Someone needs to take this to the next level and make a proper "Build Your Own Station" map. Just have the map be a massive asteroid (preferably randomly generated with lavaland mobs and all) and on a single side, just have a pre-constructed cargo bay (for ordering stuff) and a massive shuttle docking wing that has a shuttle for every department, holding all the equipment that can't be ordered. Then tell the admins to take pictures of finished stations so people can vote on the best ones.

PERFECT! just how we all like it, falling apart, needing repairs after two minutes of arriving on station, and most likely lights going out in chemistry because explosions, what MORE could you fucking ask for?

For future reference, if you're mining, keep your mining bag in one hand, pick in the other. keep the highlighted hand on the bag, and any rocks you run into will be automatically mined as long as you try to move in their direction.

Be honest, if you gave a dwarf fortress dwarf a space ship, they would totally start building in space.
The utter inability of everyone on the station to just wait their god damn turn when hauling stuff during the first ten minutes of that round was equally painful to watch and hilarious.
It's kind of what you'd expect, no?
They'd had to have rehearsed this situation to be orderly and efficient. Like, single file everyone goes one way together. Then they drop everything off and go back single file and enter the shuttle. They'd need to have something set up like road construction does to change lane directions. Which is something security could do, if the wern't off doing whatever.
I'd say that was the big let down here, no security. There was not even shitcurity!

That one was hilarious. Proper space gypsis... Grabing everyting what not nailed down.... Few month ago done something similar on FTL with a few guys, load the shuttle and escape. But unfortunatly didnt ended well since someone accidentally awoken somekind of extraterrestial tetra hypermorph god, what got pissed about it and slaughtered us one by one....

Fifty minutes in and it's definitely starting to look like a real fortress... needs more bright green vomit to really perfect it, though.

we did something like this years ago on /tg/ everyone went to lavaland and within 30 mins that shit was up and running with individual houses for people set up via miners using their bluespace capsules and setting the gps tags

Open plan actually reduces usable space because there are fewer walls to place objects against and/or place shelves and such...
If you just had one massive square, where would you actually put anything? Where will you run pipes and wires? How would you segregate functions and rooms, including privacy and a focus of purpose?
So, it turns out, there is a setting on /vg/ to select random character slots instead of whatever you tried slotting in as, this resulted in my meme character getting picked, who also rolled for some horrific speech disability.
at 43:00 you can see my failed attempt to advertise my bar and socilict booze to people (I honestly was too caught up to realize that was Tex).
was a fun round though.
For like the first 20 minutes the internal affairs agent turned into an impromptu QM...Almost as if he's done that job before...But why would a QM abandon Cargonia to become an IA agent?
