In my opinion, the movie is absolutely great. But I feel like we needed more of Bob and Linda, I get the movie is about Louise, I adore her, I love them all. But we really needed some more of Bob and Linda.
I think that it failed because of poor marketing. I heard about it a few months before it came out and was so excited but then there was so much going on in the world I completely forgot about it.

I saw in theaters and loved it. it holds a special memory in my heart because when me and my Fiancé saw the movie I was pregnant like 7 months or close to 8 months, and we went to red robins before the movie (they have those impossible burgers) I was jealous that my Fiancé brought his food to the theater because I ate mine at the restaurant
Whats really interesting is that the season after the movie actually changed their opening credits to have the hole and water in it and do the grand re-re-re-re opening sign. Fitting the continuity of the show.
I loved the Bob's Burgers movie, and I didn't know there were fans that were disappointed with it. I will say, if people really want Bob's Burgers to have more music in it they should probably watch Central Park. Same creator, very similar tone, but the show is a full musical with multiple songs per episode. I actually made a video about that last month trying to convince people to watch it because I think it's a phenomenal show.

I feel like people compared it something like The Simpsons Movie expecting the plot to be really “big” I guess even though Bob Burgers in general doesn’t really plots like that.
Pretending to be satisfied with an extremely mediocre storyline doesn't make you better than people who expected more, they were working on this movie FOR YEARS! It was boring and predictable, there are episodes of the show that are way, way better! The problem is that they TRIED to make it a big plot! They should have focused more on something funny and entertaining, not Fishodor's cousin trying to murder him 🙄

Just because you people watching this video somehow liked it means nothing, the majority have spoken and the majority have agreed that it was not good. Again I'm a huge fan of the show, I'm not some random hater, but the movie was awful. There are many episodes of the show with a better story and more well written.

