Yamcha needs more respect. He was a competent fighter in Dragon Ball
No joke, I love Yamcha, he's my favorite db character. Sad he never got his moment to really shine.
On god. Looking at the latter end of that last clip from super, everything said about Yamcha is an insult played off as a joke which really sucks since he's my favorite character. I always love the wolf fang fist and the spirit ball.
he will be a beast in moro arc
@@jeremyb3096 Super's one wasn't just shameful even, it was self-defeating as far as approaching and educating fans go but especially as far as a funny filler goes.
Which comedic filler has that bs slandering from characters to other characters.
Toriyama needs to write him better
Not just yamcha but tien and goten. Even during the moro arc they tien who should've no problem insulting mageta look a like or beating him but was turned into punching bag instead.
When tien and yamcha were fighting a juiced up upper henchman instead of defeating him to show their growth, toyo and tori decided to have goku rescue them
Seems like unlike some other techniques, the Spirit Ball has always made contact with its target.
Better than vegetas technique ™️
@@impelledcinnamon5736 and vegeta still stole his girl
Better then destructo disc, yet his girl left with all _her_ money
At least throughout DB, Z and especially at the end of Z he gets his respect and nostalgic appearances.
Super just takes punches st him instead of producing funny fillers, this and Trunks' future getting erased is the worst and most lazy thing to come out of Super.
That’s true but it’s doesn’t do shit
whoever animated that first spirit ball ep in dragon ball is the goat
the detail in the hand, and the way it twitches is amazing
the animator was hisashi eguchi
The way he spins it around and when the outline gets thicker is fucking beautiful
And to think, every frame is hand drawn. No aid from cgi, not even the ability to duplicate and tweak the same frame digitally. Just a guy, a storyboard and a light box. If that's not raw, hard earned skill, blood sweat and tears, I don't know what is. 👏😎
@@emeraldflower921 that's not easy to do AT ALL. You can get the same better result if you draw digitally nowadays if you have the same talent. Just because it's harder to do, doesn't mean it's better at all.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the insane amount of ki control you probably need to pull this technique off?
Fr, it looks pretty hard to pull off. The humans in this show have some insane ki control.
@@anotherrandomguy8871 yea just see roshi. Back in DB, this was a very broken technique. At least compared to Krillin's Double Tsubikidan, but it was still easily countered by Piccolo.
Sounds like Yamcha should have been the first SSGSS
Yamcha's a master of ki control I think. He was also the first user of a ki-empowered strike technique that we see, that being his Wolf Fang Fist, and it's all internalized ki at that.
Throughout the series, its made pretty clear that humans have insane ki control and masteryof martial arts despite their low power level
The aliens, despite being stronger than anything on Earth, are just really fucking stupid at using ki and their martial discipline is horrible (They can't focus their ki for the most part, their techniques are extremely basic, and their physical combat is very poor, relying on their raw power to win fights)
Sadly, Dragon Ball doesn't give wins to mastery. It gives wins to whoever has a bigger number. So this difference became not so clear after the Frieza saga, when power levels got WACK and you couldn't keep up without artificial power ups that made you 200% stronger than your enemy, and also humans were slowly dragged out of the spotlight
It's nice to know that even in his darkest days, Yamcha will have Puar to boost his spirits.
It's the only reason he didn't commit suicide lol
Yamcha in any other story would be the protagonist lmao.
Things Yamcha doesn't have: Saiyan genes, Bulma
Things Yamcha does have: Dope ass personality, good looks, style, badass looking techniques, the prototype of the spirit bomb, and a glorious mane 👏😎
Also: 😺
And he did have the second on the list for more than 15 years when she was younger so still not bad.
One saibaman ruined his life
Spirit bomb and spirit ball are completely unrelated
@@DefinitelyFroggyDioBrando definitely didn't ruin his character. it's more iconic now than anything when I remember when it aired way back in the day. More saiyans and aliens started showing up how would you expect a human to compete? Yamcha is my all time favorite and even though it only happens in small bursts he is getting the respect he deserves. That I can appreciate.
Fun fact: In the original Dragon Ball manga, Yamcha only used the Spirit Ball once. One single time, and it was the first one against Kami.
Yep the rest are fillers and Super, with Super being just a big mess.
@@GLDragon93 Wasn't the tarbles thing canon?
@@Mark-tq7bf nope films aren't canon and the general consensus is that they are in a different timeline that followed the a pattern/theme:
Dead Zone/Garlic Jr = Piccolo Jr saga (end of DB, before Raditz arrival. Has a canon setting but Piccolo never knew of Gohan power until he striked Raditz. While here he's the one who defeat Garlic Jr to everyone astonishment)
World's Strongest = Saiyan saga (mid-saga as, Goku's alive and know of Kaio's techniques. Also Bio-Man = Saibaman)
Three of Might/Turles = Saiyan saga (all z fighters are alive, vegeta and nappa were defeated and Gohan turns Ape once again)
Lord's Slug = Namek saga (early) (Goku knows of namek but never went there, mock super saiyan form)
Cooler's Revenge = Namek saga (late) (freezer defeated, vegeta dead, Krillin alive, Goku returned to earth with the gang)
Return of Cooler = Early Android saga (Vegeta SSJ, Android 17 and 18 probably never got activated)
Super Android 13 = Late Android saga (13 has a similar concept to Cell absorbing other androids to power up, 18 and 17 were defeated and cell doesn't exist as Dr Gero secret lab with Cell never got destroyed and instead hosted these new androids)
Broly the LSS = Cell saga (Cell was most likely defeated before the tournament, but no SSJ grade 2-3-4 and Gohan is a SSJ but not at 2nd stage. Broly design influenced Trunks SSJ grade 3 one)
Bojack unbound = end of Cell saga (most canonish setting of the films, a bit after the tournament, Trunks come back again telling he defeated the androids and joined the tournament)
insert Broly cashgrab movies x2
Fusion Reborn = Buu Saga (end) (Paikuhan is not canon, it's just buu saga 2.0 with
a counterpart to Vegeth in Gogeta and cameos of past villains and more Goku SSJ3 action)
@@GLDragon93 There is a problem. That movie and DBS ones are canon. Look it up xd
Yeah one can even tell from the settings.
Though it was great to have Yamcha use it not only in that relevant Z Fighters King Kai training but even in the Movies, not only having him there but going at it though.
Super is shameful instead.
Love how the only move that actually connects or does it’s intended job 100% of the time is from the character that is considered the weakest Z fighter aside from Chiaotzu.

