Even after all of those years being apart. The get back together for that brief moment and the chemistry is still there. They knew how to set each other up to be funny without forcing it. Martin and Lewis. I loved watching their movies.
They had actually been together a number of times before this…. Martin gate crashed a talk show interview Lewis was on in the early 60’s, and in the mid 60’s Lewis attended a Dean Martin show in Las Vages, and Dean brought him on stage, where they joked for 15 minutes. There is apparently other instances where they were seen together at parties and social events. So the 20 years thing is not entirely true
The look of anger on Lewis’s face and tone in his voice says it all. Dean Martin said later on that he regretted doing this and Lewis likewise was unhappy about it.
Ohhhhhhh those days........may be I am not from your generation..but I miss you two...love you Dino and Jerry...love for you two from India..from the city of kolkata.....❤❤
Jerry wrote about his relationship with Dean and this moment in his memoir, Dean and Me. Understandably one sided story but still, an insight into one of the great comedy duos of all time.
I remember watching this every year. Jerry Lewis handled this well. They both did. They made the best of it. I remember thinking he had to be an awesome dad. That wasn't true. You just never know
Hi friend, trying to catch up to videos. Dean seemed like a great person to be around. I believe Frank and I would have been besties lol. We're bossy lol. Great show and i truly hoped what Jerry said in the interview was true. Even if its not I'm pretty sure they're all having a party in the sky.
Jerry's body language when he meets Dean, wow. They both went into professional mode for the cameras, but in between the act, Jerry does not seem happy.
Something doesn’t add up here because Lewis’ demeanour on the telethon where he was taken by surprise was not that of a comfortable person at ease with the situation. He was nervous, tense and seemed annoyed with Sinatra.
People fall out for the stupidity that is pride, and waste 20 years before they get together again, but it's never the same again because they loose that continuity.
Jerry Lewis always claimed that 'he' broke up the team of Martin & Lewis. Yet numerous books and other articles dispute that. Dean Martin, in a rare interview with the BBC, said that he pushed for dissolving the team because he was tired of Lewis reducing Martin's role in the movies and night club act. IMHO Lewis was upset that Dean broke up the act but also that Martin's career surpassed Lewis when it came to successful movie roles, a TV variety show, and recording sales.
Dean Martin was hammered during this event. He probably reeked of booze and cigarettes. Legendary performer but boy did he have his share of internal demons.
Basically I can't stand Jerry Lewis one BIT!!! I have absolute respect for him doing the MDA Labor Day Telethon for decades, but that's about it. As for this scene,.....IDK if it was real or staged. But I'm sure people Jumped up & called in a pledge, cuz of the love for the 2. (Which isn't a bad thing 1 way or the other).
I feel the same; Jerry loved the mda kids, but treated his Own kids like Crap! None of them has Anything good to say about him. I Believe he truly loved his adopted daughter, but he managed to give them his final slap in the face by leaving all of his boys out of his will.
Yes, technically they met each other over the years but this was a "public reunion". Meaning they were not together professionally or publicly known to be together as friends.
Didn't get to see this live was working, but seen it later on news. Was good to see them together again!❤
Yes it was!
Saw it as it happened. The MDA telethon was a must-watch in those days.
It was a special moment.
Even after all of those years being apart. The get back together for that brief moment and the chemistry is still there. They knew how to set each other up to be funny without forcing it. Martin and Lewis. I loved watching their movies.
One of the great entertainment couples.
They had actually been together a number of times before this…. I watched this live, like we did every labor day!!! It was a family tradition!!! I miss that show, those men, and those times!!!!
To watch this live would have been great.
I will ALWAYS LOVE 💕 them! This was a VERY magical moment that I was so happy to see live! God bless thier souls for eternity!
A great moment to see live.
This was an iconic moment in show business.
Very much so.
I remember seeing it live, it was awesome!!!
What moment that would be to see live.
Dos 3, pra mim o mais humilde e admirável era Dean Martin
Very true.
This was a moment to remember. Jerry and Dean had this time to patch up the friendship they once had.
Great Vegas moment.
Certainly a historic moment on live TV! Both Jerry and Dean handled it well. I grew up watching the Jerry Lewis MD Labor Day telethon, I miss it.
