It's just when people start second guessing themselves that they try to do TOO much bc if they don't then they feel like the "SUCK" at sampling. For me most of the time the best idea is the first one that comes to mind in terms of producing :)

I think that practice is key to dialogue with pieces of music you didnt write. I feel that I can come more often with nice basses that fit my stuff. And, yes, it is simple, but so much can go wrong with basses, its crazy, you gotta practice.