@@coke4kidz How did you even get to the conclusion that Saitama has a power level of 400? He is faster than light and is easily able to destroy entire landscapes which is considered a lot for someone who is only of 400. Raditz was light speed during his fight against Piccolo and Goku. Saibamen are close to his power and Yamcha couldn't dodge one despite being able to sense ki. He was more or less at light speed then. And look at Saitama. He moves effortlessly in black hole's gravity which even light can't escape. He is easily much faster than light.
The Yamcha that fought Saibamen can never defeat Saitama.

Honestly yamcha could have been so much more of they just gave him some real attention. The spirit ball is one of the most badass attacks and unfortunately we never see it because of how fucking powerful Goku and Vegeta are now. I miss the old days.
Yea but they kinda can’t do that without a massive time jump, a toriyama handjob, or an ass pull of motivation so he goes in the hyperbolic time chamber because his power is really low compared to the other z fighters.
@@adrianolimaco8500 eh if he’s gonna give handjobs to saiyan and androids, and frieza just from training offscreen, then he might as well do so with Yamcha and Tien too. Everyone has already kinda gotten a time jump or power handjob, but unfortunately no one would think to do the same for Yamcha and Tien, and Tien actually trains all the time.
@@adrianolimaco8500 I mean, Roshi already got a handjob, so why not Yamcha?
what if.....yamacha still remains weak but has an op.trchnique? just a total glass canon. he gets hit he basically gets vaporized but due to his mastery of ki he never has to fight head on. I just miss yamacha and tien man
The fact that Goku, who always "copies" _(a fancy way of saying stealing) other's techniques, hasn't for once thought to use this technique is a gross oversight.
Vegeta smirking at Yamcha’s improvement was rather surprising and wholesome
He did?

I think he was smirking because he knew he was about to wipe the floor with Yamcha.

@Mezzy Mez vegeta was smirking bc he finally "figured out" the game; he didn't know how to play baseball before, seeing how yamcha played he thought the point of pitching was to attack the batter which is why he pitched next
Yamcha's Spirit Ball is probably my favorite ki attack in Dragon Ball, and it's still really disappointing that they never fully explored the cool things you can do with ki. The existence of techniques like the Spirit Ball, Destructo Disk (and on that token the Special Beam Cannon), and the Mafuba imply a whole world of extremely interesting things that they never really address.
Which I guess is my way of saying that I think the Tournament of Power showing a whole bunch of different universes with different ways of using ki was really hecking cool
such a shame that he was turned to a meme, he had such cool techniques...
Yamcha is a true warrior and badass in my heart and no one will say otherwise
It's honestly quite nice to see yamcha fight and when he did he sure did know how to make it look cool
If you think about it, Yamcha is a genius when it comes to techniques. He basically did spirit bomb but with his own spirit energy.
It's a spirit bomb made with your soul
Yamcha getting a big W is one of the best things in dbs.