i didnt realize how much i listened to Sunny Side Up Summer until it came up as my most-listened to song in 2022. Its okay though, because I still love it and the show just gives me so much joy
i dragged my boyfriend to watch the movie with me, and i loved it! i don’t see how much better a movie based on a show based on the mundanities of a poor working class family. it wasn’t too huge or out of the bounds of the bobs burgers universe. it was like an hour long episode!
Always happy I saw the movie in theatres and was able to go even see it with my mother because it was one of the best experiences I've ever had going to see a film.
I think there’s sort of a love triangle between Tina, Jimmy Jr., and Zeke- Tina likes J-ju, J-ju and Zeke have a bromance, and Zeke and Tina have a sorta one-sided rivalry.
I love how in the season before this movie you can see the sinkhole starting to form and the ground sinking infront of the restaurant and people tripping over the ground in the background
haha i had hair half way down my back and cut it so I could cosplay as gene for the day it release. My mom dressed up as Linda....sadly my 2 sisters weren't available for the role of tina and louise, and i used to watch bob's burgers with my dad before he died and he thought it was the most wholesome adult cartoon...also he was a pastor...he wouldnt even come close to watching a full episode of family guy but he'd binge bobs burgers with me
The reception of this movie was so bizarre. I remember seeing multiple reviews of it by people who admitted that they had never seen the show, and they hated how many songs were in it.
I'm surprised that people say the movie wasn't grand enough because, imo, that's kind of the point of the show. It's not going to space or travelling the world like the simpsons, nor is it whacky cartoony adventures with giant chickens and nonsensical characters like family, or whatever the hell south park is doing (I'm not saying any of those are inherently bad ofc) Bob's Burgers is a simple show about everyday life. Family and working and trying to scrape by. Imo, it would have been more annoying if the movie WAS a grand adventure about travelling the world or going to space, because that's not what the show is. It's a simple, slightly more dramatic, elongated episode with much better animation and fun songs. (I'm also glad they didn't go full musical, despite my love for musicals, because I feel that would have been isolating fans who love the show but aren't into the musical scenes)
I feel like "Sunny Side Up Summer" is the *perfect* Last Day of School song. It just has that vibe to it. Every time I hear the song cue up, it reminds me of waking up on the morning of the last day of school. The sun's well already up in the sky, people are getting ready for work, it feels hot and hazy outside... even for a morning, and you're about to head out and walk those halls for the very last time...
Certainly does deserve more credit. All I can say about Bob's Burgers Movie and the TV show, is if you get it you get it, and if you don't get it, you just haven't watched it enough yet. I had a dear friend of mine over last weekend and we had Bob's on the TV. He said he hadn't really gotten that into it, and some time later in the evening with it just running in the background and hearing some of the great dialogue he said I guess I need to give this another chance, and I told him he wouldn't regret it. He and I have very similar taste so he should get hooked. Thanks for the great vids about Bob's Burgers.
another thing that i loved about the movie was the subtle change in animation style. more movement and shadows it is such a small detail but to an animation student is cool to see
I love this movie!!! I watch it on loop (my family are very concerned) and I know most of the dialogue and all the songs. I thought that the kid’s inner conflicts were all written really well, each exactly to suit their personality. The realistic issue of Bob and Linda struggling with the restaurant but solving it in such a dumb way was really funny in my opinion. I’m not a film critic, I’m just someone who’s REALLY passionate about Bobs Burgers.
When I saw this movie I couldn't help but compare to how I felt when The Simpsons Movie came out. To me Bob's Burgers Movie is way more theatrical than The Simpsons Movie. I actually REALLY like the Bob's Burgers movie, for all the reasons you mentioned in the video.
i was high on lsd the first time i watched it. the extra details to character movements and the extra detail with lights and shadows really tripped me out. in the beginning when tina starts her song and the three kids are walking and dancing was wild with the extra character movement.
I watched the movie yesterday, never watched the show but i loved it! The songs were all so good and charming, full of character and the Burguer Family was so pleasant to watch; Bob and her wife's dynamic was so wholesome, specially at their breakdown when they were being buried by the villain The three kids were also very entertaining, Louise's struggle with how she sees herself and how much she cares about what people think about her was so relatable, i lost myself on these characters stories and personalities! I might go back to listen to the movie's songs separately because i loved them all so much, such a jam
I am a huge fan and I consider the movie one of my favorite episodes. I only have 2 gripes. 1) The villian is too obvious. It could have used a few more red herrings 2) I wish Jimmy Pesto was recast. Other than that it rocks.
1135 - 11:58 Phew! Thank god, I thought I was the only one bothered by this. I mean, this does make some sense with the more monotone characters like Bob and Tina, but for expressive and energetic characters like Linda, Gene, and Louise, it's just totally off-putting. I expect those three to smile a lot more than they do.
I Love the series but the main problem I had with the movie was that they already basically did the same plotline in the season 4 two parter finally (Warf horse or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town) and (World Wharf II: The Wharfing or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town ) The plot is very similar with a greedy member of the fishoder family tries to kill the owner of the warf owner / destroy the warf in order to get alot of money. I wanted to like the movie but I thought it was too similar to the episodes. The music was fine in the movie but the songs all nice things are nice and the reprise all bad things are bad in the episodes are just peak bobs burgers songs. Its my favorite episodes and I thought the movie was just a weird retelling with felix not being the threat and some alright side stories.
I saw a review by someone who didn't like the movie, they have never seen the show. They thought the humor was odd and only fans of the show would like the movie. Making it a niche movie, that only a few people would like. Yet they said that they really liked the music and wanted more of that. Which I thought was funny because the music is basically the same humor that is in the show/movie. Just told in a catchier way with a tune and dance sometimes.
I managed to avoid a single interaction with Bob’s Burgers until I watched the movie on streaming and I immediately started the series. I LOVED the movie! And now I LOVE Bob’s Burgers. Perfect loving family animated sitcom!
I have all the seasons plus the movie on reapeat in my playlist and I have it on for comfort and when I sleep. It´s my kind of white noise that helps me. The animation of the movie is so beautiful and I loved the movie when it came out. I was confused at first that Louise was so heavily affected but since the comment came from Chloe which seems to be another issue; i accepted it as one of the rare cases where she was afraid or felt challenged since she obviously thought about the issue beforehand. First I just loved the first song of the movie right away, same with some of the plotelements (but with further viewings I adored every song for different reasons, same with the storybeats).....but it had everything a Bob´s Burgers movie should have. I am glad Louise and Bob were at the center and that the stakes match the more dramatic episodes of the show and not go haywire. Bob`s Burgers is my comfort show because it is grounded and tells simple but character heavy stories. I love all the sidecharacters. I sometimes miss the darker humor from earlier seasons but for the most part I love the simple and calmer stories they tell now. The last Christmas episode, where Louise read a poem, thinking none of the family would see and Tina......(I get teary eyed just thinking about it) and the other episode where they are just stumbling around the cemetary looking for the grave of Bob´s mom just are touching. The fact that the kids wanna do something different and while they still make smart remarks, they do support their Dad in finding the grave and try not to make to much of a fuss. All those episodes that show how this family loves each other is the reason it stands out for me from other animated family shows. They actually like each other and are supportive. The gags are not for offence or shockvalue but stems from the quirkyness of the characters. The scene where Louise threatens the musicshop owner with her John Wick speech always makes me laugh. The fact that she only vaguely knows that something bad happens to the puppy is just funny to me.....considering that the show eluded to Louise having watched all kinds of grown up stuff in the past. Bob´s Burgers voice actors are so good that even one of them just saying a word in a certain way or making an emphasizing noise can make me laugh. And there are so many good jokes in the movie.....some of them I actually noticed in later viewings since my adhd ass can get pretty distracted but even in the show I notice things in the background, jokes and other shit that makes me appreciate the show more. Grover trying to light the stupid fuse always makes me giggle, Linda punching Bob "metaphorically" in the dick and too much more to mention. Those arw not even my favourites but they were the ones that came to mind while writing this......distracted.
I personally LOVED the movie. I love the show and the way the movie stayed true to itself. Then when I learned they had given hints to the movie in the previous season and keep it going in the season after the movie.. Chefs kiss 😘
Great movie, I was actually surprised how engaging the plot was and how well it translated into film format. The animation was absolutely gorgeous (the lighting and attention to detail was a big step up from the show, not knocking the show at all but it made a difference and kept think interesting for me throughout). I love bobs burgers so probably biased but one of the top animation movies I’ve ever seen.
I been watching the show since, literally, day one. I watched Human Flesh over and over on my PSP, since I was a kid who couldnt afford to buy anymore episodes. I loved it immediately and I looked for it on the TV, on the computer, all the time. It's my favorite show of all time, and I adore the movie. I've seen it about 13 times and bought the blu-ray.
fans find it boring? I think it is really enjoyable to watch, and it takes the simple format like the episodes but with a criminal plot which is really good. It does not take it in a fantasy kind of way like the Simpsons movie did
I have to admit, even though I'm a huge bobs burgers fan, I've seen every episode probably 5 or 6 times over, but even I wasn't a huge fan of the movie the first time through, but for me it was the dancing movements and songs not hitting right, but I've come to love it after another few watches.
I absolutely love this movie. I have watched it countless times. And I loved listening to your thoughts on my favorite movie and show. But I love the Ollie quote at the end the most.
me as a bobs burgers long time fan i wish tina and gene were more main characters in the movie (they are the reasons i watch the show)but at least that leaves the door open for another film
My favorite part of the movie was that it took an already aired episode and completely blew it up with more back story and character development. Now when I watch any episode it makes me think of how much more there is to the story!
i am a huge bobs burgers fan and i was so excited to find out a movie was coming out! it has been over a decade since a 2d animated movie was on the big screen. i watch bobs like everyday for years it's my comfort show, but i've only seen the movie once. i guess i didn't know what to expect plot-wise, and i love all the character growth the characters went through, but the plot itself reminded me too much of the 2-parter finale of season 4. that was the only thing on my mind when i was watching so i guess i was a little disappointed and thought they would come up with a fresh new idea for the movie
@@Mannof1000Thoughts But anything big like in South Park Ladder to Heaven they mention Satan and Saddam relationship with the movie being brought up , and in the Simpsons Ploper Pig appears and Mr Burns was going to put another dome over the town only to stop when told it's been done .
The only thing I know is that in the intro has been updated when stuff kept happening to the restaurant, the sinkhole from the movie is shown. Grover will probably be brought up at some point at least.

