An incredible sequence of episodes, ending with one of the most beautiful, heartfelt, and masterful episodes I've ever seen in any medium. Part 3 will be out next week, to close out this amazing arc :) ⚡Upto ep 123 Uncut on Patreon: www.patreon.com/collection/514750?view=expanded
And just to help you put it in context, the three pieces you've broken the Suppression Arc into take place over 8 days from the attack on the Fire Temple to the end of what comes next.
Something about the way you react is just so genuine dude. You naturally funny and interesting to watch, without feeling the need to overreact for the camera, keep it up
The reason that Izumo and Kotetsu weren’t actually fighting against Hidan was because it was their job to protect Shikamaru. If they left him, then Kakazu would have free rein to attack Shikamaru. It’s kinda like chess/shogi too which has pieces that stay in one spot instead of attacking to protect a more valuable piece. The cool guy with the crows is named Aoba. The other dude with the scar is Raido.
Yeah. The reason it seems silly in retrospect is because Kakuzu was so much more powerful than the both of them, but at the same time they had zero way of measuring his strength before he decided to jump into the fight
Soloraiju - Does your back hurt? From carrying the Naruto reaction community on your back? From constantly working so hard to keep us fed with Naruto content of quality? Your videos are a great way to start the morning and always entertaining! ❤ Great work as always!!
if youre looking for other people reacting to Naruto I'd recommend NicholasLight and FlexieJay. They all were around the same place at one point, but now theyre all at different parts (at the current moment Raiju is the furthest and Nicholas is the farthest). Theyre all worth watching if you need more people to react to.
I actually liked their choice for him not to, made it more impactful when he brings the cigarette to Asuma, and (SPOILER) when he lights the cigarette for Asuma’s spirit. Feels like more of a service to his sensei, rather than just two buds sharing a light y’know?
From the way you talked about Shikamaru seeing everyone continue living life, I can tell you've lost someone close before. That was such a real take on what was goin on
Cool little bit is in Japanese the subtitles when Shikamaru’s dad shuts the door he says “I’ll be there to pick up the pieces” which is great considering he literally threw the shogi pieces but metaphorically he just told his son to fall apart into pieces so he can rebuild himself. Either way love your reactions keep it up!!
raiju i appreciate you openly feeling emotional during this series, some people i think would see it silly to cry over these characters, but your empathy is very impressive ❤
dont know if any of you guys noticed but the reason Naruto got bummed out and actually gave up for a second was cause he was using tons of clones. if you make 1000 clones and train for a day, when u get the experience it’ll be like training for 1000 days😂. Ik u said “he feels like he’s worthless after only a day?” but to Naruto who’s getting that much experience its not the case👍
I love that the ppl with shikamaru were the ones judging him during the exam saying that lazy guy is gonna be chunnin and then their just praising him mid mission years later shiiet
The Shikamaru grief episode is not in the manga, but I consider one of the rare cases when the addition from the anime was incredible better then the manga. I consider one of if not the best episode in terms of direction.
Dude same, yet it's been so long since I watched it for the first time. Shows how good the anime is, you don't really need to be a child to understand some of these scenes!
I love the episode of Shikamaru grieving so much. The first time watching it is amazing, but there are many layers that you only really start to understand when you know who the king is. It carries so much meaning and intention in every scene, it is just a masterpiece.
I know the episode isn't about Tsunade, but I just love her so much. She's such a great leader, she wants to protect the village and the shinobi under her but she places such trust in them at the same time. Just the fact that she was there to stop Team 10 shows how much she cares.
Tsunade is one of the best leaders in the whole series… she is fantastic. Despite being someone who didn’t originally want to be kage, she has the most impressive leadership skills of any kage imo. She has everything a kage should have. She keeps an eye on her comrades wellbeing, too. She was concerned they would go for revenge, and she took the time to stop them from getting themselves killed.
Episode 82 is so amazing. It's held up so incredibly well and looks like it could have come out now instead of 2008. It's one of my favorite episodes of anything ever, similar to what you said. There is just such a grounded, real feeling to it that is relatable if you've ever suffered such a tragic loss in your life. Technically most of the episode, including that scene with Shikamaru and his dad Shikaku is not in the manga, but it's such a worthy addition to the story that basically every Naruto fan sees it as canon material, and I feel the same way.
Not going to lie you are the only creator on youtube I instantly watch their videos and like them before even watching. I know it's about to be gold. Your channel will be massive one day man.
