There's a long way to go for a lot of women, and that choice should be given to them to decide what they want, as opposed to the choice coming from the surgeon."

Can the surgery be performed under local anaesthetic? What if someone has an issue such as a fear of surgery or allergic to anaesthesia?
No. You cannot fill the abdomen with gas and breathe in your own. The ventilator is needed to help you breathe against the pressure of the gas.
horrible operation, every sexually active woman of any age needs her uterus...when the doctors will finally start treating and not amputating?
Not true. Some are medically necessary.
My uterus is the same size as someone who is 12 weeks pregnant. I have a large, fist-sized fibroid that causes gastric and elimination issues (impinges large intestine), and I bleed for 2 weeks every month, plus the drastic hormonal fluctuations are problematic even with meds trying to regulate those. The only treatment for my situation is a hysterectomy at the age of 33 because the other treatments haven't worked.
