But here they were really useless against him to the point he was relaxed and didn’t have to break a sweat as all the tension comes from dialogue. Just as much as I can love all these action scenes with great choreography, sometimes it’s nice to just get something very simple. I also completely agree that Aaron Pierre is a great leading man. He’s currently linked with the role of John Stewart in the Lanterns show. Seemingly between him and Damson Idris, but even if he doesn’t get it I think this film has put him in demand. Probably because it’s come out so close to Alien: Romulus, but I can really see him and Cailee Spaeny together just shooting up Xenomorph’s. @@MentalStillness well, that's the thing. Rambo was also suffering from PTSD and had a mental break, which lead to him killing the cops that were hounding him.
Yeah Martin was off with that take cos when I think of 'mid' Netflix movies I think of Ryan Reynolds movies like 6 Underground, Red Notice & The Adam Project.
I loved Anton Yelchin, one of my very favorite young actors. His bizarre death still blows my mind. I saw The Green Room shortly after he died and for me, its so bittersweet seeing him in such a great, entertaining movie after death
Soo...According to Julien it is A-ok to get knocked off your bike then ripped off by the cops. Got it. This is one of the most solid Netflix movies I have seen in a long while. The main character came across as strong, self-assured, and determined without all that alpha male overblown violence usually shown in action movies. Not to mention the main character wasn't bad to look at even after being knocked off his bike...Again, SMH Julien.
I like the whole bike riding thing he had going on. Being ex-military and obviously fit, made more sense to have it as part of his personality than just a hitch hiking guy like Reacher...
To Julienne's critique of the main character screaming in rage at a couple of points, that's the point. As a veteran who's endured some things, we are known to be calm under pressure, subdued, but when the moment of catharsis reaches a boiling point whether for good or bad reasons, we can erupt. That was a very well observed and true take on the character.
The trailer was so good, I was afraid it would disappoint, but man this movie exceeded all expectations. Aaron Pierre is the next movie star. He could be James Bond (yes he's British) or the next Black Panther.
This was such a dope movie. I was 😂during the scene in the chinese restaurant...T: Mr. Liu was a medic in korea...S: thank you for your service....T: he's chinese, he fought for the other side
Martin's point about the battle with all the cops coming after him is a great point. In that scene there's no reason for them to stay in that area behind cop cars, he could be easily outflanked by having cops just go around.
This movie really didn't need to be over 2h long. First Blood is a tight 93m experience and there is no fat at all, Rebel Ridge on the other hand feels bloated.
Did this fucking guy just said what i think i heard him say? The cops had a legitimate reason to knock the guy of his bike! What?! 😂😂😂😂😂. This is an example of some individuals mindset. Thats why I like listening to these conversations and I do think it was great of the other guys to correct him on that ridiculous take.
The music choice is spot on. As a Veteran, being in the service introduces you to all kinds of people, cultures, music, etc., so it makes sense that he would be listening to something other than hip hop.
While the movie is enjoyable, I felt the beginning suffered from lazy writing to the point where I questioned if Terry either had no sense of urgency, didn't love his cousin like he said he did, just lived under a rock his whole life, or if he had a plan of waging war with the cops from the start? Its like the writers couldn't find a better reason to put him into conflict with the corrupt cops. If the owner of the restaurant is willing to wire Terry money after his money was stolen than why not ask the owner to loan money to get a rental after he sold his car? If Terry was willing to give his bike to Summer to sell for around a thousand dollars than why not Terry sell his bike and put the money towards a rental
the problem is....the PAYOFF didn't meet the setup. with just how racist and corrupt the cops throughout the movie, me, and those who're not happy with the overall movie, were expecting a more fulfilling Rambo/Reacher/Taken type of payback against those Don Johnson and his men. and we did NOT. but, i do agree, Aaron Pierre is a real strong point as the lead. and I really forgot he was in Old...as that rapper. he was cast as a Blade villain, but backed out due to the production troubles...but, I can see him as other super hero characters....John Stewart for DC...or either Brother Voodo..or maybe, a new Luke Cage for Marvel.
Every Jeremy Saulnier film has made me feel scared, excited, and finding myself pumping my fist when Justice is served. Just got done watching this. Wow, what a great f*cking movie
This sort of thing did happen to Lil Boosie while driving through Mississippi, the dirty police tried to steal his Jewelry and money and as soon as he got his lawyers and the public involved and they found out he was a famous rapper they gave it back quick.
First 10 minutes im screaming at Korey to "SPIT IT OUT GAWDDAMN IT!!'😂😂 ***when people don't agree with korey on movies and shows, what is it that comes out? Its not anger, its not irritation. Is it offense? Idk what to call it. But, its something. Anybody else know what to call it?
Yea what is he talking about. He is a close quarter combant expert. So he made it to the point. Where he had the advantage. They didn't call more help in because. They was corrupted. They didn't want anybody else to know. So they kept it within the town.
