My first RPG, the first overworld theme...
It’s hard to recapture that feeling, but here in the dark it’s like the first time all over again.
Magical.
It was one of the most epic stories, too. Absolutely. Cave of the Mist still gets me every time.
mine too
Me too. Nothing can ever replicate my emotional response to this theme in particular. It is the best overworld theme to any game I've ever played. (Not to mention dungeon themes, and boss themes!)
Goosebumps. This is how my brain remembers this song sounding.
My first rpg as well…and to this day, my favorite final fantasy
final fantasy without Uematsu's music, i think it would never made it this far...
MidI CloriaN I agree. Gameplay for various early Final Fantasy games can be tedious, especially where it is necessary for level grinding. The beautiful soundtracks made it not only tolerable but also enjoyable

It died since 2000
@@CarlosGuerrero-ch2gm who died!?
@@jonathdemian123 Probably just means they haven't made a good game since Final Fantasy 9 in their opinion.
*cries tears of joy*
This is exactly what it should be. It is also the best overworld theme ever made.
Euquila easily the best.
@@ericcampo2711 FF6 : Hold my esper.
Have you ever heard the synthetic orchestra version?
Hmmm I dunno, Golden Sun: The Lost Age's overworld theme is also top tier.
@@DjAether8 nah, 4's is better
FFIV was my very 1st rpg I played on the SNES when it was called final fantasy 2 back in the days.
This is a serious nostalgia punch right in the guts for me. :D
Well, you started with a good one.
"when it was called ff2" you say that like it's name was randomly changed even though it was always FFIV
This is glorious my friend. This is without a doubt my all time favorite rendition of the Main Theme of Final Fantasy IV I have ever heard. I mean this is what I was hoping the DS remake version would've sounded like but sadly they only did that in the opening song. I still say that this song is one of the strongest world map themes that Uematsu ever wrote and I think with this instrumentation you help to prove that. This was also my all time favorite song out of the entire soundtrack as a kid and it is still my favorite out of the game to this day. Now excuse me while I get these tears of pure nostalgic joy out of my eyes.
+moogle847 I've heard a lot of other versions, but they all seemed to be either a rushed conversion of the original (e.g., the DS version) or a very well done re-imagination of the original (e.g., Orchestral Game Concert, Celtic Moon, Blake Robinson). I couldn't find a high quality version that remains faithful to the original and evokes the same feeling of adventure that I felt while traversing the overworld map, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm really glad that you think I did the theme justice, especially considering that it's your favorite track from the game. :)
+Malcolm Robinson Music what an amazing job you've done.
I LOVE it
I found another an official rendition in the second Bra-Bra: Brass de Bravo album that is pretty damn good as well.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic I appreciate the heck out of your updates on a lot of these older themes!
I'll be forty years old the end of this year. I havn't heard this music since super nintendo era.... and still remember every note. nostalgia overload
Bro you must listen to octopath traveler ost
My word, man! I need this on a continuous loop!

Seriously brother......this literally brought tears of happiness and nostalgia. I was going through some hard times at home, as a kid while playing Final Fantasy IV on the SNES (II), and this game among FF VI, Chrono Trigger and Actraiser really kept me away from all the negativity. AMAZING cover!
+Juggalo972 Plays Thanks! It feels great to know that my covers trigger some good feelings of nostalgia. :)
Chrono Trigger was epic. They should do a remake
@@RubbingPotatoes We're all praying for one, maybe someday we'll get it...
The way Uematsus music can switch from uplifting to melancholic back to uplifting again is enthralling!
Incredible. You've given a full, modern orchestra to Uematsu's early 16-bit musical piece (1991!), thus enhancing it immensely, while being completely faithful to the spirit of the original. Every element here is spot on and in proper measure. The marching drums, the harp going up and down the scale, the horns, the soaring strings. You really did orchestral justice to one of the greatest overworld themes ever composed.
This is still my favorite Final Fantasy song, and this is one of the better versions of it I have heard. I was maybe 13 years old and a friend of mine had somehow got the game but wasn't really into it, so he gave it to me. One of the best gifts ever. I think most people regard FF6 as the best FF game and, while it is excellent, FF4 edges it out for me due to the nostalgia, vibes, and, in no small part, this overworld theme music.
I pray we never forget.
I went Oh! wow! within the first 5 seconds. Well done!
Don't understand all of your words, but I think I know what you said and I agree :)
Only1Truth She loves this song because feels like makes the love her ear and remember her childhood :)
I am practice my english :')
@@linkv2796 I freaking love the internet.
These Final Fantasy covers show an awesome attention to detail to the master composers original work and rekindle the emotion I think he wanted to derive from each. Amazingly done sir.
