Rowland S. Howard will always be one of the coolest guitarists to me, weaving his stunning, shimmering tones from another world. Irreplaceable and unmistakable. While he is still sorely missed, we are lucky to enjoy his music for the rest of our lives!
Amen to that, Stephen! Not only his Birthday Party work, or the work on this and other songs from the first Crime and the City Solution album, but I HIGHLY recommend everyone listens to Rowland's writing and playing on the two These Immortal Souls albums, in my personal view his finest work, and two of the most glorious rock albums human ears will ever hear!
One of my favourite films. Saw it the first time on the silver screen some 11 years ago and already loving The Birthday Party and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds I hunted down afterwards the Crime + The City Solution's records as well. You can never go wrong with the Howard brothers, Mick Harvey and Simon Bonney.
Love this song, the two Wim Wenders masterpieces, but the scene that I love the most is that of the farewell ,before the circus closes shop for the season. That´s all.
On of my favorite films, and the one from which I discovered both Nick Cave and Crime, years ago. I saw Crime in the City last night in San Francisco, and Bonney looks startlingly unchanged!
Recently rewatched ‘Wings of Desire.’ This led me to discover that Crime and the City Solution is touring again. Excitedly, I’ve secured a ticket for their Poznan PL gig - a first-time live experience after years
the music was a huge part of the atmosphere of this movie. crime and the bad seeds were staples of the darker side of berlin at the time. it really makes me connect to the film.
I was down below Houston, on Rivington, and I heard someone say: Michelin, Michelin. And I thought, Well, this night wasn't gonna be so bad after all. Later I listened to Nick Cave with some friends.
Something like "He can see heaven" or "His eyes are in heaven just now." Sorry, I can not translate it correctly. The meaning is ambiguous. He is admirable.
Something I just realized looking at the actual movie: The woman sitting against the pillar by Marion is Bronwyn, right? You see her a little bit at 0:13 and more at 1:24-1:32 or so.I don't know why I feel like pointing that out. I just feel like I won a game of Where's Waldo? with musicians instead of striped shirt wearing nerds.
Always found Simon's vocals in these years to be rather sloppy but still tolerable.. Rowland and Harry really make this scene with that guitar and bass.. Rowland is incredible and stunning to watch here. Immortalized on film.

Just thought I'd drop this comment in. Lots of people said that Simon Bonney copied Nick Cave, from his moves to the singing style. Steve Miller of the Moodists and I were drinking beer and chatting about life, the universe and everything and he was talking about Simon Bonney coming over to the UK to do Crime & the City Solution with Rowland and that Nick Cave copied almost everything from Simon Bonney and they thought it might be tricky in England because people would think that Bonney had copied Cave, But it was completely opposite, Cave copied Bonney. Its just that Cave got to the UK first. .. Ok I've finished now.
+Ant H my simple thought is why not enjoy both of them i think both cave and bonney has excellent voices im not saying youre wrongbut both of them have proved themdelves talented and made great contribution to music The only singer that sometimes resemble them is Hugo Race
In den Weltraum treiben. Da ist er wieder mein Wohlgefühl wie im inneren meines körpers sie sanft eine Hand schließt. In the space moving. There it is again my pleasant feeling, as if from within my body slightly my hand grabs.
Ja sicherlich das sagt sie aber das klingt ganz anders, sie hat einen französischen Akzent, ich dachte mir vielleicht spricht sie im Abstrakt, nich wie der satz sein möchte.

Rowland S. Howard, the true genius behind so many acts. The guy is an unknown legend.
Hear hear! 👍
Wenders is the most sensitive film-maker when it comes to shooting music, as all his films attest. This is simply beautiful with no compromise.
Thanks for the new word "attest". This one fucks.
Le plus grand film de tous les temps, avec Crime & the city solution dans un morceau d'anthologie. Extraordinaire !!
From the Wim Wenders film Wings of Desire.
Two masterpieces in one.
I just love the guitar in this song sooo muckin fuch. Love you, Rowland. RIP
Such a crazy lineup in the version of the band. Harry and Rowland Howard, Epic Sountracks, Mick Harvey and Simon Bonney
Always good to see Mick Harvey
One of the most beautiful movies ever made!
i'm so glad there are some directors with a great taste in music.. because of the films i've known so many great bands!
Happy Birthday sweet guy. RIP Roland S. Howard. One of the best to ever do it.

