This city, the cradel of Portugal, was founded in the 9th century by Vímara Peres that called it Vimaranis, he conquered the region to the moors and was the first count of Portucale.

It's a shame you didn't go inside the palace. I am pretty sure, you can't film in there, but it is one of the most beautiful palaces in Portugal. Also, did you see the D. Afonso Henriques statue ?