I just found your work. You sir, are amazing.
Misterious, magic, a hard journey... This song gather's all those feelings... The nostalgia is deep ...
This was the game that introduced me to RPGs. Man, hearing this arrangement just brings me back. This is so freaking good.
Malcolm, This is exactly what I had always hoped to hear. Thank you so much for the work and effort you put into this!
As always I look forward to your covers! This one especially brings back nostalgic memories.
+K. Callaghan Cylke I'm glad you like this one too! I also experience the same nostalgia when I'm making these, but at some point in the 15-20 hours that it takes to make one, the feeling does fade a little.
Love everything you do and look forward to more.
This is amazing, fantastic work.
There you go again, man. Another FF Orchestration that sends chills to my spine. Great job!!
Always wanted to find a remix of this, took me long enough and I am oh so glad to have found this one… Truly feels like how the theme wanted to be
Beautiful
One of the best overworld themes ever!
The best. Next to middles ages 600AD chrono trigger (wind scene)
I first played this on my iphone and it sounded fantastic. I just recently played it over my computer with it's 5.1 sound system and my goodness. It blew what it sounded like on the phone out of the water. Truly excellent work!
Just discovered your channel. I need more orchestral themes like this one. Thanks ^^
Just the intro blew my mind. Thank you for this. How can this game's score be so beautiful?...
Excellent.
This is a powerful cover with a lot of emotion put behind it, while still keeping the feeling of wanderlust that defined the original piece. It makes one feel as if they are embarking on an epic, which is very appropriate for the song. I especially love the slowdown at the end. Keep up the fantastic work!
My god, this is so good and so well-done. Please make more!
Thank you! I'm going to start focusing on FFIV later this year and I'll do 15 tracks in total.
This Version Rocks!!! My fifth favorite game of all time
And he strikes again with yet another stellar orchestration! Nice to hear a new video from you!
+Alex K Thank you! I was originally planning to release the Chrono Trigger main theme first, so I put my upload schedule on hold while my CT cover album was being cleared (I wanted to release the CT main theme on UA-cam and my CT album on Loudr at the same time). It turns out that the process takes a lot longer than I expected, so I've decided to just resume my non-CT upload schedule. Glad you liked this one!
This brilliant brings this music to life. Thank you!
This is absolutely beautiful.
Superb
Amazing work at this one. You drove it home. :)
I got goosebumps within seconds of this playing.
Beautiful rendition of this track. I love the fat percussion!
Amazing, there's my childhood right there. Subscribed!
+Isteak80 Thank you! :) I'm taking a short break from Final Fantasy at the moment to cover some newer games, but I'll get back to it soon.
love what yo do, keep doing it! ;)
+FunnyGamer72 Thank you!
Love it!!
OMG this is great!
This is fantastic.
Impressive.
This is an irresistible song I like.
You who sublimated into such a shape and evolved into a wonderful song are wonderful.
I want to listening endlessly.
I wrote it while translating. I'm sorry if it's a strange sentence.
wonderful!!!!!
Wow. Goose bumps.. The music from these games is what got me into composing in the first place, and I have to say, from one composer to another, you nailed this.
I need my life to be orchestrated like you do with these tracks, dude.
This feels so epic.
I'm playing FF IV again for the first time in about thirty years and this music is a fantastic update. Loving all of the tracks.
N O S T A L G I A
This and corridors of time are the best 2 video game scores of all time. And your remakes killed them in an amazing way. Well done
Nostalgic and glorious.
Amazing!!!!!
Superbe! thank you for your great work
+Etienne Gravel
My pleasure! :)
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. This is.... wonderful, WONDERFUL memories!
Thank you for this! :D
Increible tema!!!! me encanta
When playing these games, my imagination enhances the graphics and game play in my mind to make it feel more real. Just like reading a book. Your covers of the music do this in a way that is almost tangible. What was already great music for conveying the emotion and sense of adventure is now a fully immersive experience that has me feeling like I am only a step away from actually battling monsters just outside Baron castle. Please keep up the great work!
+Michael Alderson I'm glad it was able to inspire your imagination! I always have the original scene from the game in mind when I'm working on these (either the pixely version or my imagined version) and I'm not sure if that makes my arrangements any better, but I think it at least helps me avoid adding things that don't match the feeling that the scene is supposed to have.
wow, thanks man
This song reminds me when I played as a child.
god this version fo the soundtrack is so insanely amazing i almost shit my pants. no joke jack.
Magnificent.
I wish this music played when I walked around the world...
Yus! Epicness!
This was my first truly good RPG. This theme invoked so much of the sense of adventure and peril, but also made you feel as if you were traveling through a world of unspeakable beauty and majesty.
