I WAS THERE!!! My wife, daughter, and had tickets for this show. When we got notice that it was canceled, we were just down the street so decided to go to the venue and see if anything was happening. When we got there Kim was standing out front, alone, in the small dirt parking lot and she was very welcoming and chatted with us for quite a while. When they came to get her for this session she invited us in to watch them film. We stood on a redwood deck with their crew and a few others about 30 yards away, and silently got a private concert by The Breeders! They actually played for about an hour doing multiple versions of songs and I'm pretty sure they did one or two not on the video. Afterwards they came over and greeted us and took photos, and Kelly chatted up my daughter. It was so special. Two nights later we attended the make up show at The Chapel in S.F. and when they came out, Kim pointed to my daughter and said, "Hey nice to see you, glad you made it!" They are a great band and great people and really took the time to connect with us, but especially my daughter who has now seen them 6 times - well 7 times including this set!
God she was IT back in the day..the coolest girl, the hottest girl, the most badass of them all. Still is. Kim will always be one of a kind. She makes it look so effortless.
Man…I saw this band on MTV back when I was 12. 1993. I always loved them, but I was poor, and couldn’t buy a lot of cd’s and whatnot. Slowly, they just sorta disappeared to me in the chaos of the 1990s/2000’s. It was when I became a parent in 2008 I got back to them. A lot had changed, but also, so very little. Kim’s voice is still like that comfy leather jacket you put on. Smooth but warm, infinitely cool. It’s just rad they’re still here. Love y’all lots, guys!
like 25 years ago, I had just moved to Florida....met some people after a few months...we all met one day and went to beach. We went for a long walk to smoke and just chill, and after a while we could see a concert going on....I just said to my friend casually.....what is that a Molly Hatchett concert? Just joking around...we got closer and after 5 min we realized we had just walked into an actual Molly Hatchett concert going on. Mind Blown.
Glorious! I was a big Pixies/Breeders fanboy back in the early 90s and followed The Breeders around Boston to some in-store appearances when they were promoting Last Splash. Kim and Kelley recognized my friend and I while hanging outside their show at the Paradise ($8.50 a ticket!) and were super sweet to us. I'm a fan for life.
Same! I was weeping the whole video! I think I still had some stuck trauma from those days to let out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣And The Breeders were always my safe haven. ❤❤❤
So happy to see Kim and Kelly still performing as adults! Last Splash was the soundtrack of my young fatherhood while trying to get established as an artist in Santa Fe, NM. Now my kids are grown and I retired to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and my kids are pursuing their dreams in Queens, NY, and Helsinki, Finland. I don’t feel nostalgic, as I still listen to the Breeders, I am just happy to see them enjoying themselves and still playing music.
Beautiful. I love how happy the band look to be playing... Really lovely to see. Also...great use of animation and long shots of the Californian scenery!
I feel this lil awe in my stomach after seeing this. I saw them at my first music festival when I was 18 for their Last Slash reunion tour. I’m almost 30 and these songs hold special memories of my adolescence into adulthood. All my love, Breeders 💖
ah this brings back good memories being in my high school band and we'd have impromptu shows in the woods at our bassist's house just using all acoustic instruments and our drummer would sit on a cajon. Granted Big Sur is much more beautiful than where I was, but maybe one day I'll have the fortune of visiting.
??? is this comment for real? The Big Sur is the BIG SOUTH named by spanish explorers who could not find an anchorage or access to the land by sea the coast seems to go on for ever without any good anchorage & it was also a Southern Passage- it is defined by Highway 1 which runs along the coast- one of the most beautiful landscapes on planet earth- to the east is the redwood forest... so you don't buy the Big Sur & in fact the very few lucky people to live in that vast area there- are heavily permitted on what they can & cannot build... bcuz it is so inaccessible by sea the area has been preserved amazingly [accessing the coast from land = also very difficult] & one thing that will always be awesome about Cali despite the never ending efforts of the politicians to screw the whole state up [See California Uber Alles & sub gruesome for jerry brown] is the way the people are extreme when it comes to protecting the environment- that is something that should be normal not extreme = GOD gave us TWO places to LIVE- our body & this earth > tho the politicians are screwing that up unbelievably & beyond all recognition at the moment! I hope you were being ironic is what I am saying
Wow! Inspiring! I've loved revisiting these songs in a new setting acoustically and also on the journey through life. Now in my 50s compared to being a teenager! Kim is a powerhouse! And it makes me want to go back to Big Sur!
Do u realize , the Pod formed my very teenagehood , and Big Sur is the ONE place I have taken my boys to , on anything close to a vacation over the years cuz it's THE most beautiful place on earth.. !!!!!! Two nostalgias for one...and so many tears ... ❣️❣️❣️if they do "Oh".... I'll just collapse
It is certainly one of the most beautiful places on earth, no doubt. I get down there from Berkeley every chance I get, and when I lived in Manhattan and LA, I would either fly out or drive up the coast. I never tire of Big Sur, ever.
This is so life-affirming! I saw them just last night in London - electrified/electrifying! I think they enjoyed that too, as indeed did the audience (it goes without saying)! 🙂
@@CountDadLordI will not stand for any pixies slander! 😂 Kim was very important to the pixies and the pixies sound and they might not have reached as far as they did without her but don’t be shitting on my mans Charles Frank black Francis Thompson he wrote all of the songs and Kim toured with him for YEARS if you like the breeders and Kim don’t shit on my mans

