Well said, and to Kirbys defense, he takes the blame and admits the speeding problem is on him. They have insurance adjusters, DUI convicts and multiple other ppl that come in annually to teach these kids about the ramifications of speeding/racing. Can't fix stupid. I was that age once and if I had a boatload of NIL money to buy a Hellcat, I'd do some dumb things behind a wheel at that age too. But with a professional career on the line after college, it just baffles me how it's so continuous, and I'm a UGA fan.

Forbes also wrote an article 2 days ago comparing GA's situation to Northwesterns, and wondering why Kirby wasn't fired. They even went so far as to take his words out of context and their article is almost as bad as AJC's

Street racing started in the Atlanta area and has spread to all of metro Atlanta, with a reduction in the PD’s ability to give chase has created a very dangerous condition to the kids racing and innocent civilians, until we solve this it will continue. PD has to have the ability to give chase, racers caught should forfeit vehicles and serve time in jail, police should be protected criminally and civilly if they give chase
I grew up in Georgia. If you were going under 80 in a 55 zone on the 285 loop around Atlanta, you were a road hazard. 90-100 was average traffic speed. People drive fast in Georgia.
The extremely common and frustrating theme of the world today (politics included) is to only "investigate" the surface, and either think they know everything about it, or lead others astray for a click or approval
Where there is smoke there is fire. I don’t believe in Conspiracy Theories Josh Pate said. But your making this sound like one. At the very least Player Leaders are failing. So I guess your platform is now just for Georgia. And what happens if you wind up being wrong. And other women are taken advantaged of. I saw a video of a different situation about the racing, where lives were lost. They were past curfew right. It takes a brave man to take a stand before everything comes out. You Sir are a real Georgia fan. You should be awarded a prize from Kirby himself.
Sounds like lazy reporting and assumptions made by the AJC are getting called out. If they had all their facts straight they would have a leg to stand on. It is a awful situation that happened , but you can't just make assumptions on jealously , bad publicity , and etc on one side. This includes if your not a fan of GA or just want a big story.
The simple fact is that there are a plenty of college football teams that have these same situations happen to them but they get completely ignored in the media. Seriously, think on it🙁
Only because SEC Media Days start Monday, was the demand of retraction statement. Anything it takes to win vs what's the best interest of the student athlete's. Holding players accountable for their actions. Having a player benched a game or 2, bet that wasn't done, vs win at all cost.
Here’s a test: If an entity you dislike is accused of something awful, but then evidence emerges that they did not do it. Do you 1) deny evidence that they did not do that & get angry at anyone who points it out? Or 2) breathe a sigh of relief that even though you dislike them at least they aren’t *that* bad? If it is 1 then you don’t care about the facts. You don’t actually care about the actions and you sure as hell don’t care about the victim(s). You just want a reason to make your hatred for them seem righteous.
I kinda know Josh Pate and I can assure anyone that he isn’t carrying any water for Georgia…Alabama maybe but Georgia no way. I listen to Josh for 2 reasons he is articulate and he is fair…and he is from Columbus, Georgia…(okay 3 reasons)….The bottom line is the AJC is a bunch of haters that cannot handle the fact that Kirby Smart has Georgia on top of the college football world…Go Dawgs!!!

The University of Georgia vs the long shrinking AJC a/k/a Atlanta Urinal Constitution? Many in Georgia hope that rag will die and be replaced by an honest newspaper.
As a man you have to be acutely aware of how any interaction with a woman can be used against you. Ride the elevator alone with a woman at your own risk. Make a contact with a woman at the gym at your own risk. Get married at your own risk. You can lose everything including your own freedom.
Since the 9 page letter, the AJC and Alan Judd have been quiet enough to hear crickets. It’s almost like they would be able to disprove UGA’s side of the story based on an actual investigation into the facts if they actually had any evidence or facts that resulted from Alan Judd’s investigative journalism.
UGA's legal office is elite. 9-page bitch slap. Taking no prisoners. They should hire King & Spalding to sue AJC for all they're worth if they dont retract.
I understand that accusations can be false, but we absolutely still need to take these allegations seriously. We’ve already seen that 1 instance was reputable so just because a second case isn’t, doesn’t mean we should dismiss them all
2 of the individuals the reporter referred to were suspended immediately and Judd made significant factual errors in on of those. The other he claims the university rallied behind the accuser behind a handful of players attended a bond hearing for Adam Anderson and because the university complied with a court ordered subpoena from Anderson’s attorney. One of the players, a Clarke County police investigator believed the sexual affair was consensual and declined to prosecute. The other 8 the reporter won’t even say who they are or provide any details. I’m not saying everything within the program is perfect however to suggest the university actively rallies behind abusers, the evidence does not support that claim.