I saw the movie in theaters - the first and only movie I've seen in theaters since Covid - and the only complaint I had was that I missed the first five minutes because my local theater stopped showing twenty minutes of ads before each movie
To be fair I kinda loved the movie, it is just like those 2 part episode, and the plot is strong enough to keep the viewers anticipated, though they do expand it a bit more to make it 90 minutes long(with some dance and songs which make me thought they were THAT close making it like a Disney musical😂), and I hella loved they added the burst water main and the hole in the opening sequence for re-re-re-re opening for episodes onwards, these details made me keep loving this show(and with Season 14 they've been killing it with every episode, they are all very good!).
As someone who doesn't particularly enjoy sitting down and watching a movie I have watched this entire movie at least three times since coming out on Hulu after having seen it in theaters opening week so I think you are correct sir 🙌
Just started watching, but how is it misunderstood? Everyone understands the show and the movie, it's like the show but bigger, better animated, and has the time to have every single belcher family member have a personal plot. All the fans I know love the movie and have no issues whatsoever with it. Although I am aware it was a failure at the box office. I'd arue it was due to the lack of publicity and also the fact it didn't come out in cinemas, at least not in my country
totally agree with everything u said. i think louise having the main arc was so perfect. because of the fixed timeline she’s always 9, so the movie was the best chance to show how much she could grow. also the voice actress (whose name is escaping me as i type this on my phone) has talked about how she’s the only woman in the main cast (and obvs tina and linda’s characters are still women) so that could’ve played a role in making her the “lead.” i don’t love the idea that someone isn’t a “real/true” fan if they didn’t like the movie, i think some people might’ve set their expectations too high.