@@siya2195 debatable
@@siya2195 Dragon Ball as a whole is better than Naruto
@@jirenthegray5776 u biased. Dragon ball is the first anime I've watched. I love it but Naruto's darker mature narrative and all the unique characters that can die and not be wished back makes it more satisfying. Plus DBS is a bunch of fan service sacrificing depth for nostalgia
Remember, yamcha moped the floor with Moro's men and held his own against Zauyogi , one of Moro's top dogs in DBS manga and it's cannon. Definitely not a weak fighter.
Wait he did?
@@Eeveethegamer26 Yup!
One of the reasons why i started reading the part 2 of the dbs manga. Was yamcha getting his first win hopefully they will make it even better when it gets animated but unfortunately they are still doing Tien so dirty......
@@footballnotsooccer600 True, Tien deserve much better.
Honestly, by the Android Saga, the human fighters, minus Roshi(due to being more or less retired) and Chiaotzu(due to most of his potential being in his psychic abilities) were all strong enough to probably hold their own against 50% Frieza from Namek.
So Yamcha was the first of the fighters to develop his own technique and using spirit energy rather than Ki...How is he considered one of the weakest fighter's? Maybe the most untapped potential.

It’s such a shame an unfunny meme ultimately ruined an otherwise competent character. I’m only half fangirling for him when I say that
Nice to have the Movies doing him justice together with all the other Z Fighters like Piccolo etc.
Z Movies just acquiring another reason of greatness.
If it weren't for how the internet treated him throughout the years, he would've been portrayed entirely different in Super.
I always thought it was Vegeta stealing his girlfriend that did him in.
Yeah, i feel like for the dragon ball saga and movies he was a pretty great fighter. He had good techniques and it’s disappointing as to why a meme ruined his potential
@@jcolez5913 if it were up to me I’d make Yamcha x Launch canonical
The art style and animation in the first clip are beyond amazing. Love that rough look
Seeing him lead a team of Galactic Soldiers in the Dragon Ball Super manga made me so happy he actually did something he had a fight and did his part in it Yamcha is the 🐐
Yamchas been defeated twice now by Goku's mentor in disguise
Almost 3 when he called mr popo a beach ball
yamcha is ok in dbs but in moro arc he is a complete beast cant wait for dbs2 to get animated
Imagine trying to prove yourself to Vegeta by defeating Yamcha...... and then failing
That is embarrassing, being defeated by what vegeta considers the weakest is def humiliating (Yamcha is still my number 1 character btw)
Yamcha would of probably mastered the spirit bomb before goku
would have
Yamcha was actually done very wrong in most of the series. In DragonBall he was the most cool yet amazing fighters. I wanted to root for him always. Not mention his attacks always hit opponents
I really love sokidan's gimmick because yamcha really need to pay attention on the ball really tight to get the hit done. Its basically the remotely control version of the first early genkidama tbh
You know, Yamcha has to be the most UNIQUE character in Dragonball next to Tien, Chaotzu, and Krillin. If he trained a little bit more with Tien, he’d be way more powerful. But of course, he’s reduced to a joke
It doesn't matter if he trained or not, they just forgot about him. I don't know why Yamcha and Chiaotzu weren't fighting the frieza corps when Frieza returned to earth in Resurrection F/Golden Frieza saga. I wish the human Z-fighters had a spin-off series where they showed their power without the saiyans/namek/buu... showing up to save the day

Always was one of my favourite attacks
The Spirit Ball Attack is a VERY cool attack. Yamcha made it so epic in the first fight. The way he surprised Hero with the ball coming right back up from under ground.
Such a shame Yamcha never got his moment to REALLY shine like how Tien got his against 2nd form Cell.
One of the coolest looking techniques, but never gets used or shown much because Yamcha got phased out immediately.
The old take on Yamcha's voice was so much better. Deep and confident, instead of now where it's full on goofy surfer-dude. Chalk it up to yet another bungling of his character.
Also, side note, what's with everyone except Videl and Puar bein total bitches during the baseball game?
Japanese subs there normal
I love how for Toriyama it was a one shot idea he never used again while the anime staff keeps using it as his own personal technique.
Because Toriyama didn’t use Yamcha. He abused him.

