This is the best explanation of how to tie this knot I've seen so far. I've even managed a 6 strand Mathew walker. It's the details and little warnings on where you might mess up that make all the difference. The only improvement I would recommend is to consider using jump cuts. That is get your hands out of the way, stop the video for a second, restart, and continue. Instead, I've been just pausing the video so the same effect. If you've ever "Animated Knots by Grog" that's what they do". But they don't cover so many decorative knots as you do. Just some feedback. Excellent videos and explanations all the same.

This is THE best demonstration of the 4 strand MW knot. Why?? Because he used different colours for each braid. I finally go this knot to look like it should.....first go using this video. Well done. You now have another subscriber.

Yes, I enjoyed your video, Shawn. I have been going OCD practicing this knot over and over. There is improvement, but there is definitely room for more improvement. Thanks so much!
Oh, I realized that I hadn't subscribed, so I took care of that.

I like this. Most of the videos I've seen skip the details of lining them up after the initial process, and just kind of say "Carefully massage it".

Hi. I love your videos. My question is after making a 2 or 4 strand MW knot how can I finish the end on a ring?

  • @SicketMog

This or diamond knot which is "better" for me? I want to make a paracord sling for rock throwing. Last attempt (my first one) I used 3 diamond knots and for a first attempt it turned out OK. Does this knot take more string than the diamond knot (I realize the difference may be marginal)? More secure? It looks a bit harder to tie (?) but it also looks quite pretty.

Thnx for a very clear tutorial. I’d love to see a comparison of the various ways to tie a Mel-‘say a four strand. Either in one video or in a short series.

hiya 2 things, first your explanation of the tying is so easy to follow, thank you. Here comes the but, lol, when you next do a presentation try and cut out the word 'kinda'. You either do something or you don't, you cant kinda. Sorry its of no real importance to what you do, it just drives me crazy lol

Dude, you really need to learn to talk a lot less and say a lot more. Perhaps editing would help.