I really wish you didn’t point out the expression thing in later seasons cause now I can’t stop seeing it! The movie was good though, they really used that animation budget with the dancing.
I think the reason I found it lackluster is it ironically for the series doesn't have enough musical numbers. They start strong but then it isn't until the climax we get music again.
I like the film Its a fun movie but I feel like we have funny episodes, the mystery was kinda meh, the songs were good but I feel like once again the show has stronger songs. If the movie had the emotional impact of last years Christmas episode then I think it would be talked about more. As it is, its a longer episode of the show and there is nothing wrong with that but its hard to get people in theaters for that or to buy it.
Hey man I love bobs burgers, loved the movie. I wouldn’t have watched it if it was only a musical so idk who was asking for that but heck no. You tricked me tho, I thought the video was over randomly in the middle, that was funny and a good ad break. For your intro cards, I know you worked a lot on them but that intro goes on way too long for me, I believe half that length would still be more than enough. Great video analysis tho, nice to see a series I like NOT getting hated on. Ima subscribe
I saw the movie on my first ever trip to New york in a theater on Broadway so it'll always have a special place in my heart, but I can see why people would think the movie is boring because the show is kinda boring. In the way king of the hill is boring. They're Both great shows and I watch bobs religiously so it's not like I don't like it but it is kind of slow, low-stakes and grounded for a cartoon. It relies on you to really care about the characters and what they go through. (I still cant watch the scene with Bob's mom without crying) Which is fine for 22 minutes but can be hard to sit through for 90. Especially if your sense of humor leans more toward physical comedy and slapstick than dialogue and situations.
I don't buy that the critics are real fans. Sounds more like ppl who never stfu about the Simpsons even thou they haven't watched the show in 20+ years
My only complaint is that “My butt has a fever“ wasn’t somehow fit into the plot, rhat song slaps and i was very disappointed when it didn’t actually show up, that being said “some lucky ducks” was also a banger

