Nice sympathetic refurb. I’ve got a good few of them. I was going to refurb and sell them on as a part time hobby but I can’t part with any of them now ! I’m not so much a collector as a hoarder.😁
IVE heard of these lamps be 4 this is the 1ST 1 I have seen until just now alot of things I have heard about and haven't seen most was made be 4 my time 😮😮 in the 1940s , 1950s or be 4 then and there's things alot older than that I didn't see any I remember growing up years ago it was hear about things that U didn't see or never knew they were even made 😊😊 OMG 1O 14 2O23
im gonna sub ,for one simple reason , your not wearing them stupid black Nitrile gloves that every restoration channels use ,finally someone who is,nt frightened to get hands dirty .dont ever wear them gloves ,for some weird reason all these other resto channels think they look professional .if they wear them ,it,s bloody daft , i,ve been rebuilding motorbikes engines for over 40 years . and never worn gloves . it takes away from the feel .

The amount of machining and hands-on effort to fabricate that lantern is astounding.

Beautiful result. Thank you for sharing !
Your welcome, lamps have been a small hobby of mine for a little while now.
I’ve got nearly dozen ready for restoration over the coming months.
need some oil in that pump until the leather soaks up some(been rebuilding them for a few years)
The end of the pump where the non return value is was a nightmare to get off on mine
Please can somebody tell me what was used to soak all the parts in to clean them prior to polishing?
Very impressive 👏👏💚💙💜

Can you do an inverted lantern rebuild?
Hi Ed, would love to.. however they are not so common over here in the U.K.
I’ll keep my eye open and hopefully find one soon.