Everyone sounds amazing! And in such a beautiful spot too. I also love that she still rocks the same Seagull acoustic!! (I still have mine from 1987:) 💚
freaking love these guys with my everything for all of my days!! wow, I have loved them forever and they just keep giving us the goods. awesome sisters kelley & kim are such an incredible talent and gift to the world and us all... thank you Breeders! and thank you so much for not retiring)
Oh my I had completely forgotten about how much I loved you folks until this popped up on my feed. I saw you at Glastonbury festival in 1992. Going to have to dust off my vinyl now. Love the acoustic renditions here though - magical!
Her former band, that hires and fires bassists like it's a corporation, were in town (DFW) last night. I stayed home and watched this instead. SO glad I did, this was beautiful. Can't wait to see the Breeders later this summer!
Lovely, just freakin lovely! Once upon a time back in the 90's, I used to have a "Kim Deal is my Spirit Animal" T-Shirt given to me by my girlfriend at the time. I sometimes wonder whatever happened to both of them? Think I'll go look for another t-shirt on-line, perhaps in a couple sizes larger now. Thank-you to The Breeders, for providing the soundtrack to some of my fondest memories!!
I love the fact that you guys still active. I love your music. I love your vibe. Thank you for being alive and making music at this exact time of this constant we call time.

Nope
Me too!
Love the Redwoods and the Breeders both.
The Breeders are a national treasure.
yes. forever and always.
Amen, bb!
INTERnational :) . But yeah...
who doesn't wish they were as cool as Kim Deal

I don't. I typically avoid unattainable goals.

Kelly Deal?

And we'll love for ever
Ain't that the truth. ❤

@@bunnychacha I was fixin' to post the same.
This whole band is like a big fuzzy industrial can opener that makes even the coldest of hearts burst open and feel the warmth of daylight.
best description of the breeders I ever did hear
Seeing everyone look so happy and sound so great is such a joy.
Imagine going on a hike and ending up at a Breeders concert.
lol
Speaking as a bear that’s been pushed out of southern California and who's new to the neighborhood i assumed this was a normal occurrence.

Playing music in a band is FUN and it's so good to see The Breeders still having FUN. I love it.

Singular talent, kind that turns up once in several generations, and tears me up inside
Nice to see that The Breeders bought Big Sur and I hope that they build a nice log cabin to live in and write more great songs.

The fact that The Breeders are still going just shows how vital and underappreciated Kim Deal was to the Pixies.
Dude, Kim Deal was the Pixies. Francis was just ornamentation.
@CountDadLord idk about that. Frank Black wrote almost every single song. But Kim Deal was a great part of it for sure