Dunno how any fan would be disappointed in this movie. Bobs burgers is my favorite tv show of all time. I adore it. And the movie is everything the show is with the budget to make it the most fluid and beautiful version of the show we’ve ever seen.
I wasn't optimistic about the movie. I was a massive fan of the show, but I'm really skeptical of adaptations, spin-offs etc, I hadn't really been enjoying the most recent series so much, and I didn't think the trailer was great. It had just come out at the cinema and I was feeling crappy (unrelated) and my family all decided to go watch it. It made me so happy, it exceeded my low expectations by miles, it made me laugh, and the songs from the soundtrack are probably on my Spotify most-listened playlist more often than not because they cheer me up. I don't think it's perfect, but it makes me laugh, feels like bobs burgers, and has a really exciting cinematic look and soundtrack , proving that bobs burgers deserved the opportunity to flex that muscle. Most people I know really liked it too! Every member of my family, which is unusual. Also, imo Grover fischoeder was probably introduced in the series on purpose while they were developing the movie, since I believe they did work on both in tandem? They do add the sidewalk outside getting messed up in the series pre-movie which shows they were considering that sort of thing. If they'd just added him as a new character for the movie I think it would have been too obvious that he was the villain, but they clearly didn't want it to be someone who was such a regular character that they would suffer for not having them in the show again
I feel like the music complaint only works if you remember that the creators also made Central Park which has amazing music as part of its DNA. But the movie is good, and the songs are pretty nice.
I love Bobs Burgers and when I watched the movie I loved it! the only thing I wished was that there was one more song in there because lucky ducks and sunny side up slap!!

I liked the movie. It's got heart and is goofy as hell, just like the show. It's just dialed to 11, so it's amaaaaazing.

My mom dressed up as Linda....sadly my 2 sisters weren't available for the role of tina and louise, and i used to watch bob's burgers with my dad before he died and he thought it was the most wholesome adult cartoon...also he was a pastor...he wouldnt even come close to watching a full episode of family guy but he'd binge bobs burgers with me
The reception of this movie was so bizarre. I remember seeing multiple reviews of it by people who admitted that they had never seen the show, and they hated how many songs were in it.
I'm surprised that people say the movie wasn't grand enough because, imo, that's kind of the point of the show. It's not going to space or travelling the world like the simpsons, nor is it whacky cartoony adventures with giant chickens and nonsensical characters like family, or whatever the hell south park is doing (I'm not saying any of those are inherently bad ofc) Bob's Burgers is a simple show about everyday life. Family and working and trying to scrape by. Imo, it would have been more annoying if the movie WAS a grand adventure about travelling the world or going to space, because that's not what the show is. It's a simple, slightly more dramatic, elongated episode with much better animation and fun songs. (I'm also glad they didn't go full musical, despite my love for musicals, because I feel that would have been isolating fans who love the show but aren't into the musical scenes)

I feel like "Sunny Side Up Summer" is the *perfect* Last Day of School song. It just has that vibe to it.
Every time I hear the song cue up, it reminds me of waking up on the morning of the last day of school. The sun's well already up in the sky, people are getting ready for work, it feels hot and hazy outside... even for a morning, and you're about to head out and walk those halls for the very last time...
This film deserves so much more credit than it got! It was fluid, funny, and festive. I bought the bluray and watched many times on hulu.