The Institute for Justice does a lot of work with helping people that get targeted by Civil Asset Forfeiture. It's scary to think that Civil Asset Forfeiture is unfortunately legal all over the US and a lot of innocent people get robbed by the police for no good reason, but at least there are some good people trying to do something about it (and winning quite a few cases, too).
I put this on thinking it might be ok and was amazed by the end of it. So much better than it had any right to be. Well written and compelling from start to finish.
I was marginally aware of this film, but now I'm pretty excited to check it out. I remember The Shield doing a season (the one with Glenn Close) that centered on asset forfeiture, both its potential usefulness and how quickly and grievously it gets abused. Looking forward to see how this movie addresses it.
There's been a lot of people online saying Aaron Pierre should be the new Blade...ironically he was supposed to be playing a villain in the new Blade movie, possibly Deacon Frost.
Julien advocating for police violence as protocol🤦. What was "Film School" about this movie? That's incredibly discrediting to an established filmmakers.
Aaron also played Malcolm X in Genius. I thought he was better in that. I think he's a fine actor, with nice range and vulnerability, but I also found some of his line readings a bit flat. He was consistent though, maybe a little subtle for an actioner.
The main character Terry Richmond was listening to Right Brigade by Bad Brains, a black punk/reggae band. And he has the bands album art lighting bolt tattooed on his left forearm. Check the movie soundtrack. Legit!!!😎
The single take sequence when Richmond parks the dully under the bridge and climbs out on top and up to the road was chef's kiss. This had no business being so good. Saulnier delivers again.
Yeah, disagree with Julien about the cops at the beginning. However, I did find their side of the story, the Sheriff's explanation of it all very interesting. They were all still corrupt as shit, but the whole thing about doing it for more systematic reasons. Like the unsustainable of operating out in the middle of nowhere. It didn't make me agree with or like the cops, but it gave them motives that probably hit close to reality. That's why I like that this wasn't a kill em all movie. The thing I didn't really think about until a second viewing was the fact that their lights were on. But the siren came just before them hitting him. Was the siren supposed to be on the whole time and Terry couldn't hear because of the music he was listening to? The cops were definitely shitheads, but I just wonder. I love the way Jeremy Saulnier writes his movies. Except for Hold the Dark, that movie was boring and shitty. But it's also based on someone else's work. I will say three movies in (not counting Hold the Dark or Murder Party), I think I'm starting to see Saulnier's writing patterns. The last minute cop alley being similar to the neo nazi alley in Green Room. It's very subtly set up early on. I'm trying to think if Blue Ruin had anything like that. Either way, the man knows how to write tense and engrossing scenes dialog conflict that either do or don't lead to physical conflict. He's a master at it as far as I'm concerned. Up until now, all his movies (excluding Hold the Dark) involved incompetent protagonists. It was interesting to see him have an ultra competent protagonist, and still have it be incredibly interesting.
I usually agree with Martin, but on THiS i'M with Corey, and Julian gets a little too comfortable and needs to edit himself and read the room, which includes the platform.🤣😐 I bet i can guess how Julian Feels about the Tyreek Hill incident.
i got home and my dad was watching it. i would talk to him and he wouldnt even respond becuase he was so immersed in the film🤣 so i sat with him to watch it. We both liked the film just got a little upset when he didnt use real bullets😆

@@MentalStillness well, that's the thing.
Rambo was also suffering from PTSD and had a mental break, which lead to him killing the cops that were hounding him.
I don’t know what Martin is talking about that it’s a mid Netflix movie . Most Netflix movies are terrible imo lol.
The main actor was good and some of the villains were good. The movie overall was just okay
Yeah Martin was off with that take cos when I think of 'mid' Netflix movies I think of Ryan Reynolds movies like 6 Underground, Red Notice & The Adam Project.
Different strokes for different folks I guess
He's basically Luke Cage in this, hounding Dr. Doom "Where's my money, honey!".😂
Man even watching AnnaSophia Robb in this, I still see her as Violet Beauregarde from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 😂
I still see her as that girl from bridge of terabithia 😢
SAME@@TheBestAccEver
@@TheBestAccEverbro i KNEW she looked familiar😭😭 i just couldn’t put my finger on what i recognized her from
She's adorable
I still see her as that girl the main dude crushes on in The Way Way Back.
I loved Anton Yelchin, one of my very favorite young actors. His bizarre death still blows my mind. I saw The Green Room shortly after he died and for me, its so bittersweet seeing him in such a great, entertaining movie after death
Agreed. I'm sure he would have gone on to give greater performances.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
me and the wifey like how it was alot more grounded and relatable than we thought it was going to be.
Glad that Julian didn't find his calling as a cop. What a douche.
“Director of Green Room”, well, that’s all you had to say, I’m gonna have to give this movie a watch
Soon as i heard that, i went oh say less
I didn't realise until I finished watching but thought "oh that's why it was this good!" the moment I found out.
No point Green room is better unless you believe this setup is real as much as Korey somehow😂
@@ItsJustCartier GREEN ROOM was outstanding. Stakes were so much better and a tremendous payoff. This film not so much.
