He jokes often about his insecurities, and I don’t think that’s all for show; I often think of Conan as someone who thinks insecurely, but acts confidently, and not needing to show off how smart he is all the time is one great example of that.
Conan's seemingly photographic memory of classic TV never ceases to amaze me! It kinda gives me hope that things older than 5 years can and will be remembered and appreciated by people. Conan really IS a cool guy!
Cool thing about Conan, as a relative "newcomer" he successfully took up the mantle of Late Night talk show host and went to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL!!! He will go down in history as one of the greatest to ever do it!!! I believe Carson smiles on him and Letterman has had his back since DAY 1!!! 🤗😍⭐
And he did that despite being hated by viewers for replacing a legend like Letterman at first. He managed to push through it and invented a new type of late night absurd comedy no one did before him. The fact that he survived the first few years of his late night is pretty astounding when you look at the historical context
Although Conan himself has often painted Late Night as a barren landscape, the truth is there were several competing shows around at the time. The most famous was probably The Arsenio Hall Show which despite being looked at today as "short-lived" was already in its 4th season when Conan's incarnation of Late Night first aired and stayed afloat for 2 more seasons. Arsenio's show was, unlike Conan, a huge instant hit and was something of a cultural touchstone in the late 80s, early 90s with several popular catchphrases and a really iconic and dynamic intro. And of course Arsenio had a huge movie hit on his hands with Coming To America. Add to that landscape shows from Chevy Chase and Jon Stewart. It was really steep competition for audiences across limited channels... and at the time the late night slot was also often filled with networks showing old movies (like they also used to fill the Sunday afternoon slots). The fact that Conan survived all of that in a time slot when MOST Americans either just gave up and went to bed, or got drunk, is truly nothing short of amazing.
To be fair, Conan has cool qualities, even if they get played of here in a funny way: - inspires others to be great comedians - has lovely and healthy relationship with his wife - doesn't get into fights - is eloquent - is incredibly loyal to his employees These are qualities we can strive for which actually make the world a better place.

I'm 71 years old, and for most of my life I too have enjoyed the superpower of knowing the time -- even when awakened in the middle of the night -- within a half-hour. I began to consciously work on developing this ability starting when I was 19, and within a couple of years was pretty good at it. By now I'm quite good at it, exCEPT when I'm experiencing a bout of insomnia. So having a pretty regular sleeping-to-waking rhythm is really essential to this working. I developed this by carefully observing how I physically feel after being awake for X amount of hours, then X+1 hours, X+2 hours, & so forth. Then making the same kind of observations when I awaken during the night -- how do I feel on 2 hours of sleep, 3 hrs of sleep, etc. And while I developed this very deliberately, I can easily imagine someone just acquiring a "knack" for it, like any other talent -- like some people have a natural "ear" for music, while others can acquire one with time & practice. Conan, I'm pretty sure you can't make much of a living from knowing instinctively what time it is, but fortunately you also have another superpower, a wonderful superpower for comedy, which seems to have done you well. Best wishes.

Love Sona!! Can we get the edibles episode please 😂
7:49 Sona as Therapist and Honest adviser and Great Friend 😆😆😆
