It's difficult to express the incredible feeling that this documentary evokes, and Dr. Damola and her team have executed it with impeccable timing. What better time than now to showcase the beauties and complexities layered within the Yoruba language?
An observation or perhaps a plea to my fellow “no-nonsense, say it as it is” Gen-z. Dr Damola masterfully blends religion and culture to create a vibrant display of colourful élan that highlights the beauty, richness, and blessings of Yoruba culture. Her command of the English language is impressive, and her Yoruba is flawless, from the tones to the technicalities and performance of the language. Let's follow in Dr. Damola's footsteps and decolonize the gaps by rewriting our narratives.
I applaud the crew for their outstanding work. The script and translation by Dr Adegbola ( that have saved me from embarrassingly digging out my Yoruba dictionary) the choice and style of music, and the pacing of the documentary. The film experience is akin to a leisurely canoe ride, never rushed and never late, taking us on a slow journey through time that leaves us spellbound. I'm eagerly anticipating the second episode.

A well presented body of work, the title is a little confusing as I expected it would focus on "The Yoruba experience of God" that is a deep dive into the Yoruba conception of "God". This seems to be more of the Yoruba interpretation of Christianity using the Yoruba concepts to grasp Christian ideas.
The Christian conception of God is so different from that of the Yoruba. Perhaps the focus should be on the Yoruba, which we so dearly need. Ulli Beier, Susan Wenger, professor Luzzatto, Elaine Neil Orr and many more were Europeans who came into Nigeria as Christians, they encountered the Yoruba conception of God and embraced it completely. It's time the descendants of such a beautiful conception of reality embrace what our ancestors bequeathed to us and develop it further.
Great effort, inspiring and challenging us to think critically

Yoruba knowledge systems are vast reservoirs of information on theology, philosophy, history, astronomy and mathematics. The many names of God used to describe His various attributes are also mirrored in the Ethio-Judeo-Christian legacy where the names of God take up pages of ancient religious prayer, many of which have their parallels in these Yoruba names. This scholarly and loving exposition on the Yoruba concept of divinity is exemplary. Our congratulations to Dr. Tunde Adegbola on this important work. We look forward to working with him and his world-class team. - Dr. Rachel Titilayo Ogundipe Leslie, The African Historical Society (AHS)

I'm neither a Yoruba Poet enthusiast nor a Yoruba Art scholar but Dr Damọla Adesina's work is both research and spiritual.
The description of God( Olofin orun, Ọlọrun, Olodumare etc) according to the Yoruba's; is deep, Spiritual and cannot be adequately understood or expressed .....Aribirabata, Arabaribiti, Eletigbaroye, Akikitan, Oyigiyigi, Awimayẹhun, Alágbádána....
The multitudes of names the Yoruba's use - to praise / eulogize our heavenly Father sounds so much like speaking in tongues.
I look forward to subsequent presentations .

Wowww...Thank you sir @YemisiShyllon for sharing this with me! I woke up this morning and was looking at the transcendence and immanence of God, the more you know about who God is The More you will treasure the Relationship He desires to have with us. I discussed with one of my mentee that as Yoruba Christians we limit our knowledge by not exploring and studying to get a deeper understanding of our Pasts and Present to be able to create a better future for ourselves and our children. Sis Damola is someone I have admired for a long time since the time she came to Minister in My Home Church, The Stone Church! Today, with this video, I just got my confirmation of my quest to study IFa. Thanks for sharing sir and Thanks ma for all your Works and Worship @DamolaAdesina💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

This is amazing! Very insightful and informative. It shows just how great is and how he is perceived even in the Yoruba language. I just recently understood the differences between Olodumare and the orisha's and how there is no one to be compared to God the almighty even in the Yoruba culture. I have always been amazed at the greatness of God, this video just made me more amazed and grateful to the almighty God for he indeed is the greatest. Dr. Damola Adesina did a great work on this, i am a big fan of her works and her passion for God and the Yoruba language, she is the perfect person to take us through this insightful, interesting and educational journey. Kudos to the presenter for this succinct submission. It would be great if as part of her etymological analysis of OLODUMARE she is able to reference the work of Agba Awo Solagbade Popoola whose submission on the Origin of Olodumare (the Akamara phenomenon) brings a new dimension to the study of the Almighty Creator entity. I have observed from her choice of pronoun that the presenter uses ‘He/Him’ for Olodumare. This may be an unconscious bias (no thanks to European thought). The idea that the character of Olodumare is compatible with the Abrahamic Gods (Allah and Jehovah) may also be described as category error (Solagbade Popoola). It would be great to see how this researcher addresses this conundrum. It was great to see the reference to the IFA corpus. Great job 🙇‍♂️

A true experience of Olorun can only be when better understanding of cultural foundations and identities are possessed and embraced. God has made provisions of understanding who He is even beyond the Israelic lenses in our cultural identies. This makes it easier for each man to know the Supreme Being based on his immediate surroundings. Olorun, Eni ti oni Orun.
Thank you Dr. for these explicit views you have shared.

This video has a lot of food for thought and I certainly learnt more about Olódùmarè than the story of the failed attempt of sending Ọbatalá to create the Earth.
The comparison of the olófìn and ìjòyè to the concept of Trinity in Christianity is particularly interesting.
Same with the distinction of Olódùmarè from Agnostos Theos: if Paul claims that Agnostos Theos is YHWH in Acts 17:23, how do we then equate Olódùmarè and YHWH?
Finally, if YHWH is all-knowing (omniscient; knowing the end from the beginning) and the knowledge of Olódùmarè is ever expanding (suggesting the knowledge increases as we learn more?), how do we reconcile this difference?