Certainly does deserve more credit. All I can say about Bob's Burgers Movie and the TV show, is if you get it you get it, and if you don't get it, you just haven't watched it enough yet. I had a dear friend of mine over last weekend and we had Bob's on the TV. He said he hadn't really gotten that into it, and some time later in the evening with it just running in the background and hearing some of the great dialogue he said I guess I need to give this another chance, and I told him he wouldn't regret it. He and I have very similar taste so he should get hooked. Thanks for the great vids about Bob's Burgers.
another thing that i loved about the movie was the subtle change in animation style. more movement and shadows it is such a small detail but to an animation student is cool to see
I love this movie!!! I watch it on loop (my family are very concerned) and I know most of the dialogue and all the songs. I thought that the kid’s inner conflicts were all written really well, each exactly to suit their personality. The realistic issue of Bob and Linda struggling with the restaurant but solving it in such a dumb way was really funny in my opinion. I’m not a film critic, I’m just someone who’s REALLY passionate about Bobs Burgers.
When I saw this movie I couldn't help but compare to how I felt when The Simpsons Movie came out. To me Bob's Burgers Movie is way more theatrical than The Simpsons Movie. I actually REALLY like the Bob's Burgers movie, for all the reasons you mentioned in the video.
i was high on lsd the first time i watched it. the extra details to character movements and the extra detail with lights and shadows really tripped me out. in the beginning when tina starts her song and the three kids are walking and dancing was wild with the extra character movement.
I watched the movie yesterday, never watched the show but i loved it! The songs were all so good and charming, full of character and the Burguer Family was so pleasant to watch; Bob and her wife's dynamic was so wholesome, specially at their breakdown when they were being buried by the villain
The three kids were also very entertaining, Louise's struggle with how she sees herself and how much she cares about what people think about her was so relatable, i lost myself on these characters stories and personalities! I might go back to listen to the movie's songs separately because i loved them all so much, such a jam
You calling them the Burger family is an unintentional reference to a joke from the show

I am a huge fan and I consider the movie one of my favorite episodes. I only have 2 gripes. 1) The villian is too obvious. It could have used a few more red herrings 2) I wish Jimmy Pesto was recast. Other than that it rocks.
I watched the film when I was on season 3 so I hadn't seen Grover or Calvin. So I fully believed it was Calivin
1135 - 11:58 Phew! Thank god, I thought I was the only one bothered by this. I mean, this does make some sense with the more monotone characters like Bob and Tina, but for expressive and energetic characters like Linda, Gene, and Louise, it's just totally off-putting. I expect those three to smile a lot more than they do.

I Love the series but the main problem I had with the movie was that they already basically did the same plotline in the season 4 two parter finally (Warf horse or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town) and (World Wharf II: The Wharfing or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town ) The plot is very similar with a greedy member of the fishoder family tries to kill the owner of the warf owner / destroy the warf in order to get alot of money. I wanted to like the movie but I thought it was too similar to the episodes. The music was fine in the movie but the songs all nice things are nice and the reprise all bad things are bad in the episodes are just peak bobs burgers songs. Its my favorite episodes and I thought the movie was just a weird retelling with felix not being the threat and some alright side stories.
I know that it was only briefly shown in this video, but you should really make a video on Central Park, because that show deserves it!

I saw a review by someone who didn't like the movie, they have never seen the show. They thought the humor was odd and only fans of the show would like the movie. Making it a niche movie, that only a few people would like. Yet they said that they really liked the music and wanted more of that. Which I thought was funny because the music is basically the same humor that is in the show/movie. Just told in a catchier way with a tune and dance sometimes.
I managed to avoid a single interaction with Bob’s Burgers until I watched the movie on streaming and I immediately started the series. I LOVED the movie! And now I LOVE Bob’s Burgers. Perfect loving family animated sitcom!
I have all the seasons plus the movie on reapeat in my playlist and I have it on for comfort and when I sleep. It´s my kind of white noise that helps me.
The animation of the movie is so beautiful and I loved the movie when it came out. I was confused at first that Louise was so heavily affected but since the comment came from Chloe which seems to be another issue; i accepted it as one of the rare cases where she was afraid or felt challenged since she obviously thought about the issue beforehand. First I just loved the first song of the movie right away, same with some of the plotelements (but with further viewings I adored every song for different reasons, same with the storybeats).....but it had everything a Bob´s Burgers movie should have. I am glad Louise and Bob were at the center and that the stakes match the more dramatic episodes of the show and not go haywire. Bob`s Burgers is my comfort show because it is grounded and tells simple but character heavy stories. I love all the sidecharacters. I sometimes miss the darker humor from earlier seasons but for the most part I love the simple and calmer stories they tell now. The last Christmas episode, where Louise read a poem, thinking none of the family would see and Tina......(I get teary eyed just thinking about it) and the other episode where they are just stumbling around the cemetary looking for the grave of Bob´s mom just are touching. The fact that the kids wanna do something different and while they still make smart remarks, they do support their Dad in finding the grave and try not to make to much of a fuss. All those episodes that show how this family loves each other is the reason it stands out for me from other animated family shows. They actually like each other and are supportive. The gags are not for offence or shockvalue but stems from the quirkyness of the characters.
The scene where Louise threatens the musicshop owner with her John Wick speech always makes me laugh. The fact that she only vaguely knows that something bad happens to the puppy is just funny to me.....considering that the show eluded to Louise having watched all kinds of grown up stuff in the past.
Bob´s Burgers voice actors are so good that even one of them just saying a word in a certain way or making an emphasizing noise can make me laugh.
And there are so many good jokes in the movie.....some of them I actually noticed in later viewings since my adhd ass can get pretty distracted but even in the show I notice things in the background, jokes and other shit that makes me appreciate the show more.
Grover trying to light the stupid fuse always makes me giggle, Linda punching Bob "metaphorically" in the dick and too much more to mention. Those arw not even my favourites but they were the ones that came to mind while writing this......distracted.
I am not sure if I can include this song, because this is a song that lead up to the movie, but My Butt Has A Fever was pretty catchy and funny XD

