The word "gamechanger" should not be used in the context of warfare because it trivializes the gravity and human suffering involved in conflict. "Gamechanger" is typically associated with sports or business, where changes have competitive or strategic implications without life-or-death consequences. Using this term for war risks framing violence and destruction as mere strategy or competition, neglecting the ethical and human costs. This dehumanizes the profound loss of life, displacement, and trauma that warfare entails.
A more appropriate word would be "turning point" or "critical shift," as these terms acknowledge significant change without downplaying the moral implications of war.

I don't get why no one mentions the obvious, which makes much of the video's discussion a moot point-the UK cannot extend the use of Storm Shadows without American permission. There is American tech in those missiles, and the US has the final say about whether or not they can be used differently. So, the UK position is irrelevant, and the Americans are the true sole decision-makers.

    • @potentpotions73personsunko37
      @potentpotions73personsunko37 Місяць тому

UK can do this it is their tech, but want the full NATO or USA backup.
It needs UK troops or NATO troops to program the targets of these missiles using UK US or EU satellites to guide such to targets.
Ukraine has not got the satalite to guide the missiles. The range of storm shawows true distant is much more longer range than ever Quoted.
If iarn China and North Korean missiles are allowed to strike Ukraine from Russia territory
Then we must allow Ukraine to strike their storage deposits of such armaments to stop them being used against Ukraine.
But we can't just allow them free range of such tech so they don't decide to take out kermlin starting WW3

Throuble with this political discussion is that is misses the fact that US satelite systems are necessary for this capacity to be properly realised. It's all very well to say just go for it, but go for what? A capacity designed to work with comprehensive satelite coverage without having comprehensive satelite coverage? If the US is going to say no to stikes inside Russia, they could at least give their massive stockpiles of artiliary and shells that are due to go offline before long, for example.

"This EU empire ever seeking to expand stated its territorial claim on the Ukraine some years ago and, just to make that worse of course, some NATO members said they too would like the Ukraine to join NATO.
As a result, this EU empire directly encouraged the uprising in the Ukraine that led to the toppling of the democratically elected President Yanukovych who had wisely seen the Finland approach during the Cold War as the best course of action for his country.
And this EU interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine has led of course in turn to Vladimir Putin reacting.
And the moral of the story is very simple.
IF YOU KEEP POKING THE RUSSIAN BEAR WITH A STICK, DON’T BE SURPRISED WHEN ONE DAY HE REACTS.
HAVE WE TAKEN LEAVE OF OUR SENSES ? DO WE ACTUALLY WANT TO HAVE A WAR WITH PUTIN ?
Because if we do, we're certainly going about it the right way ! And because of these actions of this EU Empire, perhaps we ought to recognize that the West now faced the biggest threat and crisis to our way of life that we have seen over 70 years !
The point that I was making is that there should be a huge degree of guilt in this house about what provoked all of this in the first place.
We saw Western Ukrainians waving European flags rioting, setting fire to things and effectively staging a coup which brought down the Ukrainian President and, in the process, led to this instability.
YES, YOU AND YOU ALONE ARE THE GUILTY PEOPLE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN UKRAINE. AND EVEN WORSE, YOU REFUSE TO ACCEPT IT. "

It's amazing how a lot of these "former advisors" come out and start to critisize present policy and actions taken by a government, when they are just as guilty of not doing the "right thing" by their own constituency when they were in positions of influence and power. You can pontificate about how a government should be acting on this and that, but take a good look at your own performance in this regard when it was you who were in the position of determining government policy back in the day. Take your ideological beef with the government and stow it. You have far more serious problems to deal with than worrying about what the government should or shouldn't be doing. You have a big problem in a group of what are clearly unhinged people in a country sitting on the edge of complete collapse threatening all and sundry with catastrophe just because their leader has some yearning for his glory days as a KGB operative in a beloved repressive geopolitical empire.

To understand what the mistake of the USSR and the Russian Federation is, we need to compare how it is in healthy countries, for example America and Canada, why are they not in a state of emergency or war among themselves? because in countries like these there is no threat that someone from them wants to harm us. That America, for example, will not steal something from Canada. And why is there a threat in the USSR and the Russian Federation that America and other countries will harm you. Or will NATO rob the Russian Federation? they allegedly had and are about to steal something from the USSR and the Russian Federation. This is a mistake in thinking. It is enough to have healthy relationships, do not terrorize, do not intimidate and do not attack. Give other countries good conditions so that they do not want to change anything, give them a sense of security and prosperity. and what did the USSR and the Russian Federation do? It creates such conditions that countries such as Chechnya, Afghanistan, Georgia, Ukraine want to separate from them, because the Russian Federation creates very bad conditions for them. For example, America creates good conditions for Canada and Canada for America. the problem is in the minds of certain Russians. So Vladimir Lenin's idea and execution were only wrong and these mistakes were continued by Joseph Stalin, today Vladimir Putin... That's the point. The problem is in thinking and perceiving reality. A person should work with his head, with his thinking. It's a pity that Vladimir Lenin didn't work with his thoughts. We still have these mistakes today in this war. A046

Yeah, lets not listen to Zelenskyy and play armchair general and advisor for a while. What does he know, right? Bunch of nincompoops! He is the one fighting for the survival of his country and he absolutely knows what's best to counter the enemy.
Also this is not a war between Russia and Ukraine as such, but about a principle that countries respect one and other and do not invade each other for territorial gain. It's a basic principle of the United Nations to which ALL countries agree. If that is not upheld, then what's to hold Ireland from taking back Ulster by force? Or for Scotland just to declare its independence without going through Westminster? So Ukraine is fighting for all of us and it's not just about territory. This is why we need to support Ukraine fully and without any restrictions on the use of weapons.
Besides the use of the long range missiles is only a problem because US satellite data is being used, but in the mean time it has been used since the beginning of the war through for instance Star Link, from which the Russians also gladly have made use of. So basically it's a non argument and just scaremongering from the side of Russia, because we let them do just that, because of our hesitance. We should stop letting Russia rule our brains and not be scared of so called 'escalations'. Putin escalates all the time and we do nothing about it. That is the basis of his utterances.

'THERE HAS TO BE AN END GAME' is just rhetoric. It's both obvious and meaningless to have peace as your end game in a war. The British are much wiser than to just concentrate on the ending of the war, because you have to navigate the war to its ultimate destination by winning small battles and outsmarting the enemy. The Americans have no patience, hence why they dropped atomic bombs on Japan.

If Western Ukraine was in charge of itself it wouldn't have allowed Boris Johnson to scupper the Istanbul peace deal way back in 2022. That deal left Western Ukraine in overall control over the country but with Eastern Ukraine having a degree of autonomy. They had to give up Crimea but there's no way they're taking that back anyway - even without Russia protecting them the Crimean people would never allow it.
