That's tough man... But you got to see some really cool action at least and you got some great footage!

I laughed pretty hard reading this. I have transition lenses. Gotta love light sensitivity!

Seems to me that sitting closer to the thick stuff would increase your odds of getting more action and closer shots.

I agree. From the scouting I had done on that point. If I pushed in to much I was feared I would push them out of that bedding. I do wish I was closer.

That’s tough… maybe just use the head cam for footage. Self filming a hunt is hard and adds another thing to worry about in the stand

You are 100% right. It adds another element to hunting. This was a great learning experience for me. It helped me make adjustments.

Tough luck man, don’t listen to the naysayers. Make sure your aiming for a small detailed spot on the deer, and not just aiming at the vitals. Aim small, miss small.

Thank you. I am practicing everyday to get better. Aim small, Miss small.

@@daintonoutdoors just make sure when your aiming at a live animal you find a spot behind the shoulder and concentrate on that spot, not the area of the shoulder. That is the mistake I see the most when I’m helping other bowhunters.

Relax and take your time. Don’t forget to take some deep breaths to control the heart rate and most importantly would be to open up your grip. You want it to be resting in the crotch of your hand and let the bow fall. Also don’t forget as many contact point as you can get like touching your nose to the string and kisser in the side of your mouth. Good luck out there!

Its ok...since you film without using lighted knocks...we cant see your misses anyway.

I am using orange lighted knocks. Yes they do not show up midday. They are nice in the evening or early morning. But you are right about not seeing them here Lol

I dont mean to dog your hunt, but this Buck is about a 2 1/2 year old deer...

You are probably right. He got me excited so that is why I tried. I am working on trying to judge deer better in the field. I am still learning a lot.

No shame in getting stoked over seeing some antlers man! How long have you been bow hunting? Tbh, I don't even count antler points anymore, I try to shoot mature deer over 4 years old. Tbh it's all subjective to one's opportunities and privileges. Most people don't have anywhere to hunt, let alone hold out for a 'target' buck. For me, I always use my previous buck as 'the bar' I try to aim for. If he's not older or have some features that are better, I'd rather just shoot a young one or just try next year 🤷🏽‍♂️ that's just me though man! Not trying to discourage you at all

I have been bow hunting seriously for 10 years. I am trying to get to that point. Where we hunt we do not get really big bucks often. We are luck though to have a couple places to hunt. You are right a lot of people do not get these chances. That is what I hope to do have my previous buck as my bar. But when I get a decent buck in front of me , I get too excited. We have a couple nice 2.5 yo that are going to be hard to pass. But this year we do have the most 3.5 plus bucks I have every seen in my life. You are good man. I like learning more about how people make decisions and hunt.