I personally LOVED the movie. I love the show and the way the movie stayed true to itself. Then when I learned they had given hints to the movie in the previous season and keep it going in the season after the movie.. Chefs kiss 😘

Great movie, I was actually surprised how engaging the plot was and how well it translated into film format. The animation was absolutely gorgeous (the lighting and attention to detail was a big step up from the show, not knocking the show at all but it made a difference and kept think interesting for me throughout). I love bobs burgers so probably biased but one of the top animation movies I’ve ever seen.
I been watching the show since, literally, day one. I watched Human Flesh over and over on my PSP, since I was a kid who couldnt afford to buy anymore episodes. I loved it immediately and I looked for it on the TV, on the computer, all the time. It's my favorite show of all time, and I adore the movie. I've seen it about 13 times and bought the blu-ray.
fans find it boring? I think it is really enjoyable to watch, and it takes the simple format like the episodes but with a criminal plot which is really good. It does not take it in a fantasy kind of way like the Simpsons movie did
I have to admit, even though I'm a huge bobs burgers fan, I've seen every episode probably 5 or 6 times over, but even I wasn't a huge fan of the movie the first time through, but for me it was the dancing movements and songs not hitting right, but I've come to love it after another few watches.
I didn’t expect it to win any awards, but I still thought it was a really fun movie and deserved more love

i am a huge bobs burgers fan and i was so excited to find out a movie was coming out! it has been over a decade since a 2d animated movie was on the big screen. i watch bobs like everyday for years it's my comfort show, but i've only seen the movie once. i guess i didn't know what to expect plot-wise, and i love all the character growth the characters went through, but the plot itself reminded me too much of the 2-parter finale of season 4. that was the only thing on my mind when i was watching so i guess i was a little disappointed and thought they would come up with a fresh new idea for the movie
this Bob's Burgers movie is Great and is just as Great as the show of Bob's Burgers

The only thing I know is that in the intro has been updated when stuff kept happening to the restaurant, the sinkhole from the movie is shown. Grover will probably be brought up at some point at least.

I saw the movie in theaters - the first and only movie I've seen in theaters since Covid - and the only complaint I had was that I missed the first five minutes because my local theater stopped showing twenty minutes of ads before each movie