@@Darkanent Thank you, a lot people glazing this movie as if this is more real then John Wick. It felt like Tyler Perry wrote this plot lol
My man went an extra 150 miles just to be a non-lethal John Wick in every action scene 😂
I like the whole bike riding thing he had going on. Being ex-military and obviously fit, made more sense to have it as part of his personality than just a hitch hiking guy like Reacher...
I mean reacher was also ex-military but it's also insinuated Reacher is just naturally jacked and huge with zero working out lol
@@devilmikey00 yep
Jeremy Saulnier is such a great director, and this didn't disappoint, either. One of my favourites of the year.
Thank you for your service
I really appreciate that. Thank you. @@tamaracharese
The trailer was so good, I was afraid it would disappoint, but man this movie exceeded all expectations. Aaron Pierre is the next movie star. He could be James Bond (yes he's British) or the next Black Panther.
He's Green Lantern.
20:45 Oh no..his anti-melenin is coming out. Someone baptize him in potato salad and raisins quick 😂
Shame on Julien!!!!
Midsize Sedan!!!
I knew I recognized him from somewhere. LOL!
lol !
This was such a dope movie. I was 😂during the scene in the chinese restaurant...T: Mr. Liu was a medic in korea...S: thank you for your service....T: he's chinese, he fought for the other side
lol yeah!
Yup especially with a goofy setup that was as real as John Wick with as bad as acting
Yea too much going on with the lady lawyer. Most of that was extra.
I enjoyed but it could've been trimmed a tad.
I would love to see Aaron Pierre play Tim Fox/Batman someday down the line.
Martin saw #1 on NetFlix and said: "Not on my watch!!"
The movie pulled me in, immediately. Great opening. It was a tiny bit too long, but overall, a really good film.
Don't dogpile Julian guys, he's clearly never biked while black before
Julien is one of the worst additions to DT since it started.
The music choice is spot on. As a Veteran, being in the service introduces you to all kinds of people, cultures, music, etc., so it makes sense that he would be listening to something other than hip hop.
I feel like he could pull off John Stewart green lantern.
Red flags for Julien🚩🚩🚩
They really missed the opportunity to call this “Black Reacher”.
Powerman...
Do y’all watch these movies fr??! He CLEARLY said that he sold his car for a portion of the cash he had on him.
Great film, I also think we’ve found our John Stewart for the new Green Lantern show on HBO. Aaron Pierre has a big future ahead of him.
Good point. If you ever seen Stargate SG1 or know the actor behind God of War, he made me think of Chris Judge. Pierre's next big one is Mufasa.
Green Lantern! YES! I hope so! 🤞🏾
Whatever happened to Chris? I never liked Julien
This Julian dude is completely deluded.
I think that sometimes Martin just needs to bump Korey so that he doesn’t repeat himself like a broken record…
😂😂😂😂😂
Glad yall feel what I felt with that "what were they supposed to do" line from Julian ... like excuse me 😐
I thought Jack Reach because they both look like giants compared to everyone else. I thought it was great.
He was basically Jack Reacher with Batman's code.
He definitely felt similar to Jack Reacher
He was nothing like reacher except that he was jacked
@@VionKaito567 okay 👌👍
@@VionKaito567 Jacked, a giant, special ops and invincible. I think someone else said it better. Jack Reacher crossed with Batman.
Holy crap... You let Julien actually defend cop brutality? I can not believe this coming from his mouth.
First 10 minutes im screaming at Korey to "SPIT IT OUT GAWDDAMN IT!!'😂😂
***when people don't agree with korey on movies and shows, what is it that comes out? Its not anger, its not irritation. Is it offense? Idk what to call it. But, its something. Anybody else know what to call it?
Bias dissonance
20:21. Naaaaaah. Just nah man. Come on “Julian”🤦🏾♂️
(Also)
“Aaron Pierre” IS a Leading man, and he need’s more Roles. Loved him in this movie man.
Julien needs canceling now😮
Yea what is he talking about. He is a close quarter combant expert. So he made it to the point. Where he had the advantage. They didn't call more help in because. They was corrupted. They didn't want anybody else to know. So they kept it within the town.
Just watched it and perfect time for this 😂
This was a banger thriller
This happened to a man in Arizona I believe. He was transporting 10 bands for his daughter college, and the officers/tyrants, took every dime from him
The Institute for Justice does a lot of work with helping people that get targeted by Civil Asset Forfeiture.
I thought about that season of The Shield also. Very good. I think Anthony Anderson played the main antagonist that season.
Legit!!!😎
22:14 Yeah that ain't it
Julian Trollindinger, ladies and gents!
Look at the movie gentlemen, he sold his car for bail money 😢!
It's a grounded movie did you really think Terry was going to be a cop killer? Fuck the Police but if he did that shit would've got worse. State Police would've came in.
I only thought of Rambo because of the trailer. But the movie isn't really what it looks like from the trailer. I see more Jack Reacher than Rambo.
Julien hating just to be hating.
This movie is fucking awesome
I never liked this Julian.. the one with dreads is better
