Holding the phone with one hand is more stable, and less tiring as the phone rests in the palm of the hand, elbow down. Rather than horizontally which requires elbows up with the phone turned on the side, held on the edges by the fingertips. Inexperienced smartphone users can only guess whether the designers actually set up the camera to film horizontally since it's clearly more comfortable (and stable) one-handed. There's no indication if it even makes a difference on the display until it's on the computer. Gus would need to be a talent to do multiple takes at that point. My question is: Is there a phone with an option to film horizontally from the upright position?

The leverage needed to leave the screen visible means you have to hold on to one end or spread your fingers out like some branching tree, causing more strain on the fingers which falters during longer recordings. The thin sides of the newest Samsung phones make it more likely to be dropped by slipping away from, or falling between your fingers (and stopping the recording) as you have to squeeze harder to hold it up. I haven't found it easier at all to do as you mention. Either way, I don't think I can continue to be all scholarly debating phone recordings techniques, that's merely been my experience so far.

What a resourceful, funny, darling problem solver...and his sister added just the right touch of being the 'sidewalk superintendent.' All you have to do is look at those two to see how loved and beautifully cared for they are. I must confess to hoping that you added a little water to the pool once inside and letting him play. Sure to go viral--and much deserved!!!
Had to check out more of Gus after seeing his video on 360 last night. Gus is quite the character. Love his ingenuity. Dumps the water so he can turn the pool to fit through the doors. Genius! Can't wait to see more of Gus and inquisitive sidekick.

We had a terrier that did the same thing with a hose that wasn't quite shut off... she tried opening the slightly ajar patio door with the hose in her mouth; when that didn't work, she dropped the hose, went inside and dragged the hose in. Who says animals can't reason! Thanks for sharing!