To be fair I kinda loved the movie, it is just like those 2 part episode, and the plot is strong enough to keep the viewers anticipated, though they do expand it a bit more to make it 90 minutes long(with some dance and songs which make me thought they were THAT close making it like a Disney musical😂), and I hella loved they added the burst water main and the hole in the opening sequence for re-re-re-re opening for episodes onwards, these details made me keep loving this show(and with Season 14 they've been killing it with every episode, they are all very good!).
As someone who doesn't particularly enjoy sitting down and watching a movie I have watched this entire movie at least three times since coming out on Hulu after having seen it in theaters opening week so I think you are correct sir 🙌
Just started watching, but how is it misunderstood? Everyone understands the show and the movie, it's like the show but bigger, better animated, and has the time to have every single belcher family member have a personal plot. All the fans I know love the movie and have no issues whatsoever with it. Although I am aware it was a failure at the box office. I'd arue it was due to the lack of publicity and also the fact it didn't come out in cinemas, at least not in my country

totally agree with everything u said. i think louise having the main arc was so perfect. because of the fixed timeline she’s always 9, so the movie was the best chance to show how much she could grow. also the voice actress (whose name is escaping me as i type this on my phone) has talked about how she’s the only woman in the main cast (and obvs tina and linda’s characters are still women) so that could’ve played a role in making her the “lead.” i don’t love the idea that someone isn’t a “real/true” fan if they didn’t like the movie, i think some people might’ve set their expectations too high.

I think the reason I found it lackluster is it ironically for the series doesn't have enough musical numbers. They start strong but then it isn't until the climax we get music again.

Its a fun movie but I feel like we have funny episodes, the mystery was kinda meh, the songs were good but I feel like once again the show has stronger songs. If the movie had the emotional impact of last years Christmas episode then I think it would be talked about more. As it is, its a longer episode of the show and there is nothing wrong with that but its hard to get people in theaters for that or to buy it.

I saw the movie on my first ever trip to New york in a theater on Broadway so it'll always have a special place in my heart, but I can see why people would think the movie is boring because the show is kinda boring.
In the way king of the hill is boring. They're Both great shows and I watch bobs religiously so it's not like I don't like it but it is kind of slow, low-stakes and grounded for a cartoon. It relies on you to really care about the characters and what they go through. (I still cant watch the scene with Bob's mom without crying) Which is fine for 22 minutes but can be hard to sit through for 90. Especially if your sense of humor leans more toward physical comedy and slapstick than dialogue and situations.
I don't buy that the critics are real fans. Sounds more like ppl who never stfu about the Simpsons even thou they haven't watched the show in 20+ years
My only complaint is that “My butt has a fever“ wasn’t somehow fit into the plot, rhat song slaps and i was very disappointed when it didn’t actually show up, that being said “some lucky ducks” was also a banger

I watched this movie in theaters while eating a burger and LOVED every second. I don’t understand the hate, it has the humor we love, great music, and beautiful graphics!
Dunno how any fan would be disappointed in this movie. Bobs burgers is my favorite tv show of all time. I adore it. And the movie is everything the show is with the budget to make it the most fluid and beautiful version of the show we’ve ever seen.
I wasn't optimistic about the movie. I was a massive fan of the show, but I'm really skeptical of adaptations, spin-offs etc, I hadn't really been enjoying the most recent series so much, and I didn't think the trailer was great.
It had just come out at the cinema and I was feeling crappy (unrelated) and my family all decided to go watch it. It made me so happy, it exceeded my low expectations by miles, it made me laugh, and the songs from the soundtrack are probably on my Spotify most-listened playlist more often than not because they cheer me up. I don't think it's perfect, but it makes me laugh, feels like bobs burgers, and has a really exciting cinematic look and soundtrack , proving that bobs burgers deserved the opportunity to flex that muscle.
Most people I know really liked it too! Every member of my family, which is unusual.
Also, imo Grover fischoeder was probably introduced in the series on purpose while they were developing the movie, since I believe they did work on both in tandem? They do add the sidewalk outside getting messed up in the series pre-movie which shows they were considering that sort of thing. If they'd just added him as a new character for the movie I think it would have been too obvious that he was the villain, but they clearly didn't want it to be someone who was such a regular character that they would suffer for not having them in the show again
I feel like the music complaint only works if you remember that the creators also made Central Park which has amazing music as part of its DNA. But the movie is good, and the songs are pretty nice.
I love Bobs Burgers and when I watched the movie I loved it! the only thing I wished was that there was one more song in there because lucky ducks and sunny side up slap!!
