For RG353V or RG353VS, the download page is here.

Installing is easy... you can use image writing software like RUFUS:
rufus.ie/en/
1. Download linux firmware file
2. Insert new micro sd card of at least 16gb size.
3. From your computer.. You can use rufus to install the image file onto the new sd card.
4. If you choose something larger.. when you first insert the sd card into the system.. it will resize the card game partition accordingly/automatically.
Again.. the newly imaged sd card put into TF1 slot and power on.
It will start doing somethings to initialize the software.. one of them is resizing the game partition so it uses all of the SD card storage.
Nice one sorted my RG353v out working again. thanks for putting this video up.
Sweet! Glad you're up and running.. also good to hear the stock firmware for RG353v works.
I listened to sooooo many videos!! And still couldn't get it !! I figured it out now thanks to you !@! Thanks man!!
Glad it helped. Most videos talk about cloning with rufus or other sd card cloning software but this has a big issue. It's that you would want to resize the GAMING partition with something magic partition... and that is it's own problem.
I think I got lucky because I was able to find anbernic's firmware from their download page. I'd actually downloaded the wrong firmware... and was stuck for a few hours over this simple mistake.
Dont get me started about how the gaming system might only one sd card slot at a time if you want to play games... ie.
if you have two cards inserted.. it may only read slot 2.
But if you want your gaming system to play from slot 1,.. then you have to remove sd card slot 2??? I was stumped on that for the longest time too.
Thank you. I would not have been able to do that with out you.
Yea. I noticed people posted custom instructions but they didn't do a simple instructions on where to get the firmware or roms
I will have the rgv353v, it can support linux and android, its the same process for the android firmware?
@@ronaldguz if they have the firmware software on their site. Yes I believe the process is the same for android. I just haven’t tried it myself
🎉🎉🎉Thank you very much. It worked.
Glad it helped. Many people online suggested cloning the existing sd card.. but the stock firmware when imaged from rufus naturally extends the Gaming partition (especially if you end up using a bigger sd card).
I actually tried cloning then using magic software to make the gaming partition larger.. but I ran into a snag.
Also... I don't know if anyone talked about this... But as a beginner.. this is what I ran into...
I believe... (but I could be wrong)...
If you add games onto SD card slot 1.... it will only read that sd card if you remove your sd card slot 2 card!?
So.. if you enter a sd card into both slot 1 and 2... it will read your games/roms only from slot 2 (but not 1).
If someone else can confirm I'm wrong.. please do let me know.
I ran a test... had games like sonic and kirby on sd card slot 1.
I had games like pokemon on card slot 2.
When I turned it on.. I only saw games from slot 2.
I turned it off.. removed games from slot 2... and finally I was able to see/play games from slot 1.. ie sonic and kirby.
This annoyed me.. but at least it made it easier for me to work with knowing this basic behavior.. I'm sure there's a way to get both sd card slot 1 and 2 to view all games from both slots.. but I'm not sure.
thanks from iraq 🇮🇶
Glad to help. Wow.. all the way from Iraq.. hope all is going well over their!
It's cool that youtube helps people anywhere in the the world.
Thank you. Other are no as simple your video.
Glad it helped. You don't even have to watch the video. The description outlines what you have to do.
Sometimes my videos are straight to the point. IF they are I'm happy. Have a good one!
Thank you a ton for this mine came in this way but i havent been able to figure out where i can start playing them without going into android
Are you trying to run the games through Linux?
Sorry. Outside of cloning or installing the stock firmware. I'm a noob with starting with either Linux or Android. I'll spend a little time tomorrow reading into it. I originally just wanted to backup the firmware since sd card failure is reasonablr
The card that had the Linux OS for my RG353V crapped out only 2 weeks into me owning it.
Thanks for letting us know. They use some cheap no name cards.
Hopefully you can download and install the firmware yourself. Good luck
hey just was wondering so i just finished downloading the linux firmware, would i repeat the process to also add the android firmware
That part I’m unsure. I only know how to install the stock firmware
If your model gaming consul offers support for both platforms. I believe regardless of its Linux or android.. the process should be the same
well either way you helped me download linux so i really appreciate it.easy follow. Also thanks the fast response!@@angrymathdude
Now im using ArkOS because the stock OS didnt run all Games. Install progress is the same like in your Video just using a different OS Image.
how and we get the games to SD card #2 .. TF 2
If you go on anbernics website, you can find their rom files as compressed zip files. The sd card needs to be formatted to fat32.
I believe if you format a new 2nd sd card to fat 32. You can just copy the games using the same file structure. It’s not complicated like copying the firmware.
Will this erase all the saves off your sd card in the tf2 spot
I'm actually not sure where the save games are placed? If in theory save games are saved where the actual game is (ie sd slot 2 tf2)... then technically, the save games are not deleted if you decide to install stock firmware onto a NEW micro SD card.
Now.. will the new custom firmware recognize the save games? I think so.. but I've never tried. If the save game files are their.. then it and the game automatically doesn't see them... then you would have to somehow remap the save game files to open correctly.
@@angrymathdude ok thank you so much. The save file is in tf2 in a folder called anbernic. I was playing and messed up the drastic controls and cannot fix them so I’m thinking refreshing the stock os will fix it
@@djbarela4 ok. Just get a new sd card. I wouldn’t overwrite the old one. The sd card that came with the system can probably die soon. That’s why I created the new sd card so I have a backup!
@@angrymathdude what if the old one is a Samsung sd card I got and rewrite when I first got the system ?
@@djbarela4 For me.. I like to always have a backup sd card available since they only cost like $10.
If you've installed stock firmware on this sd card before then you could do it again.
