So beautiful! I have a small candle business and I make super intricate layered pillar candles. They take hours and hours to just make one and it's become so daunting. I've been looking for more "simple" candles to add to my collection and my candles are themed around the beach. Every time I've tried to make a candle adding shells or pebbles and what not, I always end up with bubbles. Turns out I was pouring way too cold into a cold metal or cold plastic mold! Thank you for sharing your craft with all of us and I'm going to pick up a bag of sea glass later today! Gorgeous candles. Edit: also wanted to add that I would have never ever thought to hit it with the heat gun afterwards! I always wondered how such a textured and transparent candle like this could be achieved! Another problem of mine was the opacity and not being able to see whatever I added.
This is simply the best candle making video on UA-cam. Very helpful, clear and easy to follow. I'm charged up now to make a sea glass candle! Thank you both very much
Hi I enjoyed seeing your sea candle video can you please tell me the melting temperature and the pouring temperature's and temperature to add scents and colour many thanks kind regards John from the UK
Hi John, We have the complete how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/diy-candle-making-how-to-make-a-sea-glass-candle/ You want the wax to reach a temperature of 210°F before adding the translucent crystals, scent, and color. Once blended you can go ahead and pour. Hope that helps, Jennifer & Kitty
Hi Ladies, watching from the future lol. Awesome beginner tutorial. I am wanting to start making my candles now :) where do you get the sea glass please?
Great question! Yes, you will want to use Pillar Candle Wax, also called Premium Wax For Pillars. It holds its shape without a container. Here's the written how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/diy-candle-making-how-to-make-a-sea-glass-candle/ Cheers, Jennifer & Ktity
If you are having trouble finding the embedding mold set you can just buy two separate molds, one for the inner candle part (3 inch mold) and one for the outer candle part (4 inch mold). Here's a complete how-to we did as a guest blog post: www.kenarry.com/sea-glass-candle-make-embedded-candle/ J&K
Hello sisters!!! Waaaaoooo that is amazing 😍. May i know where can i buy translucent crystal additive? I' been all over the internet and all that they show is pueces of glass. Thanks for yor video.
Hi Marisol, Sorry you are having trouble finding the Translucent Crystal Additive. We found this supplier online but we have never ordered from them: www.candlesandsupplies.com/Translucent-Crystals Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Thanks for the input. We are careful to pour at the temperature recommended on the wax. This wax calls for the higher temperature. It is normal to have divots form as the wax cools and shrinks. No worries, just melt and repour to fill them! Cheers, J&K
Great Video, I would love to try this, but can you tell me where did you get your Yaley 2 part molds and or the dimensions of each? I can not wait to try this!
Thanks so much! The two-part mold is getting hard to find but you can use two separate molds, one for the inner candle part (3 inch mold) and one for the outer candle part (4 inch mold). Here's the complete how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/diy-candle-making-how-to-make-a-sea-glass-candle/ Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Hi K & J, what a wonderful idea and a great outcome! What happens after the core candle has been used and burnt down to the bottom, do you have to start from the beginning with the moulds again or is there enough of the wax around the sea glass holding it together and just fill in the centre by pouring a new core into the outer part? I think it would be much safer if you poured the wax while you were standing then you'd have more control over the pour and less spillage.
Hmmm....we're not really sure if you could pour a new candle inside the outer core. It would be hard to get the wick inside and the hot wax would melt the outer core as you poured it. Maybe you could nestle a glass candle inside. J&K
Question? The table with all of your art supplies on top of it that's behind you. Where did you get it or what is it called? I'm looking for something just like it. Thank you!!
Hi Beth, That is a one-of-a-kind piece made for a TV show called Snoops that Jennifer worked on. When the show closed, she bought it from the props department. Isn't it cool!? Kitty
Sorry for the delay, John. We have been trying to source the Translucent Crystals. The ones we used were from Yaley Candle Company. They sold their business to Vine Wick Candle Company vinewickcandle.com/ but we can't find the crystals on their website. Perhaps you can call them and see if they still have the crystals available. You can make the candle without the additive, but if you use a strong color wax it might not be as translucent as ours. Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Yes! That is why we chose a wick that fits the size of the inner candle. So it won't burn wide enough to reach the seaglass. The candle will burn down the middle. J&K
Great question! The wick size (width) determines how much of the center of the candle will melt down. When this candle burns, just the center melts and the sides with the sea glass remain intact. Here's the written how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/diy-candle-making-how-to-make-a-sea-glass-candle/ Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty
Hi Jenn, You can find candle mold sealer putty at craft stores. It looks like this: www.michaels.com/mold-sealers-by-artminds/10366582.html If you don't have mold sealer, you can try sticky putty. We have had success with the yellow or blue putty that you use to hang posters in a dorm room. Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty

Hi Jodi, So sorry you are having trouble finding the translucent crystal additive. We found two options for sale online. This one looks similar to the powdery type we used: www.candlesandsupplies.net/Translucent-Crystals We also found this type that comes in pellets: www.createforless.com/CountryLaneCandleTranslucentCrystals4oz/pid50213.aspx We have not tried either of these brands, but they both sound like the right stuff. Good luck and let us know which one you tried and how out worked out! Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty
We used Premium Candle Wax For Pillars with a Translucent Candle Wax Additive. Here's a complete how-to we did as a guest blog post: www.kenarry.com/sea-glass-candle-make-embedded-candle/ Hope that helps! J&K
Hi Anna, The additive is called "Translucent Crystals Additive." We have a complete written how-to on our blog: runningwithsisters.com/diy-candle-making-how-to-make-a-sea-glass-candle/ It helps make the wax a little more clear so you can see the sea glass that is inside the wax. Here's a page that describes it: www.yaley.com/show_Products.asp?ID=578&Name=Translucent+Crystals But you can make the candle without it. Hope that helps! Jennifer & Kitty
Great and important question! The way we constructed the candle, the sea glass and shells are only around the outside of the candle. The center is just wax. The size of the wick creates a flame that only heats and melts the center wax part of the candle. Cheers, Jennifer & Kitty
Thank u so much. Your candle looks awesome 👌 👏. What I like about you both is how you both explain the steps so clearly. God bless you both.

Lovely candle. Is it ok to burn with the sea glass? Will the glass catch fire?
Yes! That is why we chose a wick that fits the size of the inner candle. So it won't burn wide enough to reach the seaglass. The candle will burn down the middle.
J&K
It would have to get really got to catch glass on fire.🤦♀️
all good, you can use oil to unmold and for better presentation rounding the boards, very nice, congratulations!

Are you supposed to light it? Doesn’t the sea-glass fall when the candle goes down?
