- This is a video of when I went to the Amityville Horror House at night at around 10 PM on April 17, 2007. In this video you are able to see a face on the boat house. This video is also proof that the orginal picture i took is legit.

The Lunz family moved into the house with most of the Defeos furniture as well as the same flooring, paint and wall paper. So much of their energy was left behind which was why they had these experiences. Once the house was repainted and renovated the energy left. This is why no one has reported any problems since. Considering the murders happened almost 35 years ago yes I would live there. Its a nice house.
i sure as hell know i wouldnt be living in the houses next to it
When I went to amityville back in 05 I stood just across the street from the house and I found it surprising how close all the houses are to each other. there's a small park or recreational area right across the street from the house

went here last night. private property signs plastered the trees, candles lit the rooms on the bottom floor, and the windows on the top floor were boarded up

While I tend to dismiss the Lutz story (more as the overreactions of a couple of young homeowners rather than as a genuine attempt at a hoax), I still have to say that this house creeps me out. Perhaps it's simply the aura of the DeFeo tragedy, but this place gives me chills even without the scary eye windows.

The Lutz never ever said that it was a hoax. Famous paranormal investigators ed and Lorraine Warren have also said that there was a demonic presence there. So admit it that u are one the those skeptics who take time to believe it until u experience it urself

Didn't help much tho - My moms and I found it easy cause it's not like the rest of the houses changed their numbers LOL. This was back in like '87 or '88 tho. They've changed the appearance a bit since then - you can kinda tell from this vid.
Well, I think the house is very pretty and I have gone to see it before. I know, I am a tacky tourist. LOL If the neighborhood would allow it to be a bed and breakfast that would be pretty cool.
Ragemarine, the house isn't fenced up. It is well maintained and very nice. The guy who owns it keeps it that way. A lot of people try to stand around in front of the lawn, pick some grass as a souvenir, get drunk and walk around at 3 am....etc. I'm not saying you'd do any of that. If you must go, just be respectful about it and don't stop and keep staring. The guy can't even live there full time because he gets no privacy. The cops will chase you away if they see you hanging around.
if someone paid me to get there i would stay for a whole week alone
I agree i w/ 2! i lived in a haunted house in MD!1 i am not scared of haunted houses! not at all!
I would never live there for the fact that guests would be afraid to come 2 my house and if i watched that movie i would get so freaked out! Imagine there being horror movies about ur own house!
That would be PERFECT if TAPS went in there- I wonder why they haven't? I'm guessing its because the present owners don't want anymore publicity than they already have..
i love this theme song! best of all time,the movie and the book.you almost have to say that behind the stories,indian buriel ground and the defeo family,the salem witch trials which i believe is connected,in some way,u almost have to think there is paranormal on goings @ the property.
Indian burial ground and witchcraft stories have been proven false.
I don't think the problems that the owners of the house have have to do with ghosts nowadays. It's mostly just regular people visiting the house on halloween and bothering the owners.

They didn't go into the house because someone lives there. The owners changed the windows because people kept blocking the street and stealing parts of their house.

i don't care what you say, during the day the house is beautiful... but at night, it is the freakiest thing you can lay your eyes on. But old house usually always have that effect on people.

Gallery..absolutely not, they won't have any part of this, because many people who live in Amityville and run the town still remember the Defeo's. The real tragedy is that the family's murder is overshadowed by the ghost story. The town will not disrespect them and exploit the murders. They wouldn't even allow any filming there for the movies.

WHO says that? I grew up in that part of Amityville. So did my father. If there had been the slightest rumor "old indian" stuff you would have had generations of 10-year-olds digging up yards for arrowheads, bones, anything to one-op their friends in creeping each other out.
But there was nothing, even when empty lots were dug up for new houses. Not to mention the area was all marshland until the canals were dug to drain it.

Exactly. The neighbors aren't friendly to the visitors either. I would understand. It's supposed to be a peaceful suburb, and these idiots go there with their cameras and their microphones. It's not like the house is in a busy city were people won't be disrupted, like I said it's supposed to be in a peaceful suburb.

If I was at home alone or with my kids at night, that shit would really trip me out.
So, please, quit fucking with the people who own and live at that house.
Let them deal with any paranormal activity if there really is any.
Contact the guys at TAPS. They might want someone with your level of interest. And then you can "research" places that actually want you to ghosthunt.

they should interview the people living beside the house... if that place used to be an indian burial site, then the other houses could also be haunted...

I think that trying to live a quiet, unnoticed life in that house is impossible. It has to be on the list of the most famous houses in America. It's like trying to live in the White House and not wanting people to look at it or tour it when it's a piece of American History. I think that it was haunted. At least at one point. One of the previous owners could have had it secretly blessed to make the Lutzes look bad. Or the demons went dormant or something like someone in an earlier comment said. Many things could have happened that ceased the crap that was going on in that house. I think that the owner should sell it and make it into a museum or bed and breakfast. Because ghost hunting shows can go in and see if there actually was crap going on in that house and the public will be able to observe the house since it's extremely popular.

