    I have finally gotten past the idea that if I just purchase the guitar that Quinton is playing, I will be able to play like he does. In a previous life, I would snatch this beast in a heartbeat. Another superb demo! Thanks.

    I have one of these in Ambertone with Stage 1 Aging. I literally had ZERO intention of buying a guitar when I entered the store. But when I saw these on the wall, I had to try one. I spent about an hour and a half and narrowed it down to 4 of these, two Natural and two Ambertones. They all played and sounded spectacular, but I truly believe the one I picked is the greatest sounding acoustic I’ve ever heard. GET ONE! They’re amazing. Now, I just need to sound like Quentin.

    This is where UA-cam fails me, even with headphones. There seems to be a tone difference between this EI Rosewood and an Authentic's Madagascar Rosewood, but the larger difference is probably the torrified top on the 1937 Authentic. Paul is correct, you need a side by side comparison. Good demo Quinton and Paul. Thanks for the confusion.

    I've played D-28 1937 Authentics--aged and not aged. They are terrific guitars. With good earbuds, this CS D-28 Authentic seems like it has some of their power and projection. Beyond that, I wouldn't speculate how it compares to either of the current D-28 1937 Authentics. I do know this EIR is straight-grain and quarter-sawn, and today's Madagascar is neither. I'd have to hear the guitars in a blind A-B comparison to judge which guitar sounds better to my ear. The Authentic bracing is a step up from the Marquis GE bracing.

      "I'd have to hear the guitars in a blind A-B comparison to judge which guitar sounds better to my ear." If it's still in stock next time we shoot some vids, we'll try to make something like this happen - might have to settle for something other than another authentic, but would be an interesting experiment with another 28 variant. Thanks for the idea and thanks for watching!

    I got the last year of standard madagascar. 2020. Non adjustable truss rod. Wildwood gave us a great deal. 6,800$. I knew i was getting one of the last madagascars before the wood goes the way of brazilian. . So mine almost shot up in price the moment i got it. And while i will never ever dream of selling this guitar till i die. Its always fun to have something that is special and the price reflects its quality. It helps other people know how special a guitar is. Because everyone ive met says just how good it really sounds. And im like ya... comes with a price but thats 1937 for you. To keep up with that era of craftsmanship is steep. It could have cost 1,000$ and id know how special this instrument is. An all hide glue martin! O.O I was wide eyed when i saw that. A modern version of a museum pre war with scientific studies to the molecular scale and modern tech for wood and tension with modern builders?! I dont like brazilian for dreadnaughts. I prefer madagascar.. then a master grade red spruce top with grain density like its 80 years old n been in a private stock for decades. . Its such a fine thing and a privilege to anyone who gets one of these. Cause it inspires the soul to play.

    One other suggestion/comment. Wondering if Music Villa would do a MV Custom Shop of a D-28 with VTS Adirondack top, thinned, same bracing as this, with Madagascar back and sides, performing artist neck, and maybe a large sound hole? Oh, and adjustable truss rod. Just thinking.

    Interesting. Apparently the Madagascar rosewood adds more to the sound than I would have guessed. The Madagascar D28 1937 Aged Authentic has much more of an old hollow sound I hear in a vintage Martin. The East Indian rosewood D28 Aged Authentic sounds considerably different to my ears. The East Indian rosewood D28 Authentic sounds like a D28 Marquis, which makes sense since they're both EI rosewood.

    • @treatb09
      @treatb09 3 роки тому

      Indian rosewood is very deep in tone but lacks the dynamics. Kinda watery and soggy sounding. Ive never been too crazy for indian rosewood. Then i heard madagascar and fell in love with it. . Madagascar is almost like brazilian but is a blend with a mahogany flavor. Thats how i compare it. Indian rosewood. You either love it or think its overrated. Then there is cambodian rosewood which you cant get anymore and its very bright. Brighter than a brazilian tone but the same rosiness.
      Also this has a truss rod so it wont sound as good as the non adjustable leaf spring rods. The truss rod is a steal bar made to keep a firm shape and impedes resonance. Still a find instrument. Hand made. Hide glue. But you cant beat the purity of the non adjustable.

    • @el34glo59
      @el34glo59 Рік тому

      I'd rather have Indian. I was never a Madagascar fan. No offense meant. And I've nevrr thought of Indian as watered down sounding. It's amazing. Madi doesn't sound like Brazilian imo. In this setup, with this bracing and hide glue etc, we finnaly get ro hear what Indian would sound like in the same setup as a pre war Brazilian. And imo, it's closer to it than Madi

      @el34glo59 you have a long attention span.
      You realize that there have been a number of blind tests of stradivari.
      In each test,neither the player,nor the listener could tell the stradivarius from a good modern fiddle.
      This phenomenon is far greater with guitars.these ridiculous values are pure moonbeam and the work of overheated imagination and lust for gear.

    • @polescalante
      @polescalante 11 місяців тому +1

      @@wilfredruffian5002 I like this topic you're touching on. I've read and heard of these blind tests you mention. The player even plugs his/her nose since there's a distinct smell on a new vs old instruments. And yes, it was about a 50 - 50 of what was considered the better violin or which was which... These are top modern vs top old. So, now to the subject of this guitar. The more accurate comparison here would be this modern "authentic" style vs an actual 1937 D28 that could easily be over 100K USD. There are levels to instruments, and when comparing, we should also account for a good sample of each compared model. I have compared many great samples of many great models and then some not that great. In one case, I preferred the sound of a standard D18 vs an authentic 1937 D18. The authentic had a clearly noticeable wolf note on the open G and lacked a bit of depth on the low E. The standard was a great one. But... One time I got to compare a D28 AA 1937 to a great sounding HD28V... The HD28V was, to my ears and the ppl in the room, clearly superior in sound to 2 HD28's in the store. There was only one D28 AA 1937, and it made the HD28V like it was full of wet socks. We also played 3 D18 standards, 2 customs 1937 (1 aged and 1 non aged) and a D18 Authentic 1937. One of the standards held its own vs the Custom 1937's (I still preferred the CA's, but not by much). The Authentic though, again, was on a different level. Sound will always be subjective, but the differences are very evident in many examples of comparisons.