It resembles so much Joy Division. Saw yesterday the Wings of Desire, beautiful. Great time, that, such a gravitas, so dark, raw and cool
That guitar sound reminds me of Hank Marvin and Dick Dale.
Lovely reverb, jangle and twang. Beautiful!!!
Love this song, the two Wim Wenders masterpieces, but the scene that I love the most is that of the farewell ,before the circus closes shop for the season. That´s all.

I love that particular scene so much❤️ for so many reasons
I see eye to eye with you
God this is good.. Beautiful movie and beautiful music..
one of the most underrated bands ever

so this is where elaine benes learned to dance! but seriously, this film is so beautiful and the dancing too.

Dark side of Berlin, what dark side?
@@TimeTraveller010 The one that no longer exists..... :(
@@nikita70 Why?
@@TimeTraveller010 Why what? Why does it not longer exist or hence my belief?
@@nikita70 No why what. I asked you what no longer exists and why it no longer exists. Omit chicanery and answer my questions. Waiting...
Just saw them live yesterday... perfect concert !
one of the best tunes ever; from a great film...
one of my all time favourites !!!

Howard+Wenders=Arte!🖤🖤🖤
My favourite scene, from my favourite film. Thanks for putting this up, it'sbeautiful

I have to see this movie...
Master Piece!!
Love it!
I so wish I was a German living in Berlin back in those times…
Love this
RIP Rowland!
divine

masterpiece!
So nice and movie also
I like zinc and steel PLUS I like Crime & the City Solution. More, not less. Love not hate.
Demasiado sensual!
From the movie "Der Himmel über Berlin" ("Wings of desire"), by Wim Wenders
Always found Simon's vocals in these years to be rather sloppy but still tolerable.. Rowland and Harry really make this scene with that guitar and bass.. Rowland is incredible and stunning to watch here. Immortalized on film.
Sloppy, tolerable...
LYRICS:
This is where it starded
The trucks, the trees and her six bells
Now babys going to loock back home
I'm wearing my clean clothes
Yeah I still got the ones you gave me
You've been treading some unsafe ground
And baby looks tired tonight
Out amongs the pikes and narrow streets
You go around
I hear the six bells they're ringing
Yeah the six bells they chime
LeoStayTrill 'Pink Lemonade (Str8 Reload)' Official Lyrics & Meaning | Genius Verified
Lay down your head now
You will sleep sound
I will hold onto you
Through lifes time
You're seventeen
You're are seventeen at this time
I wear your silver rings
With your hand on my heart
Left your there with your grey eyes
Pack up their suitcase and leave
Raise my hand up to the sky
Now don't you touch me
Don't you cry
An age ago you would'nt touched e
On the last day
We will always be fighting
A promise
A year of luxury
Perfect
Perfect kiss
How long my long lost
Will the last day be
I'm innocent of you there
And you of me
And you will sleep sound
I will hold onto you
In lifes time
You're are seventeen
You're are seventeen at this time
I met you when you were a young girl
Years and years six bells back
Six bells passed above the two
On a pier in another time
Well I drew your body close to mine
You held your head up high then
You reached inside then
I would give you everything
At this time
My pretty one
My fearless one
From this time
My fearless-one
My young pretty one
The six bells - I made them ring
Lay down your head now
You will sleep sound
I will hold onton you
Until deaths time
You're seventeen at this time
You're seventeen at this time
awesome..
Crown Prince of the crying jag 🔥
To hell with Cave, hail Rowland.
favorite.

Great fucking movie this is and a great song!

My comment was pointing out that Bonney didn't copy cave. I wasn't bitching cave.
i understand that i did not say you did
Remarkable how similar they sound, uncanny right?
I believe you. That's how it goes. God bless everyone.
film capolavoro

Mick Harvey
What is the woman saying around 2:02?
She is Japanese.
I'm glad I came to the concert
It's amazing, it's like looking into heaven.
I used a translation app
Fuck, Roland was cool.
Love love love but this is the Birthday Party not Crime and the City Solution. But seriously. How fucking great is Rowland? OMG
👁El ojo
What is the girl saying from 1:58 to 2;05?
What does the girl say (think?) at 2:00 ?
princessriley123 I wanna know, too.
funny story. I WAS 17 at this time.
Have you moved on to 18?
what IS music then?
senza dubbio ... bella canzone sprecata... per un film di mer...
Qui dit mieux?
ROWLAND S. FUCKING HOWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
does someone know what is the japanese girl is thinking?
‘He is not looking here, he is looking at the sky. Everything is great”
If it has anything to do with the Umbrella Academy, I will be shocked
Great song. Annoying dance.
This shit is so out...
This shit is never out. This is the shit. This is the shit dreams are made of.
