R.I.P. Amy Winehouse. I was on vacation in the Midwest when I heard that she died. It was in July 2011. I had just entered Chicago and checked into a hotel. First thing I saw on the news on the hotel room's TV was that Amy Winehouse had passed away the previous weekend. I was a fan of her song "Rehab".
No,...even though it been done before, like Nirvana, like it all had been, she was an extremely rare breed: the Billy Holliday of the 90's!!! I only saw her on TV from time to time, but it was obvious. The world lost a great talent. R.I.P.😔 🤘🌎❤️
I'll admit I'm uneducated in most of Amy's music but there's no way, shape, or form I'd put her on the musical level of Nirvana. As a matter of fact I can only name one of her songs and Adele is possibly the only other artist she might have paved the way for. Nirvana completely changed the musical landscape. Now, outside of music I can see the point you're making. Personal troubles intertwined with music was a theme with both of the artists and both died in eerily similar fashion. But with that said I'd probably compare her to Janis Joplin.
Hi John!!! Mmmm i don't think so..... to me the most signifivant similarity is their tragic deaths and trouble lifes, but i donpt see that much. cheers and be well

Yeah, it was very sad. I thought her albums Back to Black was very good.
I think if Kurt were still alive, he would have really liked her. That’s as much as I can say
Yeah, that's true.

Yeah, that's true. Janis Joplin was another good comparison. I would give her music a chance. She released 2 albums and her 2nd one was the big one.