I love the dub and their silly lines.
“I had no idea he was good at something”
3:26 is it just me or does Yamcha say spirit bomb?
He does, because that is the REAL Spirit Bomb :-)
Translation error, it’s still sokidan in the Japanese.
I got so wrapped up in that first scene that I forgot it was going to switch to another. Now I want to watch Dragonball.
"My grandmother can gather energy faster than that". Sick roast right there
That soukidan in yo Goku and his friends returned was badass. And he saved Bulma with it as well.
I always liked this attack, it was way cooler than the spirit bomb IMO.
The thing about sokidan is that yamcha can control when his spirit ball can explode. He can use it to hit the target multiple times before blowing it in the targets face.
I miss when Yamcha was relevant
"i didn't know he was good at something"
Damn 18, I thought you weren't gonna kill him in this time line
Honestly Yamcha has the most untapped potential, and if the writers gave him as much attention as they did in the original Dragon Ball, he'd probably be one of the strongest characters in the show. I mean, he's already the most badass, rivaling Vegeta.
Yamcha is underrated in the series, but in games he is definitely broken
Make Yamcha Relevant Again.
Spirit ball makes the shot
Hated seeing the hate for yamcha after Z started he was legit my favorite character in DragonBall

“I’m not sure there are words to describe the damage you can do with raw spirit energy!”
Y’know what, given all the following context of Z, GT, Super and Heroes, I’ll give that one to him
Damn the spirit ball is op
I don't know if it was intentional or not, but watching at this video you can notice how Yamcha improved his technique by increasing the amount of energy and also the speed and control of the ball.
Old art style and animation is just so much better than super.
Hero/Kame was honestly impressed with him with that move. Yamcha may have bad luck, but he is honestly skilled and creative. Even someone else was impressed in the end.

he did fight Kid Buu, in otherworld.
HOPEfully we get to see his WOLF fang FIST

Yamcha should have been in the tournament of Power instead of Roshi.
Spirit ball was legit the coolest attack I've ever seen in dragonball too this day
The first Spirit Ball was the best one, best animation easily
When Dragonball z was all about techniques rather than energy beam. Miss those old days were z-fighters meant something.
"but don't feel bad she's one tough cookie!"
i think now people are forgetting he has trained with Gohan and Piccolo in the Super comic currently so I would bet hes surpassed Tien and Krillin, even as much as they have trained neither have trained with Gohan and Piccolo and Yamcha trained with the both of them in order to prepare for Moros Invasion. So considering he supposedly wasnt training after the Cell Games or either training in secret he gained a shitload of power in order to take out 3 of those Criminals and then still go toe to toe against Zayougi despite Zayougi beginning to get the better of him in the end, but just the fact that he didnt get beat down badly and was still standing strong by the time Goku arrived to help shows he has gained a massive increase of power.
Android 18 saying Yamcha a washed up fighter is annoying at least Yamcha had pride and didn’t give up and wasn’t a coward when fighting someone stronger
seing vegeta smirk at yamchas improvement is rather nice to see.
Yamcha joins every fight with smile and confident. Then lose.
3:26 Yamcha says Spirit Bomb. Which actually would be a fitting name for a Giant Spirit Ball since it does detonate on Impact. He just uses his own spirit energy and not the worlds
The spirit ball is like a mini version of the spirit bomb that can be controlled with your hands after being launched to the enemy. One of the most underrated techniques in the dragon ball universe and is unique to Yamcha.
The baseball episode in Super was made for Yamcha.
6:06 18 is savage AF lol.
Edit: 6:46 Dang, guy can't catch a break.
Yamcha will always be cool for me. I watched the return of Goku and friends segment countless times
the sheer discipline the user needs to control the energy's movement after losing contact

Honestly, that first clip is pretty impressive when you consider that, at that point, Kami (disguised as Hero) was the 3rd strongest character in the series behind Piccolo and Goku.
It's not the fact that Yamcha wasn't the strongest, but he WAS the strongest. He'd do anything for the Z fighters, even risk his own. Yamcha's pride is like no other. Besides, how come Krillin gets more love...?

Yamcha is a very underrated character. He deserves respect.
Yamcha was able to land a hit on Kami himself. Now, he's neen reduced to nothing like the human fighters.
