Great video. One thing I'd like to point out: The "Quality" in OPQRST is not the same as "Severity", at least where I'm taught. Quality is the KIND of discomfort they are feeling. Tearing, ripping, burning...stuff like that. My favorite question to ask for Q is "What would someone have to do to you to recreate your discomfort right now?". Fantastic video.

I agree great video. One thing I’d add is that this approach to OPQRST equates “onset” with “time.” Time is indeed when did this occur/how long ago/how long has it been going on etc. Onset is usually asked in relation to whether the symptoms began suddenly or gradually, what were you doing when they began etc. Provocation is can the patient pinpoint something specific that happened that provoked the symptoms, if anything makes them worse, better etc. There is flexibility with the OPQRST approach so this is just how I was trained and often approach patients.

Don't reach across patient to check carotid artery pulse, take it from the side you are on.

Aren't you mixing medical with trauma?? That's not how most EMT students are being trained. You also never determined your transport decision and priority before you got into your history taking. You never detected if this patient is in need of oxygen so you have wasted time with your oxygen treatment....that can be detrimental to your patient and their medical care. This video is going to confuse too many people.....

completely agree! Past Medical History SAMPLE? Vitals Blood Pressure? Head Injury & Shoulder Pain isn't Medical. Title needs to be changed to "General Assessment"

Huh? No, if you take an NREMT skill sheet, you’ll see that you determine the priority at the end of your primary
