I don't know why, but there definitely was a period during the late eighties to mid nineties where the whole 'homoerotic' thing was pretty much every where. Maybe it was because, by that point, as being gay was more socially acceptable and gay designers and artists started to get into position where they could dictate some elements of fashion and aesthetic, this was the result. Of course, such sensibilities were pretty much compatible with the teenage girl demographic, who have been the largest consumers of pop culture since the fifties...so of course it sold. Wasn't so much the bands of the time being gay, but the 'treatment' of their look. But its interesting how, perhaps as we are more 'cynical' now, you couldn't do that in quite the same way as you could then. Anyway, probably not exactly the time to go into such things on a mid nineties bed and breakfast video...just made me think is all...