"Shika"prefix in their names means a "deer". Also their clan name Nara is a name of the Japanese city Nara where deers are everywhere and are sacred animals. So in Narutoverse Nara clan is historically a clan that grows deers. They even have their own land with deers in the Land of Fire, you'll find about that in the next episodes 😊
"Can we get a show dedicated to just Shikamaru?" Bro, you're watching it right now! See, you thought you were watching Naruto: Shippuden b/c of the title. But in reality, this arc of episodes is titled "Shikamaru: Shippuden".
Let it out boy... something every father should be able to say to their son. The Nara are my fav clan in thd entire show. Konoha literally wouldn't be the same w/o them.
Fun fact: Shikamaru actually started smoking during this arc starting from Asuma's death scene in the rain. But because of censorship issues his cigarette scenes were replaced with only the lighter in both the anime and manga volumes, the only place to find the og version is the original weekly release of the manga.
This mans is a heavily underrated reactor. I love this scene, narutos got another 5 or so scenes with this level of emotion (and one that id say far surpasses the sadness factor of this one, but thats just to me) animation wise, this is peak
Hi Raiju, since no one in the comments has answered your question of "what happened?" yet: After Shikamaru lets all his emotions out and crawls over to the shogi board, we see this massive change in his demeanour because the shogi piece he is looking at is "the king". He remembers Asuma telling him that he is counting on Shikamaru to protect the king, which is where his determination to take down Hidan and Kakuzu is coming from. Hope that helps! Loved your reaction and display of genuine emotions, I cried like a baby the first time I watched these episodes! Definitely my favourite Shippuuden arc!
You have such great insights and watching you react to these great episodes is so much fun! Maybe you should also add a small reaction to the intros at the start of the arc since the intros of Naruto are so integral to the show as well.
man when you cried, i cried. i have seen this series so many times and asuma's death always hits hard. i hope when you get further down the line that you include kakashi's filler arc! it's the best one in my opinion, a fan favourite too. makes you appreciate kakashi a lot more. see you next time raiju. :)
You teased that you watched this like 2 or 3 weeks ago. I can't WAIT TO SEE YOU LOVE IT! I'm not crying you're crying it's raining Asuma's cigarette got in my eyes
FYI that scene with shikamaru and his dad is actually FILLER. Just shows that filler can be part of the main story as long as it enhances it (and not contradict it atleast).
You're beginning to get into section of Naruto that makes people not only be fans of it, but continually speak exceptionally highly of it. I personally am very glad you have made it this far into the series, and look forward to the reactions that will come.
Asuma's death affected Shikamaru so much that he became a smoker in the manga, even though he said during the classic that he hated cigarettes, Shikamaru was left psychologically shaken.
Everytime I rewatch Naruto, I always skip episodes like these. They never fail to make me cry😭 this will not be the only arc that has a death scene. I love that you just kept silent and only kept your eyes glued to the screen when it's necessary. I feel like I'm watching this for the first time because of the English dub. Probably my most favorite father-son interaction. Anyways, I'm off to find a tissue😭
I didn’t realize until you said it was Kakashi wanted revenge just as much as Team Asuma. Rewatching through your channel I love when a major moment is happening and the animation gets more crisp
47:03 Ah my favorite filler episode of any anime. Nay, my favorite episode in Naruto period. What a masterpiece! The animation, the art style, the direction, the emotions. Pure cinema! Shikamaru will always be my fave character in Naruto 💯
One of my favorite arcs of the entire series. Some arcs have so much crazy stuff going on but this one feels like its still so grounded in the characters.
I cannot WAIT for you to get to the Pain arc, it's one of my absolute favorites and I am so excited to get to relive watching it for the first time through you 😂 I have enjoyed these vids so much!
Shikamaru Shippuuden is just soooo good. And no anime does mourning like Naruto. We had the Third Hokage's death, now Asuma's. That episode where Shikamaru mourns Asuma is pure art. And not to alarm you but we'll get a few more so buckle up and get ready to cry like a baby a few more times.
I still haven’t recovered from Asuma’s death. It was so unexpected. Like you it took me a while to believe it. I kept expecting a last second save. Moments like these, how they let other characters take center stage and get genuine character development, how they treat death and give the characters time to grief, are part of why this show is so beloved. I absolutely love seeing your journey through this amazing show! Keep it up!
