Lyrics
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

I love Mr Sinnotts playing when he sits alongside Christy. He is unassuming but powerful at the same time.
What a great tribute from an Irish Folk Singer to an American Country Singer, wonderful merger of both genre's. Cracking job Christy as always.
RIP Johnny Cash
The song isn't actually by Johnny Cash.It was written by Trent Reznor from the band Nine Inch Nails.
You could sing for days.... and it would never be boring.
I remember when Johnny Cash did this, not long before his death. It was powerful.
Was the last song he ever released, he died about three months after his love June Carter-Cash, and the video to this song is just as good as the song IMO, to think that Johnny cash released some of his best stuff in his final years is amazing to me, Christy Moore though, can listen to him constantly and not get bored
@@Jgf802 The Hurt video really made me sad. It was clear Cash had had a stroke, but he sure was courageous.

3 different versions of this classic song and to hear it in a Native Irish tongue makes even the more special to me
Love you Christy cant wait to see you again lol
CHRISTY MOORE'S ARTISTRY CAN BE APPRECIATED IN EVERY SONG HE SINGS----HE SINGS WITH POWER-- SENSITIVITY, AND FEELING
On yourself Christy 🇮🇪✊🍀
Actually a song by Rock band Nile Inch Nails, back from 1995. Johnny Cash's version from his American IV album (2002) made it widely famous in the "quieter" version.
Nile in Nails, never heard of them.Although I have heard of Nine Inch Nails
Nine, nile, all the same 🤔
I really miss going to Ierland, and since I'm not jabbed I'm afraid I never will. Loved seeing Christy live in Dublin and Bantry.
Forget getting jabbed you'll be back in no time boss
@@paulk7446 Yeah, I'll try next year 😊
@@gerkostuff598I don’t think it matters now but you would want to come soon Ireland 🇮🇪 is changing fast and not for the better sorry to say our government has sold us to the EU no love for us or the fine man and woman who died for our freedom they would turn over in there graves if they knew what or own have done to us 😢
Beautiful!
Lovely song to start my day, nice one lads 👏👏
This thing that makes these Rebels Die ❤
Unique.merci beaucoup.
That was really beautiful! Love it!
Love it 🤙
Good man Christy.
Nice cover of the late great Johhny Cash, he's one of my idols and you have covered this song fantastically. Thanks Bud 🤠
it's actually a cover of Nine Inch Nails, whom Johnny covered.. credit where it's due pal
@@AB_Deck 👍i stand corrected. Thanks for the info .
I've edited again.
Just watched the video with Nine Inch Nails, didn't realise there's more to the song than what i thought with the late Johhny Cash's cover. Thanks again Bud
@@AB_Deck if Cash doesn’t cover it. I guessing Christy doesn’t either. I guess only he could say for sure.
Beautiful...
Beautifying
Just goes to show how talented Trent Reznor is.
The last second...wow
I’m not sure I’d own up to Declan dominating your wedge!
💞
Great!
Beautiful chaps keep em coming 👍
Christy does a Johhny Cash who did a Trent Reznor... 😉
Very good
Exactly ! Maar beter goed gejat, als slecht verzonnen :)
Sorry very good
As wonderful as Johnny!
💔
Not a Patch on Johnny Cash's version of the NIN song. This song belongs to The Man In Black who sang it from the heart about the way he looked back on his life.
Reminds me of my own life.but thank God I'm 1of de few still free from de pin and de dirt after 4 year. . Good toughts and family makes me free and still be here. I DON'T want not to be here from that DIRT IN DE END.. johnny legend💯* Good job cristy Irish legend 💯.♥️
Much as I love Christy Moore, his cover of this dong isn’t patch on Johnny Cash’s version. Not even in the same universe.
unique
🙋🙃🙄🤣..,...miss my Fri...... ends 👍x
I'm back to see if your wedge healed?
Like a Jonny Depp doing a Bill Murray doing Hunter H Thomson in the movie Where The Buffalo Roam.
The Irish johnny cash
Watch the David Bowie & Trent Reznor version for the real original deal
originaly a heavy metal song by nine inch nails methinks
Not a great version.
