Awesome demo, Patrick. I remember the brand name empress effects from their distortion pedals the multi drive and the heavy. I don’t use compressors pedals myself. I’ve only experienced compressors and limiters from multi-effects processors and garage band and this compressor does sound pretty smooth.
Great vid. Those two Harley Bentons sound terrific, the blue ones a bit wonky looking but I love the bridge, the hollow body is bloody excellent
Although I don’t use this compressor, it’s probably one of the best out there. Great review & demo of this pedal, Patrick! I just got MXR’s Poly Blue Octave. I’d like to hear you demo that. Almost like a multi effect pedal in 1 nice housing.

This is probably the most coveted compressor on bass guitar forums. I had one for a while and was impressed. I ended up selling it when I realized I don't really like using compression (except when I'm recording, where I can just use plugins). But I would definitely recommend it to any bassist looking for an amazing compressor.
Can I ask what turned you off of using compression live?

Have you ever tried the MXR M80? It is a pretty versatile pedal, it has D.I, E.Q. Distorsion, AND noise gate, it's preety cheap too.
I have yet to experience a compressor that beats a DOD Milk Box. Best kept secret over the last couple of decades but the word is out and they are getting harder and harder to find.

I'm actually interested in hearing his opinion on the two of he's used the pulp. I'm currently looking to upgrade my compressor and his style/taste is very similar to mine...

I think I'm the only one in the world that hates the sound of any bass pedals when going into an amp in a live setting. I like dry, flat, and let the bass and amp work their magic haha. Recording, on the other hand... ;)
