    That is probably one of the most creative ways to create a portable gas tank 🤣 Probably made the right choice- trying to fix 2 tractors right now just adds to your project list.

    Most of the big equipment we use are obsolete. Kind of a nail biter when looking for parts here.
    The tank cleaning thing was awesome.
    You got a lot going on but soon to be harvest time. Saving that old stuff is awesome when you can.

    Looks like you got lots of good parts in that deal.
    I know a man who used to fill the coolant system with vinegar, and work the engines hard for a day.
    It would dissolve lime deposits.

    I read somewhere the reason that happens is on four cylinders the engine stops in one of two places. So when the starter kicks in the same two places on the flywheel. That way you get wear over and over on many on the same spots through all the hard starting cycles.

    I’ve seen Matt on Diesel Creek use the same gas tank cleaning method. Something tells me that was the first time cleaning a tank this way. I agree with you on keeping the Super C after you named off the 5 or 6 minor things wrong with the C those were enough for me.

      I haven't seen it before, but heard of the cement mixer tricks. Flywheel yup know that beast. I have to replace the one on my TD9 or turn it over and put a bevel on the teeth so the starter can grab and let go.

      I’ve heard of heating up the Ring gear and spinning the ring gear about 30°. That way you’ll have new teeth to kick in those spots that normally don’t get used.

    I think you made a good choice to fix the super C and sideline the C for now. Hopefully it can return at some point, but for now it's better to start with the one with (hopefully) less issues. I can't wait to see it with the cultivators on it. And I really wish I had thought about strapping the tank to a tractor wheel that would have been so helpful with the Oliver tank. I didn't have to solder the screen in on the sediment bowl, it fit tight enough after I drilled the hole out. Thank you for bringing us along again, Nelson! I hope you have a good week!

    • @Pennies_on_the_dollar
      @Pennies_on_the_dollar  2 місяці тому

      I appreciate that Evan, I do think you are right. It has issues, but hopefully none as big as the oil pressure. Rhe C may get a full restore 😉 I am so excited to get thr cultivators on it and side dress rigs!! I wish I could take full credit but had been looking for a cement mixer to do the same thing. Then it hit me, a tractor tire should spin fast but slow enough not to be dangerous. It worked amazing, 3 tanks of vinegar and it's spotless 🙏🏻👌🏻 THANK YOU for that info on the strainer, I see it says a 7/32 bit to drill it out. So yours fir really snug? That's awesome!! Thank you Evan and for always being here, I really appreciate that!! Hope you have a great week as well!! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲👌🏻👌🏻

    • @evanaustin2636
      @evanaustin2636 2 місяці тому +1

      @@Pennies_on_the_dollar My sediment bowl was different, the hole at the top was actually too big but farther down it was small. So I drilled the deeper part to 7/32 and had to drill the top part out to clear the outside of the bigger part the screen hooks to so that the small stem would reach the deeper hole. I don't know if that makes sense it's easier to show than to type about LOL. Drill it one size smaller first then finish the hole with the 7/32, it should be fine. Mine twisted in with a pair of vise grips