We need the next episode ASAP! 😄 WOW! This was a sad sequence of episodes, I even forgot how sad and just perfect it was. I watched Naruto years ago but I never had any intention of rewatching it. Thank you for being the best channel out there right now reacting to this show, because if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be rewatching the show through your videos right now! ❤
How cool would it have been if Tsunade decided to go on this mission and because of her 100 sealings she could technically survive/outlast Kakuzu, this show had so many opportunities to give so many characters some significant shine
Hey man, been subbed since you started your Naruto journey. Just wanted to say I genuinely look forward to your videos, I be checking every day if u uploaded so pls never stop bruh
Truly one of the most GOATED Arcs / series of episodes in Naruto right here! Hands down! Your reactions and editing are awesome man, keep up the great work! I always look forward to your content 👍
@SoloRaiju: Hey, I am following your Naruto reactions since you reached the Chunin exams and now that you seem to react more regular on the series I want to give you a little recommendation: When you finish watching Naruto Shippuden one day, do yourself the favor and react once again to the very first arc of Naruto, before the Zabuza and Haku arc. Stay with me in this, because I bet you will enjoy it.
Shikamaru lost someone really close to him... and it hurts to see him go through it. Especially if you've lost someone, it feels fitting what shikaku says.
One of my favorite parts is that the hokage was like it’s a no chance for success, but as soon as kakashi volunteered it’s ok shows how strong kakashi is and respected
Scene with Shikamaru and his dad is indeed impactful to lots of people who watches the shows . The drag scene with shogi playing, to Shikamaru throw the board to his dad says Let. It. Out. damn, my tears automatically come flowing down like river
I refer to episode 82 as Shikamaru Shippuden because of the art style change and pov from Shikamaru himself, it's so different from the regular naruto feel. The best part? The show only gets better from here.
Bro i have to say that you are so funny and relatable and have amazing sense of humor . Im glad to see that you enjoy Naruto as much as I did and i must praise your editing as well. be proud of your work is absolutely brilliant... 👍👍👍
The episode where shikamaru talks to his dad is one of if not my favorite of the series. It struck me on a personal level having lost someone in a car accident. You try to avoid the emotions when letting them out is what you HAVE to do.
An incredible sequence of episodes, ending with one of the most beautiful, heartfelt, and masterful episodes I've ever seen in any medium. Part 3 will be out next week, to close out this amazing arc :)

Shippuden is just begging from this arc, you ain't seeing nothing yet 😅 but I agree...this arc is very special and one of my favorites
As a hardcore dragon ball fan I'm happy you're enjoying my second favorite anime
excited for the next few arcs 🗡
And just to help you put it in context, the three pieces you've broken the Suppression Arc into take place over 8 days from the attack on the Fire Temple to the end of what comes next.
"That's one of the best scenes I've ever seen...in like anything."
Thanks for understanding that.
Cheers...
Something about the way you react is just so genuine dude. You naturally funny and interesting to watch, without feeling the need to overreact for the camera, keep it up
Exactly. This guy is the best reactor hands down.
fr
Crazy thing is that the scene with shikamaru and his dad isn’t even in the manga. One of the best anime only scenes
Oh really 😮 that was great indeed
That is wild. It's such an important moment for his character. And they executed it perfectly
The reason that Izumo and Kotetsu weren’t actually fighting against Hidan was because it was their job to protect Shikamaru. If they left him, then Kakazu would have free rein to attack Shikamaru. Yeah. The reason it seems silly in retrospect is because Kakuzu was so much more powerful than the both of them, but at the same time they had zero way of measuring his strength before he decided to jump into the fight
Everyone that reacts to this episode seems to always forgets this 😂
shikaku the underrated goat
Best father in the series
I still tear up at the shogi game between them 😢
How is your comment 3 days old??? The video was posted 3 hours ago 😂
best character periodt
Soloraiju - Does your back hurt? From carrying the Naruto reaction community on your back? From constantly working so hard to keep us fed with Naruto content of quality? Your videos are a great way to start the morning and always entertaining! ❤ Great work as always!!

This Shikamaru and Dad scene goes down as one of the best in Shippuden imo. It's honestly even better in subbed
That episode might be like top 3 directed of naruto for me.. the sound design, the voice acting, the voice acting.. all of it was masterclass..
Nahh, nothing's better in subbed. Imagine trying to tap into emotional dialogue when you don't even understand the dialogue.
and to think it's anime only, wild
i perfer the dub but they are both goated
Its what so many boys need when growing up without a father. Certain things, only a father can do.