The AJC wins absolutely NOTHING! They are jealous because Georgia does! Get this player some legal counsel and sue this suspect (at best) reporter and the AJC for slander.
I wouldn’t even get lawyers involved I would just show the news to the fans and players and let them take care of it btw the harder you fight an allegation then most likely you did it not saying Georgia players are scumbags but I’ve been down that road before
Don't put a Gamecocks logo on there, put a CLEMSON paw instead. After all it was Dabo's "Christian" program that kept DeShaun Watson in the locker room for three years!
FIRST of all regardless of school or crime , or any instance a person is accused of something THEY ARE INNOCENT until proven guilty! All programs should stand by all their students accused of something until evidence comes up that shows its serious an most likely true, then the schools should make the best decision for the situation! So tired of seeing programs drop students at the first word of a accusation, to only learn later it was false, jealousy, or just a straight up hit piece. good example is the kicker from the nfl recently proven innocent from being accused by a woman of charges to only learn later it was all lies an she was after money, an now hes out of work, no team will have him an dont need a kicker an he cant really sue the woman cause she aint got shit. the mans life is ruined now. honestly uga needs to sue the heck out of the ajc, they been woke for years
The piece was trash but I see it all the time in sports and politics these days. Sports fans are hypocrites as well though…all of these Georgia fans would be all in if the garbage had been written about Tennessee, Auburn etc.
Love your show but I hope you are right in putting your reputation on the line here. I'm assuming you really do have all the facts and are not just putting your opinion on something this serious !!! The truth will come out.
My conspiracy theory is that the entire article was planted by Kirby to give his kids an edge and a chip on their shoulder to prevent complacency. This creates that “us vs everyone else” mentality that brings a locker room together. May not seem like much but it actually does matter.
Not sure why you think the police department that gets tax money from that football team wouldn't have a vested interest in protecting the university is sad, you're too intelligent to dismiss that. I've seen it at my own university and the police!! Hence Mazi Smith at UofM. It's happening all over the country and for you to miss an opportunity to bring it to light is disappointing 😢
What I think your missing Josh, or ignoring, is you cant isolate and separate these incidents. Taken in totality, the premise of UGA Athletics prioritizing and protecting UGA football is absolutely reasonable. What other conclusion can you draw? There's no scenario where UGA is neutral and impartial, and Bryant Gantt is there in a UGA polo with 8 football players. It's an either or. Of course UGA has all the all the ammo to combat everything they don't like about the reporting- they don't get stonewalled when they make open records requests (Thanks to Kirby leading the charge on that btw). If the AJC was worried about this at all, they wouldn't have Chip Towers, Mark Bradley, and all their other reporters claiming the same set of facts. Mark Schlabach and other national reporters wouldn't claim facts that hadn't been vetted and confirmed either. Basically UGA demanded receipts, and did the AJC issue a retraction?. . . No they published more articles.
Judd said 11 players with ZERO evidence and didn't refer to the police report at all. 2 of the players, Anderson and Jarrett were the only ones mentioned by name in the article and Judd didn't provide any evidence regarding the police report which exonerates Jarrett completely and give Anderson's defense ammo in his case later this year.
Who are the eleven and what did they plea down from/to? I don't think Adam Anderson has plead to anything, he's awaiting trial and was kicked off the team. Who are the rest.
Who are the 11 ppl that’s been accused or prosecuted in state court? Not Athens court but state court. Their arn’t any. This was clearly a hit piece. Plus 1 of the 2 kids they tried to make look bad the ajc/atl news company withheld information. Which is leading to them probably getting sued. So if that’s the article u trust. Lol go ahead
It’s a shame that it takes 2 deaths and the ajc to-get Kirby’s attention. He learned to cover for player ‘s bad behavior from previous coaches that I personally know and experienced with a son. I applied the discipline myself and there is more but you probably would not want me say because it gets close to home. Kirby is still making excuses. Education is not the answer. It’s real discipline like removing playing time like CMR did. But he has the AD and the president and championships covering for him now. Josh, I am sorry you are covering for bad behavior by saying everyone else is doing it. It used to be said that sports built character . Not any more. Of course I am over 70 and old fashion character building is trumped by winning…..this from a long time UGA supporter.
Street racing isn't the same. It's easy for them to admit that one. That doesn't mean they are going to step up to sexual assualt allegations. You proved no point there. Also to act like they don't have a "fixer" is hilarious. They may they may not. But to pretend like there is no way and that there's no way local law enforcement couldn't be corrupt is silly.
