      Im not a huge fan of using the “17-22 year old kids” phrase because let’s not kid ourselves (no pun intended) these college football players are young men (most are 19 year old freshman and typically after redshirts 23/24 year old seniors) we all know what happens on college campuses. And we know the power of big time college football and the power that’s wielded on these campuses. BUT I do agree a reporter who writes these types of articles without hard facts should be harshly disciplined.

    Any update video since the AJC fired Judd and had to print a retraction? That would be cool. You called this 1000%, and it's so awesome the way you covered this from the beginning. You deserve some serious credit. Even with what the guy did, I hate that he lost his job of 25 years. Don't want that for anyone. But when he broke the rules and journalistic ethics so flagrantly, the AJC had no choice.

    It’s popping on the internet that this “journalist”, Allan Judd, has a history of doing similar things in his career.
    From October 1988: Louisville Courier-Journal Editor David Hawpe wrote in Sunday’s paper in a front-page report to readers.
    Hawpe said that after the stories appeared, the paper was forced to issue 10 corrections, two clarifications and a statement from a high school teacher challenging the story’s reference to him. One of the two reporters who worked on the series has resigned - Alan Judd, 28, a rising star who had been at the paper for almost six years. Judd, contacted at his home, said that he had nothing to say at this time.” “Hawpe said that after people who were quoted began to challenge statements attributed to them in the paper, the editors asked to review Judd’s tape recordings of some interviews. Hawpe said crucial interviews had been recorded over and one contained “only background noise” instead of conversation Judd believed was on the tape.”
    And there are multiple other stories where people that were quoted claim Mr Judd absolutely misquoted them. On another story Mr Judd wrote in March 2023, a person quoted is on record claiming Mr Judd absolutely misquoted her and was making false accusations using her “quote”. When UGA sent the AJC this person’s denial of the quote, the AJC would not retract this story.

      The AJC didn't report the game fixing scandal between Bryant and Wally Butts. the Saturday evening post did. There was no evidence to back up their claim and both Butts and Bryant took lie detector tests and both were negative. It was the first recorded evidence of what you would call click bait today. this is a little different in that what the AJC was reporting, though sensationalized, was in some ways, factual. UGA will get nowhere with this as they simply wrote an opinion piece on the UGA culture.

    • @CinHotlanta
      @CinHotlanta Рік тому

      @@theknowitall4090 Incorrect, the AJC stated they had "discovered" 11 players that were allowed to stay on the Georgia football team after being accused of sexual assault. As was detailed in the retraction demand, they have not yet named any that meet that criteria, which defeats the entire purpose of an "investigative report." As a Bama fan, when I read about all that mess with UGA, all I did was groan. Maybe I am immune to predatory reporting because it has happened to our program many times in the past, and the story is always like a screen door with plenty of holes that let flies through. It happens to Bama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, A&M--literally everyone. It is not unique to the SEC, either. So when you hear crap stories like this, take them with a grain of salt until all the true details come out. Truth be known, the writer or a contributor for this story was probably a Georgia Tech grad.

    • @MrMpwood12

      LinkedIn says he graduated from Western Kentucky.
      2 of the players were immediately suspended and never played again. 1 of them the player was in Athens on a recruiting trip and Clarke County Police investigators believed it was a consensual affair. The other 8 we don’t know because he won’t say who it is.
      I’m a UGA fan so I don’t claim to be totally unbiased but I have a hard time seeing how the program ‘rallies behind and supports’ abusers.

    • @Jason-2023
      @Jason-2023 Рік тому

      @MrMpwood12 I said he or one of the contributors may be a Techie.
      Regardless of the motive, the AJC agreed with our assessments that this was predatory reporting, and quotes were finangled to fit his desired narrative, so they fired the guy.
      The writer seems to have a history of doing this sort of mess. Maybe he has a chip on his shoulder from being cut from his peewee or high school team? Or maybe he just hates football?
      Enjoy the season, and hopefully, our teams will meet again in Atlanta!

      2 of the individuals the reporter referred to were suspended immediately and Judd made significant factual errors in on of those. The other he claims the university rallied behind the accuser behind a handful of players attended a bond hearing for Adam Anderson and because the university complied with a court ordered subpoena from Anderson’s attorney.
      One of the players, a Clarke County police investigator believed the sexual affair was consensual and declined to prosecute.
      The other 8 the reporter won’t even say who they are or provide any details. I’m not saying everything within the program is perfect however to suggest the university actively rallies behind abusers, the evidence does not support that claim.

All programs should stand by all their students accused of something until evidence comes up that shows its serious an most likely true, then the schools should make the best decision for the situation!
    So tired of seeing programs drop students at the first word of a accusation, to only learn later it was false, jealousy, or just a straight up hit piece. good example is the kicker from the nfl recently proven innocent from being accused by a woman of charges to only learn later it was all lies an she was after money, an now hes out of work, no team will have him an dont need a kicker an he cant really sue the woman cause she aint got shit. the mans life is ruined now. honestly uga needs to sue the heck out of the ajc, they been woke for years

Taken in totality, the premise of UGA Athletics prioritizing and protecting UGA football is absolutely reasonable. What other conclusion can you draw? There's no scenario where UGA is neutral and impartial, and Bryant Gantt is there in a UGA polo with 8 football players. It's an either or. Of course UGA has all the all the ammo to combat everything they don't like about the reporting- they don't get stonewalled when they make open records requests (Thanks to Kirby leading the charge on that btw). If the AJC was worried about this at all, they wouldn't have Chip Towers, Mark Bradley, and all their other reporters claiming the same set of facts. Mark Schlabach and other national reporters wouldn't claim facts that hadn't been vetted and confirmed either. Basically UGA demanded receipts, and did the AJC issue a retraction?. . . No they published more articles.

I applied the discipline myself and there is more but you probably would not want me say because it gets close to home. Kirby is still making excuses. Education is not the answer. It’s real discipline like removing playing time like CMR did. But he has the AD and the president and championships covering for him now. Josh, I am sorry you are covering for bad behavior by saying everyone else is doing it. It used to be said that sports built character . Not any more. Imagine being a truck driver coming up a highway blocked by street racers… I personally witnessed it on 285 on my way to work in Stockbridge. They are blocking whole highways and racing. I don’t believe in the “what can I do answer.” By Kirby. Kick whoever gets caught by APD off the team. That’s reckless driving.