From the way you talked about Shikamaru seeing everyone continue living life, I can tell you've lost someone close before. That was such a real take on what was goin on
Pretty sure it was his mom
Cool little bit is in Japanese the subtitles when Shikamaru’s dad shuts the door he says “I’ll be there to pick up the pieces” which is great considering he literally threw the shogi pieces but metaphorically he just told his son to fall apart into pieces so he can rebuild himself. This man knew exactly what he was doing with this trailer and now I'm crying at work
dont know if any of you guys noticed but the reason Naruto got bummed out and actually gave up for a second was cause he was using tons of clones. if you make 1000 clones and train for a day, when u get the experience it’ll be like training for 1000 days😂. 100% Kakashi wanted to go on this mission to avenge his friend as well. Playing cool as usual that he was just watching over the team.
I was literally thinking “bros feelin his Anbu days rn” 😂
The Shikamaru grief episode is not in the manga, but I consider one of the rare cases when the addition from the anime was incredible better then the manga.
I consider one of if not the best episode in terms of direction.
Jeez, after all these years, I still cried at the Shikaku and Shikamaru scene lol. What a legendary anime.
Dude same, yet it's been so long since I watched it for the first time. Shows how good the anime is, you don't really need to be a child to understand some of these scenes!
I particularly like how all the like, sadder episodes are made with that super soft animation
I love the episode of Shikamaru grieving so much. The first time watching it is amazing, but there are many layers that you only really start to understand when you know who the king is. It carries so much meaning and intention in every scene, it is just a masterpiece.
Exactly this. I love seeing it in retrospect and admiring the depth that that gives when the episode is already a great one all on its own.
"Oh my god!!"
Jashin*
That was funny

Kakashi going for blood after his friend and former classmate died.

Hidan (飛弾) = 飛車 (Hisha)
Kakuzu (角都) = 角 (Kaku)
The names of Hidan and Kakuzu both come from Shogi pieces! It’s like having two queens in chess.
This is the arc where shikamaru becomes not only my favorite Naruto character but one of my fav in all of anime
"Shika"prefix in their names means a "deer". Also their clan name Nara is a name of the Japanese city Nara where deers are everywhere and are sacred animals. Dude you are hands down my favorite reactor and SO underrated. You always feel super genuine and you're naturally very funny. Keep it up!
Funny thing is that one of Naruto: shippuden's best sacrifices is not even a main character chefs kiss 🤌🤌
Hidan’s immortality, Jashin Religion, & Voodoo Doll jutsu is something I wish they dove into
quite frankly, i'm betting that they dig him up at a later date.
Fun fact: Shikamaru actually started smoking during this arc starting from Asuma's death scene in the rain.
But because of censorship issues his cigarette scenes were replaced with only the lighter in both the anime and manga volumes, the only place to find the og version is the original weekly release of the manga.
Man a lot of my favorite anime and shows live in my head. Naruto lives in my HEART.
This mans is a heavily underrated reactor.
I love this scene, narutos got another 5 or so scenes with this level of emotion (and one that id say far surpasses the sadness factor of this one, but thats just to me) animation wise, this is peak
Probably 10 more lowkey

English dub's top 3 mistakes. "I'll pick up your pieces." turned to "Remember, I'll be here for you."
No other anime comes close to the peaks of Naruto imo. This episode is one of the best pieces of media in GENERAL
You have such great insights and watching you react to these great episodes is so much fun! Maybe you should also add a small reaction to the intros at the start of the arc since the intros of Naruto are so integral to the show as well.

Nah man it ain’t weird that’s your favorite episode. This last episode is so good. No matter how many times i watch it i still get teary eyed
You teased that you watched this like 2 or 3 weeks ago. I can't WAIT TO SEE YOU LOVE IT!
I'm not crying you're crying it's raining Asuma's cigarette got in my eyes
It just gets better from here on out! GOATED
FYI that scene with shikamaru and his dad is actually FILLER. Just shows that filler can be part of the main story as long as it enhances it (and not contradict it atleast).

Asuma's death affected Shikamaru so much that he became a smoker in the manga, even though he said during the classic that he hated cigarettes, Shikamaru was left psychologically shaken.
It is this part of the show that cements the idea that no character is safe from the grim reaper
Your reactions to naruto are my favorite out of any reactions to anything on youtube. I feel like I'm watching with a good friend ❤
I didn’t realize until you said it was Kakashi wanted revenge just as much as Team Asuma. Rewatching through your channel I love when a major moment is happening and the animation gets more crisp
Easily one of the greatest art directions of any anime episode ever.
I like how the two jonin guys did the same thing with the syrup jutsu that shikamaru did against temari.
