Very good video and highly informative. On the document upload section would hurt if we upload as many documents as we have to avoid any issues as there is no clear guideline mentioning how many documents are mandatorily required. The only correction/update is regarding DD for BLS as there is an option to pay directly to the BLS via debit card/cash which is mentioned in the website.

I surrendered my Indian passport for cancellation waiting for SC, my wife is still an Indian Citizen just got her PR last year. I have noticed that on the OCI checklist it has 4 types, Type A is Fresh OCI, Type D is OCI on indian origin spouse. I am confused between these two options.
1. In my case as I was born in India regardless of my spouse I can apply for Fresh OCI(Indian origin is established as the applicant is Indian Passport holder(self) right? And not by my spouse correct? So Type A in my case right?
2. Also, do I have to wait 2 yrs after marriage to apply / it’s only for those who apply under Type D.. which is on indian origin spouse basis.
3. Do I need marriage certificate? If so I have it from local Sub Registrars Office in India, will this be accepted?
4. I am unemployed and no work, how should I fill those professional details?

Hi Yash, in your case you don’t have to wait for 2 years for OCI. You choose self for roots to India. You will submit marriage certificate as documents since you are married and sub registerer is one is good. LMK incase you have any further doubt

Question: In my Indian Passport I DO NOT have any surname (it is blank) and only have a Given Name. Hi Adnan, since you are 18 year old you come in Adult category and will select unmarried as option. If you have recently relinquished Indian citizenship (I guess that is the case) you will choose roots to India as “self”. No need to give parents marriage certificates, this requirement is for minor. @@canadatriedandtestedoriginal m separated not divorced and I don’t want to go ask her for her passport copies and stuff and I don’t wanna wait tlll divorce is completed to get my OCI and worst of all idk if they add spouses name on OCI. I don’t want her name on my card. It’s complicated

@user-hn4ki8su6e hi I am sure there are others in similar situation. Can you call BLS once. You can mention that you cannot get passport details however for record you will still be asked marriage certificate
