I call Shetland home after moving here from England a year ago! I do miss the convenience of living in the middle of England and having absolutely everything on my doorstep, but the people in this place are all incredibly welcoming and can’t do enough for you, I’m so lucky to be here. Every time I take a road trip here my socks get knocked right off my feet, was lucky enough to see wild otters, seals and even orcas! My heart feels so full after moving here and I can’t imagine being anywhere else ❤️ This is a great video and shows shetlands true beauty! Good job xox
I spent a total of four and a half years on Unst with the R.A.F. Loved the place and the people. If you referred to the locals as Scots you were very quickly informed that they were NOT Scots but Shetlanders. Very proud of their Viking heritage.

I live in the north east of Scotland, next time you visit you should explore near here, I live in a a beautiful fishing village surrounded by the water and a beach! Moray is world famous for whisky and it’s distilleries. Glad you enjoyed Scotland so much!

You'd be amazed how many New Zealanders can trace their heritage back to Shetland. A lot of Shetlanders emigrated to New Zealand in the 18th/19th century.
New Zealander who has Shetland ancestry here. My great great (one more great depending on who you ask...) grandfather came from unst, last lived at Feal and jumped ship to get here hahaha

This place is on my bucket list! I was in Scotland 2 months ago and just wow. Easily my favourite country I've been to. Edinburgh is gorgeous and the Highlands are magnificent (highly recommend a rabbies tour), never seen such beauty in my life and the history is amazing! I have heaps of Scottish ancestry and I love learning about it all! Already planning my next trip :) Looking forward to the next video!

It would take at least 3 months to see the whole of Scotland e.g. from Mull of Kintyre to the Shetland Islands and back down to the Borders. Its a fly/drive fantasy trip that wont disappoint.
Nice upload, I lived on Unst for a year. Glorious island about 10 x 4 miles in size. Don’t visit outside of summer. Wintertime can be grim with little daylight.

Just a tip guys....try to get some local perspective in these vids. You didn't capture, or speak with any of the people. Saw the place....where were the people?
I love the Shetland Islands I went there the first time as a kid in the late seventies...hopefully you managed to get to the outer Hebrides too....and if you found the Shetlands a delight.... go even farther into the North Atlantic.. to the Faroe Islands I took a Smyril Line ferry in January from the NE Icelandic port of Seydisfjordur to the Faroes 18 hours across the stormy wintry N Atlantic and then another 36 hours on the ferry to Hirtshals in Northern Denmark...simply one of the best ferry trips in Europe...Summer or winter...
but before anyone decides to visit the Faroe Islands they should check out the “grind” - disgusting and heartbreaking what they do to whales and dolphins.
Laureen, i'm aware of what you describe, and it is horrendous, and like similar instances of abuse towards sentient creatures in japan can not be condoned, and while righteous blame can be laid on those who choose such cruelty as a lifestyle and falsely defend it in terms of cultural heritage, that will not allow me to condemn the entire country , nor would it prevent me from a further visit to and support of those who do not benefit from that particular barbarism in their country...acts of inhumane behavior are legion across the planet and courageous voices such as yours raise much needed awareness...thank you

I never knew the Shetland Islands it was formally part of Norway. I had a friend who used to work there. Also, ponies in sweaters are the cutest!!!

Talisker 16 is pretty good. Oban 16. I also like MacCallan Gold, but that's a blend. My husband is partial to Laphroaigh 16 or Quarter Cask and anything by Lagavullin. Burns my nose.
