I know it's not the first time a Blade movie had production problems _(Oh hi, Blade: Trinity)_ but how hard is it to write a movie about a guy who kills vampires??
I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Johnathan Majors was initially supposed to be the brother. When I saw MBJ was doing a dual role & I heard the accent, that’s the first thought that popped in my head
You know this movie is good when you read all the major studios bid to make the film just off the script Coogler wrote. Warner Bros won the bidding war and signed a contract that the rights of the movie return to Coogler after 7 or 8 years, no studio signs that kinda deal and rumours are this could be the first of a franchise.
I really hope this movie is a financial success, I respect filmmakers who can experiment and try different things. If this movie succeeds, hopefully Hollywood will take a chance on new, unique, and original screenplays
For me is less about him being a Black Director and about how everything is IP based nowadays. And now this is getting a decent budget and is an original ideal
This film reminds me of the graphic novel Bitter Root where there is a black family that hunts demons that originate from racist Americans. Looks like a great film. I‘m glad we’re getting more black directors into genre films.
One aspect I haven't heard people talk about... Delroy Lindo was supposed to be in the MCU Blade. But Coogler got him to be in this vampire movie instead.
There is a really crazy part of me that wants this to be a secret prequel movie to 30 Days of Night. A movie that actually made vampires scary. I’m hoping that Coogler brings that energy here with this one.🙏
Remember when you saw the trailer for From Dusk Til Dawn, and thought that if you haven't seen any of its trailers, the viewing experience would've been different. Well, now is the time to unplug yo self from everything FYI about this movie.
Everybody else who saw the trailer said the same thing. Very solid trailer. Not anything that would even suggest what it’s truly about. But enough to make you go “wtf is this??”. Definitely a must see for me.
Southern black families all had ghost and with doctor stories. We were very aware of spirits and supernatural. The blue bottle trees, root workers, haints etc. I thought lovecraft country would explore it more.
Me and homegirl said this trailer was good. But I heard what it's about and I'm HERE FOR IT. I love Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan's working relationship.
Rumor is that this movie is based on a rejected Coogler Blade script for Marvel that he took to Warner and they actually let him make a Black Vampire Slayer movie(Shocker). So Julien was not completely wrong...for a change. Also, this gives "Bitter Root" X "Harriet Tubman Vampire Slayer" vibes for you independent comic book fans out there.
Ryan Coogler and Micheal B Jordan are like Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro a perfect duo. Also would love to see y’all talk about Nosferatu really hype for that film as well.
fun fact, 80 years before Dracula was published, the first american vampire story publisehd (which was short) was called The Black Vampyr: legend of saint domingo. its about a vampire from haiti, an african prince seeks to avenge his family (this came out around the haitian revolution) the this african prince vampire is a master of hoodoo and seeks to take his slave masters power, home and family. written by an anymous ablitionist.
First: Happy Birthday, Korey!!! Second: Getting some Lovecraft Country vibes from this! And speaking of the LC connection besides the Jonathan Majors info: I think that's Wunmi Mosaku (played Jurnee Smollett's sis in LC) in the black dress with the stake at the end of the trailer.
Definitely interested to see this. One thing...Jordon's southern accent isn't the greatest but still. Shame if tru Majors was originally suppose to be in the film. Ah well. Thanks for vid!
Ryan Coogler for me hasn’t missed so far, even the weakest of his 4 movies (Which IMO, the first Black Panther, don’t kill me…) is still very good. I get like a mix of Lovecraft Country, From Dusk till Dawn, and even 30 Days of Night vibes from the trailer. Him and Michael B. Jordan arguably are the most underrated director & actor duo and I can’t wait. Also Hailee Steinfeld 😍
2025 is the year where we TRULY see what the new WB regime can do. There will no longer be any films to release, that the previous regime had their fingers on.
11:30 Is he trying to quote the narrative principle of "Chekhov's Gun" as being an "important character"? I'm a little lost as to the correlation he was trying to make to this trailer.
I read the description of this movie before a trailer even existed, apparently Michael B Jordan is playing two characters at once, human and the vampire.
2 scenarios brothers are bootleggers so either along the way twin brother gets attacked orrrrr he makes a deal with the devil along the way is granted eternal life because i can see him being more the wild one. And the last act of the movie is the morning after where MBJ is sitting there rolling the cigarette shaking probably the loan survivor and he sees his gangster ass brother coming but he’s a vampire. This is supposed to be a franchise so either the whole series is in this timeline orrrrrr just maybe twin brother bites him at the end and he becomes a vampire as well and for him too lose it he has to hunt his brother down and we get a time jump to somewhat modern days since vampires are eternal in like part 2
This trailer came on as an ad. I was about to skip thinking it was gonna be another self serious michael b jordan movie. Then i noticed that something special was happening with the cinematography and the vibe.
This reminds me of the video game Hunt Showdown. Takes place in the deeep south. Fighting monsters and ghouls. All we need is MBJ in a cowboy hat and i am sold.
They still don't respect black women directors and black women lead films with a big budget. Especially if it is outside the stereotype of what Hollywood and the gp (not including black women) want or expect. But you know we are always last so...baby steps I guess.
Ryan Coogler got tired of Marvel delaying Blade, so he made his own.
Props to Mr. Coogler. I will see Sinners in March! 😁
He's not supposed to be the director of Blade.
@@brucelee3223 we didn’t know that man thanks for sharing.
Marvel sleeping on Blade too much, that's gold mine waiting to happen. But,some film companies always trying to ice-skate up hill. LOL.
Marvel Studios: Well um we don't know how to write a Blade Movie!
Ryan Coogler: Then I'll write my own😂
Beau Demayo's pitch didn't sound bad tbh. Basically The Raid but with Blade.
I know it's not the first time a Blade movie had production problems _(Oh hi, Blade: Trinity)_ but how hard is it to write a movie about a guy who kills vampires??
I didn’t know MbJ was doing karate and wearing a trench coat.

🤣🤣 right!!
Ryan Coogler, Michael B Jordan and Ludwig Goransson …always creating hits together!! 🔥🔥🔥
Ryan Coogler went full on Thanos with a vampire movie since Marvel is struggling to make Blade. The brother said *"Fine. I'll do it myself."*
Southern Gothic horror is such a deep well that we should keep exploring. This trailer was 🔥 and showed just enough
Totally agree - especially after shows like Lovecraft Country and Watchmen ...

Hailee finally looking like a fine-ass grown woman and not a high schooler. And Michael B Jordan look strong af

Ryan Coogler hasn't failed me yet. That trailer did a phenomenal job at not revealing too much, as teasers should do.
Wakanda Forever should’ve never been made.
I think his movies have been good but I don’t think they’re masterpieces or anything.. i think this’ll be a good time at the movies tho at least
@@firstlast9846 3 out of 4 ain’t bad I guess 🤷🏾♂️
I thought Wakanda Forever was boring as hell. And honestly pretty gross how they used Boseman.

Dumbest comment on UA-cam
Michael B. Jordan and the other guy in the thumbnail look like they just saw the Crow reboot.

What's weird is korey usually makes fun of greasy black actors with their eyes bugged out. I wonder if he chooses the thumbnails?

I guess Marvel messing up with Blade turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Coogler.
