She has the musician's voice, lol i don't really know what that means but i've noticed that all great musicians i like have this empathetic, calm, soothing tone to their voice, probably because they're more aware of the way it sounds than a lot of other people

This is what i love about UA-cam. I'd never heard of Ciani, but was recommended a video of her on Letterman. That led to me watching a few of her videos and finally this video 😊

She has the best philosophical explanations of what making music modular is all about!

I’m a third of the way through this interview and just finished watching your mini appearance on the Dave Letterman Show. I’m so glad I found you again. I loved your album, “Seven Waves” (1982), and am now enjoying learning about you a little bit.

Very nice video, One of my first experience with electronics was with a Buchla in 1982 EMS in Stockholm. Now i have one in my computer, trying to figure out how its works.
Thanks for a very nice video.

This is wonderful! I was at Mills in 1983 and 84. Before that I was part of And/Or Seattle's Soundwork Studio 1979-1083 where I first fell in love with the Buchla Synth. We had 3 cabinets, mostly 100 series with a few 200 series modules.

Not at all surprising that the Bay Area in the '60s was the cauldron she found herself in. Some of the SF bands like the Dead, Airplane and Messenger Service were very much into the fusion of electric instruments and feedback aural schemes. Light Sound Dimension was a adherent of electronic music before there was electronic music! Check. Caini is very present.

Liberal arts pastime! LOL! I feel ya! “There’s no making a living in music!”, exclaimed my father. They ( he & his co-workers wanted me to follow their path and become an automotive designer… I did well with art and design, but my heart was , and still is, in music!) ✌🏻😎🎹🌴🌞

at 17:34 when she talks about sculpting and leading the sound, it sounds like the way I use a Mushroom trip or an acid trip. I'll let it do its thing but I'm in control of where it will lead me.

What a beautiful artist! The Buchla (now I know how to pronounce it) looks terrifying, but I wonder if we've lost a lot by having thousands of VST synths available at almost no cost in comparison. I have all that and still couldn't make a decent listenable piece to save my life. Maybe less really is more.
