I always wondered what path I should take for repairing my weather-damaged quarter windows. The hell you went through getting these to look somewhat decent is far more than I want to do. Thanks for another great tutorial. Love the work you put in. Gets me amped up to work on my stang.
Wow! I have never seen those things look that good....EVER! You did a great job. If you ever do another foxbody just let me know. I have several sets of these that I have saved over the years. I can restore them and they will still be flexible just like factory. I have coupe as well as hatch quarter glass. The car is coming alone great. I am impressed.
Just got a nice hatchback with minimal rust issues and a blown motor, got a good motor to swap in. But the quarter glass moldings are dry rotted pretty bad, just ordered a set of covers like yours. Hopefully I can get them fitting this good, definitely going to raid Harbor Freight for clamps lol.
Really digging your channel. I used to be a Foxbody guy but I just picked up a SN95 last year. I just watched your transmission videos too, I haven't tore into a transmission since college a decade ago and after watching those videos I think I can handle it if my T45 ever goes out lol
Yeah those were to far gone for shore I was able to save mine using polyester glaze and SEM flex primmer then used SEM trim coat turned out great . Awesome to see someone use these plastic covers and make them work. Are you going to get a new set FOX Restoration just start to restore these and made the rubber molds for hatches now. Granted I believe is not going to be cheap. Glad I was able to restore mine keep the videos going very detailed content .
Thanl you brother! I appreciate that.. these were just so far gone. Not to bad for what they are. After shes running ans driving I may change them out.. we'll see...
Sometimes you have to look at what your time is worth. I would buy new glass and put some Mustang vinyl stickers on it. You would probably have to put new decals on every so often. Of course you would probably face the same issues with the replacement glass...
My quarter window is leaking water. You think this will help it? My rubber piece on my window is dry rotted and it looks like I can see factory holes. Thanks for your advice and help.
I was actually able to do some digging and saw this other videos with the same factory holes. I wish I could send it to you bc I screenshot it. But I think you’re right. I was thinking it was coming through those holes but I don’t think so anymore.
Anytime bro. This repair is just the outside cover.. get those windows off, check for rot on the body, reseal and you'll be good to go... standard round buytl tape...
Yeah the holes I saw were to line up the window. Ah nice to hear! You save me some money on this expensive build I already have going. Love your ole stang btw, very beautiful! Anyway thanks for everything Tony, much appreciated 👍
Im not a fan of the covers either.. I think they get a bad reputation mainly because of the various installation methods people use... Bonding them this way is the best chance of them comming out decent... If you try it lemme know how it works out for you..
You have done to kick ass of a good job on that car to put those window covers over those quarter glass windows..as much is I agree with you about the mustang in the glass I think I would have to go with the black ones from LMR or hunt you down some really really good ones on eBay.. I found a really nice set when I started restoring my car on eBay or you can send them to foxresto.com for a full off glass restoration that are remade from your original glass like the factory did it.. www.foxresto.com/1987-93-Hatchback-Quarter-Window-Reman-Service-p/21087022.htm clink this link and it should take right to that section of their website.. your car is kick ass and I love the color!!!
You make a good point... ill most likely replace them with the new ones in the future... I gotta spend the money on a ton of other stuff to get her running.. its a journey for sure...
LMR sells new hatch windows for $399. Im putting these caps on my coupe windows since you cant buy coupe windows at all. My window rubber is even worse than yours, its so dry rotted and faded away.
For sure buying new windows is the best route to go... this is a decent fix to save the old ones... sometimes when you build a car like this you have to look at where you want to make sacrifices in cost.. if not you can be over 100k easily in the end and i ended up about 35k over budget on this one..lol

Thank you brother! I will definitely keep that in mind... the covers are ok... they still have their flaws...
Great job on your build. Its coming along great! Need a coupe driver side quarter if you ever run across one.
My friend your video just made my day i bought a set around 10 years ago and never installed them now i remember why

You definitely make a good point about the time.. Ill probably change them out in the future.. well see how they hold up..

Without seeing it I would say Its gonna be the buytl gasket between the glass and window frame...

I don’t like the covers. But the way you done them looks nice. New option in the future 👍🏽

Take your time and they will look good and youll get used to it! Lol
Looks better but, all the money you put into the car itself looks weird. Don’t like how it doesn’t fit even to windows moldings for doors .
