I WAS THERE!!! My wife, daughter, and had tickets for this show. When we got notice that it was canceled, we were just down the street so decided to go to the venue and see if anything was happening. When we got there Kim was standing out front, alone, in the small dirt parking lot and she was very welcoming and chatted with us for quite a while. When they came to get her for this session she invited us in to watch them film. We stood on a redwood deck with their crew and a few others about 30 yards away, and silently got a private concert by The Breeders! They actually played for about an hour doing multiple versions of songs and I'm pretty sure they did one or two not on the video. Afterwards they came over and greeted us and took photos, and Kelly chatted up my daughter. It was so special. Two nights later we attended the make up show at The Chapel in S.F. and when they came out, Kim pointed to my daughter and said, "Hey nice to see you, glad you made it!" They are a great band and great people and really took the time to connect with us, but especially my daughter who has now seen them 6 times - well 7 times including this set!
like 25 years ago, I had just moved to Florida....met some people after a few months...we all met one day and went to beach. We went for a long walk to smoke and just chill, and after a while we could see a concert going on....I just said to my friend casually.....what is that a Molly Hatchett concert? Just joking around...we got closer and after 5 min we realized we had just walked into an actual Molly Hatchett concert going on. Mind Blown.
God she was IT back in the day..the coolest girl, the hottest girl, the most badass of them all. Still is. Kim will always be one of a kind. She makes it look so effortless.
Same! I was weeping the whole video! I think I still had some stuck trauma from those days to let out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣And The Breeders were always my safe haven. ❤❤❤
Man…I saw this band on MTV back when I was 12. 1993. I always loved them, but I was poor, and couldn’t buy a lot of cd’s and whatnot. Slowly, they just sorta disappeared to me in the chaos of the 1990s/2000’s. It was when I became a parent in 2008 I got back to them. A lot had changed, but also, so very little. Kim’s voice is still like that comfy leather jacket you put on. Smooth but warm, infinitely cool. It’s just rad they’re still here. Love y’all lots, guys!
Glorious! I was a big Pixies/Breeders fanboy back in the early 90s and followed The Breeders around Boston to some in-store appearances when they were promoting Last Splash. Kim and Kelley recognized my friend and I while hanging outside their show at the Paradise ($8.50 a ticket!) and were super sweet to us. I'm a fan for life.
So happy to see Kim and Kelly still performing as adults! Last Splash was the soundtrack of my young fatherhood while trying to get established as an artist in Santa Fe, NM. Now my kids are grown and I retired to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and my kids are pursuing their dreams in Queens, NY, and Helsinki, Finland. I don’t feel nostalgic, as I still listen to the Breeders, I am just happy to see them enjoying themselves and still playing music.
Last Splash was my first ever CD as a teen in the 90s. I still listen to that exact copy to this day. Finally got to see them live for the first time ever this year and I was so encouraged by their Live Vibe, now an even truer fan and maybe somebody Kim will be like a cool aunt to me bc that's how she makes me feel
Oh, and the Redwoods by the sea is my absolute happy place where I did meet some of my spiritual Aunts....in the 90s mind you ..when I needed help...they were there. the feeling of divine appointment and insurrection of what was holding me back and holding me down ... So glad to have 'found' this recording ❤
That Moth Man had a seat to one of best shows on the planet this 2024 year. Breeders healthy, laughing, looking young and having fun! Thank you! Fan since 1987??? Has it been that long???
The bass sound is so fat and fuzzy, everything sounds beautiful and those iconic velvety vocals…amazing. Must have been incredible to play in such a lovely spot. Xoxo

ah this brings back good memories being in my high school band and we'd have impromptu shows in the woods at our bassist's house just using all acoustic instruments and our drummer would sit on a cajon. Granted Big Sur is much more beautiful than where I was, but maybe one day I'll have the fortune of visiting.
I feel this lil awe in my stomach after seeing this. I saw them at my first music festival when I was 18 for their Last Slash reunion tour. I’m almost 30 and these songs hold special memories of my adolescence into adulthood. All my love, Breeders 💖

I love it! The Deal sisters and the Breeders are the best. Acoustic versions are super. I loved the Pixies up until Kim Deal left, afterwards only the Breeders. She gives warmth and joy to the music. The Amps were super as well- need to do that again too
Beautiful. I love how happy the band look to be playing... Really lovely to see. Also...great use of animation and long shots of the Californian scenery!

the best version of the song - really amazing.

Awesome set by one of the greatest bands of all time !
Kim and Kelly look so happy and healthy. Love to see this.
As much as I'd love this in any circumstance the background and the animations make this truly magical.
Interesting, as i found the animations so totally distracting away from the glorious nature scenes.
It was funny when the gorilla I think it was sneezed.
Seeing everyone look so happy and sound so great is such a joy.
Seeing the Breeders making music still just fills my heart with so much joy

Greatest band of the 90s that combines pathos, mystery, and joy.
Well said. Frankly, their songs hold up better than many bands of the early 90s
@@written12 there’s also a sexuality to these songs, to her voice, that feels sort of dangerous. A siren song to an unknowable land.

Great bassist & musician- her solo ambient work is also amazing love listening to all that- this is a real blessing for sure

The fact that The Breeders are still going just shows how vital and underappreciated Kim Deal was to the Pixies.