47:03 Ah my favorite filler episode of any anime. Nay, my favorite episode in Naruto period. What a masterpiece! The animation, the art style, the direction, the emotions. Pure cinema! Shikamaru will always be my fave character in Naruto 💯
This fucking upload schedule has been goated.. thank you for putting in so much work for us..
NOT JUST THE GREATEST FILLER IN ANIME HISTORY ITS THE GREATEST EPISODE IN ANIME HISTORY!!!!!!
One of my favorite arcs of the entire series. Some arcs have so much crazy stuff going on but this one feels like its still so grounded in the characters.
what an amazing arc. the sheldon clips will never fail to take me out lmfao
I cannot WAIT for you to get to the Pain arc, it's one of my absolute favorites and I am so excited to get to relive watching it for the first time through you 😂 I have enjoyed these vids so much!
U must hear the Japanese version of Shikamaru screaming Asuma!... itsss sooo more emotionalll
Shikamaru is one of the best side characters in Naruto.
It’s nice that kakashi still called them team Asuma even with him as leader
You've probably heard by now, but EP 80 of OG Naruto, the 3rd Hokage dies.... ep. 80 of Shippuden, his son, Asuma, dies.
Keep it up!
kakashi leaning on that pole READY for asumas get back i fkn love it
We need the next episode ASAP! 😄
WOW!
Ino is a sensory ninja that’s how she knew he was coming
How cool would it have been if Tsunade decided to go on this mission and because of her 100 sealings she could technically survive/outlast Kakuzu, this show had so many opportunities to give so many characters some significant shine
Hey man, been subbed since you started your Naruto journey. Just wanted to say I genuinely look forward to your videos, I be checking every day if u uploaded so pls never stop bruh
"You'll catch a cold" Says the guy wearing a crop top in the rain.
Truly one of the most GOATED Arcs / series of episodes in Naruto right here! Hands down! Your reactions and editing are awesome man, keep up the great work! I always look forward to your content 👍
Yeah, Hidan is basically a living voodoo doll. Dude's crazy masochistic 😂
"It was an end worthy of a shinobi."
This arc is so fire, definitely approaching one of the many peaks of the series
This is one of the finest arcs. I hadn't imagined that I would start liking team 10 so much
Shikamaru lost someone really close to him... and it hurts to see him go through it. Especially if you've lost someone, it feels fitting what shikaku says.
This particular eddit with "like a prayer" in the background is fire duuuude 🔥🔥🔥 goosebumps !! Appreciate the effort
My biggest problem is that the 7 year old found it weird shikamaru never thought to just erase or disconnect the circle
One of my favorite parts is that the hokage was like it’s a no chance for success, but as soon as kakashi volunteered it’s ok shows how strong kakashi is and respected
Your reactions bro are super genuine. It only gets better bro
I love this arc one of my favorites of the entire series… Shikamaru has always been one of my favorites too… and that last episode was a masterpiece 🫡
The Japanese line that his dad says after closing the door was so much better. He says “I’ll pick up you pieces”
The show only gets better from here.
i forgot how good this arch was. i can't believe it gets better. your reactions are so natural it takes me back to when i first watched it. thank you.
the trailer edit goes hard god damn
I'd been looking forward to this so much, did not disappoint 💪🏻 Glad you're back on the Naruto grind!
"Oh my God!" *Jashin* is sending me 😂
I’ve watched this arc a dozen times and still cry everytime during the scene with shikamaru and his father
Bro i have to say that you are so funny and relatable and have amazing sense of humor .
Im glad to see that you enjoy Naruto as much as I did and i must praise your editing as well.
be proud of your work is absolutely brilliant... 👍👍👍
Dude you’re so goated. Just subbed to Patreon ❤
i love your edits, those little cuts in between are hilarious, the grandma with the briefcase got me lmaooooo
I’ve watched all of your Naruto reactions so far. And man this one definitely deserves a like. Loved it👍
Gutted I missed the premiere, I am loving these vids
This show can hit the spot so hard and accurately it hurts. I could never do a reaction, I'd be crying too much lol.
Bro fought harder in the opening than in the actual fight 💀 , btw you should totally make a video reacting to all of the og naruto openings
Kakuza straight up said they door dashed me 35 million how kind of them
This, my guy, was the first time i feel depression in my life. This arc changed everything.
The episode where shikamaru talks to his dad is one of if not my favorite of the series. It struck me on a personal level having lost someone in a car accident. You try to avoid the emotions when letting them out is what you HAVE to do.