That the Lutzes let their imaginations go wild once they knew of the murders that took place and every tiny sound scared them. Way too much evidence proving the house is not haunted than there is that it was legitly haunted.
my theory is that the demons were attached more to the items in the house which were still there when the Lutzes were living in it, then the new owners came in and cleared it out and didnt pander to it
Yup. The Lutzes found they couldn't afford the mortgage, especially as a result of George's business doing poorly.
Now that it was confirmed that the Lutz lied about the whole thing, not even the music is scary anymore...

The house is, and always has been, occupied by families. In fact, there have been quite a number of families who have owned the house since the Lutz family...and NONE of them report anything strange. The haunting is a big bag of B.S.
I have been by the house and the adress has since changed due to more homes being built since the alleged episode. The flick was filmed in Jersey and in some sound stages in NYC. The current owner was outside checking mail and since I have NY plates he waived. According to a debunking site he has never had any ghostly experience. I think the whole story is BS anyway.
ITS THIER fault for living in a house that a family was murdered in. I dont think anyone should live there you have to be truely morbid to be ok with sleeping in a room that someone was shot in. I mean Id go inside to find out if the phenomenon really occurs but living there is sick.They should have let it be like the Lizzie Bourdin house.
Has the town of Amityville ever expressed any interest in buying the place as a macabre historical landmark and perhaps make some money off the ghost hunters who would like to tour the inside?
"You make the bed you slept in." Any family that buys the house KNOWS about the history and, should expect enthusiasts, fans and curiosity.

its a very thing what happened, and yes people will want to see and look at the house , and the people who brought it must no that , hear in the uk when there is such a big murder they knock the house down and they did about 10 years ago , also our most haunted old house have open days , no matter what number the house is or colour people will always look and find it , and it seams to of put the price up
Why did they change the front windows ? They used to be a lot different & NOT rectangle ones...
its not like they are looking in the window and you cannot blame people for being curious. if he wants his privacy he should move to a house that doesnt have such a huge history about it. he had it coming when he bought it and Im SURE he knew of its history so its stupid to expect people to leave the house alone.
If they ever were able to turn this house into a bed & breakfast which they can't since it's in a residential zoning area and not a business district zoning area like the Lizzie Borden house is which bedroom would you personally choose to sleep in if the room was available or vacant at the time you checked in. I would like to choose to sleep in either the Allison Defeo bedroom or Dawn Defeo bedroom. The house only has 5 bedrooms so they could only allow 5 couples to spend the night but they would make a ton of money even if they only charged $100.00 a night which is a reasonable price to spend the night in one of the bedrooms. Which bedroom would you sleep in if this were possible.

It's a light reflection, but I do see what you say about the face, but it's only visible at the correct angle. If you look at 00:28:05 it's not there,it doesn't appear till but 00:29 when the car moves;nonetheless, it's still a creepy trick of angle and light.
people shouldn't feel that bad for the home owners .... while I can see your point you have too remember that they purchased the house knowing the history and the hype. They knew they would be bothered on a regular basis if they lived there it's not right ... but it's a fact. I still think someone should buy it, restore it too its previous image and make it into a bed and breakfast so that people who want too seek it out for it's history can do so w/o causing a disturbance.

the current family that lives in the house today have not experienced any paranormal activity at all instead they've harassed/annoyed by curious people so they installed fences

The owners got sick and tired of people doing this, so they changed the adress to 108 Ocean avenue, they painted the house white, and they changed the quarter circle windows to rectangular ones, so that the people would leave the house alone.
You guys should leave those poor people alone, seriously, ok? They didn't ask for any of this crap. This is why cameramen get punched out for getting up in celebrities' faces, they don't know when to leave well enough alone.

I agree gree with you and come to think of it there was this one house in new england where a dad, a maid, and his 2 daughters lived there and the one daughter named lizzie i think went postal and killed her dad while he was asleep on the couch and the killed the maid. idk what happend to the other daughter but I know that they turned that house in a bed in breakfast and you can actually sleep in the their rooms and sit on the couth where the dad was killed. creepy huh?

@TheWhalerfan I take your point bout a big house suppressing noise in fact the older the house the more 'solid' its structure stronger walls and such suppressing noise even more yet how u xplain all the bodies were found lying in their beds face down? They werent moved 2 the beds they were all shot as they slept. Surely the noise would b heard inside arousing some of the family members? And the dog? neighbours didnt hear it barking. Im not sayin its supernatural just an eerie observation
