I like how this lore implies that David Byrne, lead singer of the Talking Heads, just decided to work on a random Spongebob game one day and never told anyone.
i like to imagine him, still wearing the big suit, sitting at a chunky 00's era computer drawing sprites. there's an interview with him where he mentions he painted the album cover for "speaking in tongues" in a funny way.

I would geniunely love like a VibingLeaf-style retake of this with a bit less abruptness that makes it a little more clear what’s going on. Like, Mr. Krabs tells you stories that foreshadow the next level but slowly his wartime PTSD gets triggered and the workd changes to reflect his mental state. Like instead of a few normal levels followed by reliving Mr. Krabs’s biggest fears, it’s Mr. Krabs telling a story that slowly devolves into the horrors he witnessed during the war (which he was canonically in by the way, that was established in _Krusty Krab Training Video_ and was never elaborated on again). Like it starts off with a GBA game very losely based off of _The Flying Dutchman's Treasure Hunt_ but then slowly devolves into Mr. Krab’s severally scarred mind as he’s reminded of the pains and loses he’s endured.
Like, the sulfer and the City of Heads and the ash and literally EVERY LEVEL AND BOSS (Aside from the Squidward one) after the shift is forshadowed, so why not tie it all together?
Okay, so I'm pretty sure that those line mister Krabs said we're bits from stories by H. P. Lovecraft.

Ok completely random detail I noticed that I love: in the bad ending, the music playing is the end credits theme from SpongeBob. A lot of people find this song unnerving because we don’t hear it when watching SpongeBob naturally. It’s a really cool detail that adds to the creepiness!
i honestly always just really liked that song and thought it was sort of the cherry on top of an episode ending when i got to hear it again

@@ohnopenope2417 it's not 'scared', it's knowing how harmful AI is. AI voices are taking the literal voices from real people without their consent, ruining the chances of the voice actors getting a job because of the company thinking they said something that they did not.
Various VAs, such as Erika Harlacher, Kellen Goff, Jessie Pridemore and Belsheber Rusape Jr., are all against AI and have voiced this loudly on Twitter, yet nobody is listening.

Another Spongebob horror game I would like to recommend is Around the Clock at Bikini Bottom, which is a first-person fangame that's also a tribute to the series, referencing various points in Spongebob's history, to the plot being based on one of the more modern episodes, and referencing things from some of the video games.

Joe from quality assurance is a great guy. he came to my kid's birthday party after work and didn't even try to eat the other guests! and my kid loved the party trick he does where he can make the whole room dark just by holding completely still! dont know why the other guests were crying or trying to break open my doors, but i sure am glad Joe made sure nobody could escape!

Okay, I have a great theory for the bad ending.
I think the red Spongebob we see is the REAL SpongeBob we play as, and the one we usually play as in the levels is just an illusion. He found eyes, in which that was what he wanted. Because he was eyeless. I believe there was some sort of cult in the game studio in which revolved around eyes, and eyes are considered the window to the soul.

I think just having the weird dialogue and imagery without explaining what the story is really works and leaves you wondering what it's all about.