Truly historic.
this was freakin huge when it happend !!
Yes it was.
Classy ,Classy Guys ...... No one today is in their stratosphere ....never will be either .......
An era that is gone forever.
Frank in great vocal form here. This clearly was a surprise to Jerry.
A great surprise seen live by many.
I saw this live on TV.
Very cool, historical moment.
I remember they re reunited in the 90s. I saw that time
The look of anger on Lewis’s face and tone in his voice says it all. Dean Martin said later on that he regretted doing this and Lewis likewise was unhappy about it.
They had a troubled relationship to say the least.
Dean was the Greateest! Sinatra was Great, but Dean had it ALL, Great acting with John Wayne, Young Lions, Airport, and Sammy Davis, WoW
Dean was Mr. Cool.
Ohhhhhhh those days........may be I am not from your generation..but I miss you two...love you Dino and Jerry...love for you two from India..from the city of kolkata.....❤❤
A unique time and unique duo.
Only Frank Sinatra could pull this off.
That may be true.
THE CHAIRMAN 💎 💯❗️
Jerry wrote about his relationship with Dean and this moment in his memoir, Dean and Me. Understandably one sided story but still, an insight into one of the great comedy duos of all time.
Thanks for the information.
i just love this guys 😍😍!!
A great moment with two icons.
Show Biz Pros.....in the Golden Era .......it was the very best ....
It was a great era.
They really loved each other.wasted years
Imagine all of the shows and movies that could have been done.
Creo que son únicos me encanta Jerry luis y de franc Sinatra vi la película los 3 sargento junto a Din Martín y Piter lanfor muy graciosa
They were one of a kind.
I remember watching this every year. Jerry Lewis handled this well. They both did. They made the best of it. I remember thinking he had to be an awesome dad. That wasn't true. You just never know
Jerry was different in private vs. public.
This was the last time they ever spoke to each other. Jerry did visit Dean on his deathbed.
They could have been a great duo for a long time.
Dean and Sammy would have been best to hang round, Frank and Jerry would have been best to see their show.
Best act in the world!!!!!!!
One of a kind.
Only Frank could Get Dean to come out on Jerry’s Show.......
Only Frank Sinatra could’ve pulled off that reunion.
It was a great moment.
Jerry's body language when he meets Dean, wow. They both went into professional mode for the cameras, but in between the act, Jerry does not seem happy.
It would be interesting to know exactly how they felt.
Only Frank.
One of a kind.
Something doesn’t add up here because Lewis’ demeanour on the telethon where he was taken by surprise was not that of a comfortable person at ease with the situation.
He was nervous, tense and seemed annoyed with Sinatra.
That is a possibility, difficult to tell what Lewis was thinking.
People fall out for the stupidity that is pride, and waste 20 years before they get together again, but it's never the same again because they loose that continuity.
Very true,
I'm sorry but jerry didt have a good thing to say about Dean when he was alive. Afther he died he suddenly was a Saint
It's difficult to tell what Jerry thought of Dean because like you say he was on both sides of the fence.
@nicokakes4736
You’ve clearly got nothing nice to to say so SHUT UP YOU DISRESPECTFUL WORM
Jerrys a jerk
@@johnhurley4700 you’re the jerk here loser
No one knew that he was there
Frank pulled it off.
Dean Martin was hammered during this event. He probably reeked of booze and cigarettes. Legendary performer but boy did he have his share of internal demons.
Dean liked to drink.
Basically I can't stand Jerry Lewis one BIT!!! I have absolute respect for him doing the MDA Labor Day Telethon for decades, but that's about it. As for this scene,.....IDK if it was real or staged. Well said, as far as I know Jerry didn't know the reunion would happen.
Jerry was not a pleasant man personally.
Staged
Always read good things about Dean. Always read bad things about Jerry.
Not a surprise.
Jerry was a douche. Even to his own kids
Jerry was certainly not as nice as his public persona.
I think Jerry Lewis was a creep
Lewis was not a nice man.
It wasnt a reunion they had kept seeing each other all along. This was a fake reunion meant for tv.
So what jackass
Yes, technically they met each other over the years but this was a "public reunion". Meaning they were not together professionally or publicly known to be together as friends.