OMG SO BEAUTIFUL!! @_@
I never finished FFIV throughout all 3 playthroughs, but this theme stuck with me. Happy to hear it in such a divine form.
nostalgia....SUBBED!
OHMYGOD I AM SCREAMING 😍😍😍 Memories
One of my favorite overworld themes in Final Fantasy with an amazing orchestra remix... holy banana lord.
Much of this OST manages to upstage even FFVI’s. Good job.
This is epic.
Literally could not be more perfect
woah...just woah, amazing clap to you sir.
+inuart19 Thank you very much! :)
Oh, I’ll never forget this as my first ever RPG. I remember digging through my dad’s DS game collection, and finding the remake of 4. I remember him telling me “Ah, that one! You wouldn’t like it, there’s a lot of talking.” Oh my god, there was so much more than just talking. It was a story I’d never heard before. Friendship, betrayal, revenge. And this theme, oh this theme, man. It made everything feel so full of wonder, fueling my mind with ideas of where the adventure could take me next. I love this game so much.
Wow, this is insanely good!!! improved over the original and other remakes 10x! love the ending
+Reirid Thank you! I haven't heard all the other remakes yet, but my goal was to make the best one, so it's great to hear that you like it the most.
Where were you like two months ago when I was looking for a suitable version of this song?
In all honesty, this is what brought me to your channel, and it's been quite a while since I last felt like I made a real discovery on UA-cam. You're really good, better than most who do remixes. A lot of remixes are flat, or it feels like they're trying to upstage the original work with proverbial bells and whistles. This is a simple, effective enhancement of the original, as it should be, and I'm really impressed with what I've heard from you. Subscribed, and I'll be spreading the word to my friends.
+CranRightia Thanks so much! :) I really appreciate your comment and I totally understand what you're talking about. I actually started making these because I couldn't find many high-quality VGM orchestrations that capture the feeling of the original games. It seems a lot of arrangers and remixers want to put their own spin on a track to showcase their talents, but I personally prefer to stay in the background and let a good composition speak for itself.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic I'd just like to echo that comment by +CranRightia, your remixes bring already fantastic scores to life in an amazing way.
Epic
Masterpiece
Well done.
Tellement de bons souvenirs
damn this is so good. my fav final fantasy soundtrack
Bravo :)
Must've been so fun to create this bravo
I totally love it. That's the best kind of remixes, still being "only " the original but sounding like something new. There are way too much remixes in which the melody itself isn't audible between a bunch of background effects, or where the melody is changed too much.
As we all flow on through time
So many hours I spent with the fantasy....
This is still one of my favorite version of The Overworld Theme!! ❤
A good remake not only enhances but also captures the spirit of the original. Your work here does just that. This one can be a 30-minute extended. I would definitely leave it on. A very successful Uematso/Robinson collaboration.
+Malcolm Robinson Music Everything you make here is amazing. I thought long and hard about one thing to request from you -- and here it is -- Within The Giant. You could make this truly epic! Cheers man.
This was when walking around the map and grinding was actually enjoyable because both the overland music and the battle music were so good.
One of my favorite Final Fantasy musics. The style you've put into this song is perfect, sounds just as good as the original.
+Oscar Shi
Thank you! I did my best to make it feel as close to the original as possible. This may actually be my best remake so far.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic A strong Uematsu composition from the early 90's + Malcolm Robinson's modern libraries/faithful arrangement = musical perfection.
Now I can't die until i hear a FFIV underworld theme remix from you (among other songs from this and other games... so that was just a shameless request).
Always happy to see a new remix from you, and this was amazing as always,
+Kiraxio I'm glad you liked it! :) I've already planned out all 15 of the FF4 tracks that I'll do, and I left the underworld theme (a.k.a. Land of Dwarves) off the list because it's so similar to the overworld theme. It's the same issue with Golbez Clad in Darkness and Tower of Zot which have too much overlap for me to do both.
You win the internet, good sir!!
This is such a magnificent piece that has been refined into a beautiful piece! You've done justice to this wonderful music! Would you please kindly do Within The Giant? That will be an epic track! Thank you so much!
Your style reminds me of BitSymphony, subscribed. Looking forward to more FF songs in the future
+Muse Box Corner Thanks! I look forward to making more. :)
epic theme...
;_;
SHUT UP, I'm not crying- *YOU'RE CRYING!!!* ;___;
Right?!
I think we're all crying!
Que hermoso.....
The best.
The ending you made for this is absolutely fucking fantastic.
I've been using your rendition of this track to learn rhythm guitar and acapella, as well as Corridors of Time from Chrono Trigger.
I catch myself humming this and other Final Fantasy over world themes when I hike