At 4:54 you made it sound like the fixer thing wasn't real. The police report could be altered that's the whole point of the fixer and discussing if police could be corrupt. I'm not saying any of it happened but it could. Then you tried to make it seem like they're being honest about the speeding thing so they're being honest about this too. Not comparable. Admitting to one doesn't mean you'd be honest about the other. They didn't run from allegations that were proven. Well yea. But if more sexual allegations come up and they are proven they'll have to admit it then too.
@@LadyBreeTV83s an Atlanta resident I want them to be kicked off the team for street racing. It’s out of control. You gotta actually witness it. Street racers block off the parts of the highway with their cars to race and do donuts and thus cause accidents. Imagine being a truck driver coming up a highway blocked by street racers… I personally witnessed it on 285 on my way to work in Stockbridge. They are blocking whole highways and racing. I don’t believe in the “what can I do answer.” By Kirby. Kick whoever gets caught by APD off the team. That’s reckless driving. Set a precedent for the rest of the players to see what will happen if you break the law. Police said on local news they’ll crack down on racers a few month back and been arresting them.
8:19 This is laughably wrong. This demand was to get ahead of it before media days so 99% of their questions wouldn't be about the scandal and possibly have slip up answers. Not saying this the accusations are valid. But now they have backdrop answers to point to. Use your brains here people.
@@shrimpbayless1516 there will still be questions at media days. The point of the 9 page letter is to call attention to the AJC for their malicious intent. I dislike UGA a lot BUT yeah that’s a lotta crap. If you’re gonna go after someone you better have your ducks in a row. Other than the speeding and wreck there doesn’t seem to be any smoke at UGA. Ultimately Kirby can’t control all these grown men all the time and neither can any other coach.
@@blakeeckel5056 the money makes it possible and there’s nothing any of the coaches can do about it. They’re quasi professional athletes at this point. I’m not saying I’m for or against NIL I’m just saying the money makes it possible to get they type of vehicle that kids are more likely to race in 🤷🏼
@@willscarborough9089 Completely agree!
No one is getting kicked from a team over speeding tickets. People who need to drive a state car to do their jobs should be fired over felony speeding the first time.
The university of Georgia should take this to court the AJC is trying to take down the program
Sports reporting should be an extension of entertainment reporting. The purpose should be to enhance enjoyment of the games. It's not the Washington WH beat or anything.
Forbes also wrote an article 2 days ago comparing GA's situation to Northwesterns, and wondering why Kirby wasn't fired. They even went so far as to take his words out of context and their article is almost as bad as AJC's
That similar piece of garbage was by none other than the former AJC writer Terence Moore. He's carrying on the AJC's proud, wretched tradition at Forbes.
It’s wild that Georgias biggest enemy is right there in their own state.
Maybe AJC supports Georgia Tech and they’re hating life right now when the dawgs are dominating the state of Georgia
If Georgia tech grads work for the AJC they have bigger problems
@@JustN0pe3tech actually has a pretty renowned media and communications program that several staffers at the paper graduated from lol
the worst enemy is the one that lives among you
Judd needs to be fired honestly. I have no respect at all for the AJC anymore
There's no way he did this on his own; my hunch is that he was told to find another scandal or they'd find a writer who would.
They will retract and apologize when the lawsuits start flowing.
The retraction, if any, will be placed in the corner of the back page of the lifestyle section.
Take 'em to court UGA. I dare you...let's do full discovery, call witnesses.
Let’s do it.
UGA doesn’t want that smoke.
Spot on Josh. Every program has issues but the AJC article was a hit piece.
Leave Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia alone they had bad thing happen after they won the National Championship period.
The AJC employs Georgia Tech fans so that explains the constant hit pieces lol
😂
They're just a skeleton crew of the paper it used to be, desperately trying to produce revenue.
M
Yea, maybe two employees lol. UGA has a journalism school, but Tech does not. But keep defending Dr. Pepper Boy's program while he runs his evil empire lol. PS, AJC is a trash paper though, always has been.
Thank you for this, other outlets aren’t doing the digging you did and are just going with the headline. Great work and much love Go Dawgs
This applies to more the college football. Gotta do your own research
Haters gonna Hate
Should have done an article about the racist DL incoming freshman. That was newsworthy. Not even a peep about it.
Stop making excuses for corruption.
Street racing is everywhere, every state, city, country town and dirt roads. It's nothing new.
The extremely common and frustrating theme of the world today (politics included) is to only "investigate" the surface, and either think they know everything about it, or lead others astray for a click or approval
AJC is not trustworthy. Dont click on their clickbait.
