It appears that the band is continuing to follow the outstanding shoegaze path of *Deceiver* (which is my second-favorite shoegaze album of the century, after only *I Wasn't Born to Lose You*). DIIV's dense but ethereal sound continues to impress.
LOVE their sound. Six months ago i didn't even know who these guys were - then i caught them opening for Depeche Mode and all of us in the group were like "WHOA" this band is incredible. Needless to say we are all fans now!
They’re really good. I been seeing them live since around 2013 maybe been to over a dozen shows. They seemed to calm down a bit but their live shows used to be crazy moshing everywhere stage diving, loved it.
I watched this too early without coffee and thought it was real. Didn't understand what changed in this timeline where a band like this was allowed to perform on SNL.
I thought the exact same thing. This is what it would be like if Ken Andrews was another guitar player in Autolux. They are doing a lot of subtle My Bloody Valentine things with pitch shifting guitars as well. Happy to see something like this on SNL, checking them out.
The face changes and the background collapsing. The general watching. This was top tier. Reminds me of the intensity of DEVO on stage during the Duty Now for the future tour.
Oshin is one of my most favorite albums of all time, probably because it was so formative for me during high school. That DIIV remains a part of my youth. I'll admit I didn't keep up after Is The Is Are...but after hearing this, I'm excited to jump back in. And people said guitar driven rock was dead...also this SNL spoof is fucking hilarious.
DIIV is one of the very few bands, who are continuously developing their sound further...the first three tracks are promising, that the new album will be another pinnacle so far..Soul-net and BPB are masterpieces!
I got the same warm fuzzies I got when I listened to Galactic Cowboys, Failure and Sunny Day Real Estate for the first time back in the day, really cool band. Also if Fred Durst has stock in soul-net, I'm investing immediately.
I saw DIIV open for Depeche Mode at the Boston TD Garden. Their sound definitely filled the arena. Awesome. Their songs were longer than average, but that was a good thing. I didn't want them to end!
Me encontré esta canción en la radio y no la podía encontrar porque justo se quitó cuando prendí el shazam. Aparte de que mi inglés no ayuda. Pero por fin la encontré y es hermosa 🔥😩
Fantastic . I’m an honest guy. You’ve been one of my favorite bands for years . But this is the first video I’ve thought did you justice . Congratulations , this is really good.
I screamed u love you at dallas all night kme people followed but know that I was dude who whooooooood at granada theatre in dallas yall were just what I needed😊 as a depressed human I danced my aas off yes its just yall have the sound
I think, All of members are exceptionally artists on a global scale. It’s amazing thing, so, I’m impressed. I somehow feel, that deep place in their hearts there is something unseen sounds, unknown Rock 'n' roll.
Did anybody notice that the guitar melody towards the end sound a lot like "i only said" by my bloody valentine? if that's an intentional homage, i love it!
Saturday Night DIIV
Nice.
Soul-net saved my life
I knew capitalism wasn't the problem, it was me all along. thanks soul net.
I could really go for a cheeseburger right now.
@@McSquawk Exactly. Got damn she was juicy!
LITERALLY
The General is watching.
This album gonna be PEAK.
The ad at the end was unexpected
Did anyone else catch the call back to the guitar lick in "I only said" by My Bloody Valentine?
yeah! pretty obvious one
I got the chills hard when I heard it. Such a tasteful nod.
Yes! Chills right now listening to it
@@tenzinandrio1 yes chills
Why does this song hit so damn hard? The way the instrumentals just melt into one another feels so dreamy.
yes
The delicious chord and note choices, everything just flows perfectly. And the warm reverb applied to instruments and vocals.
It appears that the band is continuing to follow the outstanding shoegaze path of *Deceiver* (which is my second-favorite shoegaze album of the century, after only *I Wasn't Born to Lose You*). DIIV's dense but ethereal sound continues to impress.
I wasn't born to lose you omg yes, long live Swervedriver
Their sound since Deceiver reminds me of Failure and 00's Sonic Youth. Love it!
@@grey5963 Yes, Swervedriver are _veeery_ much correct 👍
LOVE their sound. Six months ago i didn't even know who these guys were - then i caught them opening for Depeche Mode and all of us in the group were like "WHOA" this band is incredible. Needless to say we are all fans now!
If you told me 6 years ago they would be on SNL I would have said B.S. I fully thought the tour with Ariel Pink they did was going to be their last.
@@garneroutlaw1u know this is just a joke for the music video.
@@Gerckified lol wow. What a troll.
They’re really good. I been seeing them live since around 2013 maybe been to over a dozen shows. They seemed to calm down a bit but their live shows used to be crazy moshing everywhere stage diving, loved it.
Just found these dudes...very interesting...🎉👌🙌✌️🤘ala Sonic Youth...old is new
Did I just watched the best SNL performance of all times?
sure, if it was an actual performance : )
Yes
I watched this too early without coffee and thought it was real. Didn't understand what changed in this timeline where a band like this was allowed to perform on SNL.
@shawn50510 they do allow it, they're just called Deftones in this timeline.
Yes i watched the whole show
It was real funny
Wow this song really takes me back to Failure’s Fantastic Planet.
Less dissonant, but I agree, the vibe is there. Dirgy and noisy.
I hope it was an actual influence.
I was about to say the exact same thing oh my god
X2
Failure was so good. DIIV hits different.
I thought the exact same thing. This is what it would be like if Ken Andrews was another guitar player in Autolux. They are doing a lot of subtle My Bloody Valentine things with pitch shifting guitars as well. Happy to see something like this on SNL, checking them out.
Literally sounds exactly like the studio recording, crazy
I’ve been watching this multiple times a day and it still hits like day one 😢
Same here
We’re on the same page buddy
prime trolling here, plus the song is FANTASTIC
It's super catchy. I love it, although their sound could really use another layer.
That ad at the end is the frosting on the cake. brilliant.

