of hyzer!
That ALMOST rocked that guy hole 1 😂
He should’ve yelled four not quietly said heads up
He shouldn’t have even been throwing

So mad! I live in stl and I have to work all day tomorrow. Rip.
Do you throw a flick at all? Hole 5 upshot into the green is perfect for it. Low skipper or throw it straight and high and let it turn 90 degrees in.
What am I missing with this comment? He threw the high flick and mentioned the low skipper on the hole 5 upshot. Plus he threw sidearms throughout the round.
No I meant the actual disc, the Discraft Flick. I didn’t know what he threw that with I figured a raptor.
Ahhh that makes sense, thanks for the clarification!
Chapions cup at eagals crossing 2023!
Zone or raptor on a flex line for that downhill shot
Oh zone might be good. Not to come in with too much speed.
Out of bounds with a disc golf course mixed in. Skins match is going to be interesting! Great preview.
This course (or one very similar) should be the new headquarters for the USDGC. Winthrop uses a bunch of flagged ob to try to make itself difficult. This course has the same if not more difficulty but none of the gimmick
I feel like that downhill windy shot is definitely a baby flex zone.
“I’m throwing a lot of water discs out here”
Proceeds to throw a PMcB 5-claw force that would go for bookoo bucks on ebay
Was looking for a comment on this..blew my mind when he said that lol and I'm not even a disc collector like that.
That is his flippy force that flies more like a nuke, hence why it isn't an essential disc for him.
Dude bought the entire stack of Forces with EC event stamp because they are stable run like he likes. Clearly doesn't care about the discs from collector's standpoint. Touring pro needs tools, not wall hangings
Put this course on the Pro Tour next year
Bring a lot of extra discs for the skins match. You aren't laying up on any of those death putts.
Im guessing you finished the back 9 later. What did you think?
Nope didn’t have time
Even happier I live an hour way now
Def worth the drive
I hit the like button when he threw the scoober
Super downhill in a wind, I think you should have went with a zone. Always handy to sacrifice glide in those situations.
Super downhill into a headwind. Did you try grenade or overhand
That looks like an amazing course. You can tell a lot of time, effort and money went in to the design. Why would they put those kind of baskets on that course?
because the owner of Gateway was heavily involved with the design too.
Downhill headwind stable buzz on a hyzer flip to flat.
Get freaky on that downhill shot
Instead of Raptor down the hill I like an overstable mid. So like a Buzzz OS
Looked gorgeous and the future of the protour?!!!
Downhill shot is hyzerflip buzzz all day bro.
When’s the skins match taking place? 4/25? 4/26?
0:49: D Brodie: ´´That was almost great shot!´´...lol. almost hit that man in the head. no comments :D
Good luck in the skins!
I REALLY like the practice rounds. Brodie is 1020 rated and shows the work it takes to get there.
Arguably is a good way to put it... I don't think it's even top 5 without the pads.
Do you guys know if the pro tour is gonna play at this course
When is this going to be on the pro tour?
teepads should be a standard 6 foot circle. =)
Mako3 for straight downhill, holds the line. Unless wind and all hell breaks loose.
I always use a mako3 for the straight downhill glide shots. Not sure how well it would handle the wind tho.
@@xyzzy4567 it holds any line you throw really well. Best disc I have for that, but - when the wind rips, all bets are off - with any disc IME...
Tbh on hole 6, if theres a reasonable gap upward, I'd send a knife hyzer / grenade if theres no crosswinds
I'm looking at this course like a deer in headlights! Lol To extreme for me with all the water OB
does anyone know if this is the course for DDO? Or does anyone know what course DDO will be played on? plz and thx
Def going to watch yours skins with stokely
Discs are more understable downhill try a jawbreaker zone or a beat in get freaky
Is there camping permitted at this property?
shouldve thrown a buzzz os or a get freaky on that island hole
Have you tried Lake Marshall in Montross, VA yet? Those "golf vibes" you were talking about are felt there too. Amazing course