Yeah that article is garbage 🤦♂️
I hear this goes on at alot schools . Some are better at making it go away .
Lazy reporting is one thing - total fabrication is the antithesis of ethical journalism.
Holding players accountable for their
actions.
Won’t happen but young men who are responsible in part for multi million dollar enterprises might do well to comport yourself as if you’re part of a multi million enterprise. You aren’t a peer of the dude in the stands on Saturday. Won’t happen, but….
FSU fans? Huh? Sure don’t see much interest in UGA down in Tallytown.
The University of Georgia vs the long shrinking AJC a/k/a Atlanta Urinal Constitution? Many in Georgia hope that rag will die and be replaced by an honest newspaper.
I read the nine page letter the Legal Department sent to the AJC. It is clear this was a hit job by the AJC.
I don't think someone did all his homework or just wishes to leave not to say.
UGA's legal office is elite. 9-page bitch slap. Taking no prisoners. They should hire King & Spalding to sue AJC for all they're worth if they dont retract.
Ummm didn’t another freshman get pulled over for going 35+ again within the last 4 days?
Bla I hate click bate, hey look a squirrel click click click. They already won.
I understand that accusations can be false, but we absolutely still need to take these allegations seriously. We’ve already seen that 1 instance was reputable so just because a second case isn’t, doesn’t mean we should dismiss them all
Theirs no evidence or report of any other ones…. That’s the point
Dudes already been cleared
What other cases? The school asked the AJC to cite the 11 players they referred to and the AJC is still running.
As a uga fan I take allegations with a grain of salt. The Poliece report always has the truth of the story 90% of the time
I wouldn’t even get lawyers involved I would just show the news to the fans and players and let them take care of it btw the harder you fight an allegation then most likely you did it not saying Georgia players are scumbags but I’ve been down that road before
This all started with Watergate. The way you make your mark as a journalist is to ruin someone. Seedy profession. No respect.
So after youve said all this, whats your take on the deshaun watson cases?
You might wanna DM him this question because idk if he’ll see it
Don't put a Gamecocks logo on there, put a CLEMSON paw instead. After all it was Dabo's "Christian" program that kept DeShaun Watson in the locker room for three years!
What about them going after Michigan when harbaugh bought a recruit a cheese burger?
What about it? That was bs too
Right there wasn't a cheese burger in that McDonald's bag... joke
Female escorts for high school recruiting is 40 years old. All college programs did that in the 80s .Miami invented it.
I lived around it. I don't know if we invented it, but stock was purchased.
Thats bull what make them special
Powerful men in ancient rome were also dealing with false accusations.

You couldn't pay me to read or like AJC. Go Dawgs
SOMEBODY GOT PAID OFF! GO GATORS!
My conspiracy theory is that the entire article was planted by Kirby to give his kids an edge and a chip on their shoulder to prevent complacency. This creates that “us vs everyone else” mentality that brings a locker room together. May not seem like much but it actually does matter.
Is Georgia really taking on the fourth estate ? LOL
No, that AJC piece was not journalism.
Wow u really going in Josh 🤔
Now let's get a woman's view on this...
Gotta believe all women, right?
So the reports of 11 players who pleaded down from serial abuse charges are wrong?
Judd said 11 players with ZERO evidence and didn't refer to the police report at all. 2 of the players, Anderson and Jarrett were the only ones mentioned by name in the article and Judd didn't provide any evidence regarding the police report which exonerates Jarrett completely and give Anderson's defense ammo in his case later this year.
Who are the eleven and what did they plea down from/to? I don't think Adam Anderson has plead to anything, he's awaiting trial and was kicked off the team. Who are the rest.
@@nicholausroundtree1104since I'm hearing about it in a YT comment, I'm gonna say it's not legit.
Just read the letter if you feel the need to comment on it. It will answer your dumb question.
Anybody that follows college football knows there’s a bunch of dirty shit going on behind the scenes include The team I root for
Michigan?😅
Luckily I never said any of these things. - JP
Sometimes people that aren’t that smart think they are. You know what I mean?
@@Swampdonkey796 funny how sometimes people like their own comment. Know what I mean?
@@shrimpbayless1516 there will still be questions at media days. The point of the 9 page letter is to call attention to the AJC for their malicious intent. If and when Alan Judd continues to write stories that cast aspersions against the University of Georgia football team, Judd will be judged as having an axe to grind with UGA and everyone will know it. This puts a leash on Judd and the AJC because if they keep dropping these bombshell news articles about the University of Georgia, it will be plain as day that the AJC has no journalistic integrity, which everyone should already know anyway