Chk out deciever
Deceiver is incredible and this is more of the same
DIIV is magic ✨️spread the word!
thank god music like this still exists.
bless DIIV
hats down to the sound engineer for making sound this live performance just like the record, and with that much amount of mics, legend!!!
The audio isn't live but it's a music video of them playing live for most shots.
just like the video, we are all being sarcastic here mate, in case you havent noticed@@IvanGarcia-mk6fk
not a live performance...
ever heard of sarcasm?@@jethro377
@@miguellaverde666 no, what is sarcasm?
Just when I thought it was impossible to like this band more, they come out with this masterpiece!
So happy they haven't strayed from the "Deceiver" sound.
wow i cant wait for fred durst and shane gillis to introduce diiv on snl
fred durst is a confirmed shoegazer
That's not him in the intro is it?
@@andrewalbertson1 Yes it is Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit himself
facts
No way
😂
the boyz are BACK
These guys are a prime example of always getting the sound dialed in real good!
You can't beat this band!!! I am so excited.
Keep watching this band they are going to make it huge and already have!!
DIIV is so good and consistent
Every couple years I wake up and see new music from a band that makes me so happy
DIIV is one of the very few bands, who are continuously developing their sound further...the first three tracks are promising, that the new album will be another pinnacle so far..Soul-net and BPB are masterpieces!
Fantastic! I saw DIIV play in my home city of Brighton & Hove a few years back. Always great hearing them.
Sick absolutely the best band since a hell of a long time.
U really think that is fact?
Full of Soul what A sound love it....DIIV is Magic...
DIIV has amazing unique sound I remember walking into Beach Goth in 2016 and remember saying "who's playing ?! Sounds so fucking good"!
About the same time seeing them live in silverlake, I always knew the world would eventually figure them out.
Aguante DIIV ❤
Brilliant. Love this band

This channels all the best sounds from the early 90s and makes it feel 2024.
The verve and failure. No doubt.
Thankful for this band
love you guys, your sound is Amazing, I keep following it all these years 🇧🇷

Suprisingly great with a moody shoegaze feel. 1st time hearing these guys. Loved the outro.
