    I just bought this saw on Sunday and I started using it Monday morning on the job I have other Dewalt tools that take the 20vmax batteries so I got lucky there so far I have cut well over 500 ft. of base board and I have gone through 4 battery charges, This saw is just fantastic in the 3 days that I have used it it has worked flawlessly and is very accurate , the real test will start tomorrow as I have a very big job starting in a very high end house with all red oak base and crown , I will let you know how that works out, But so far I love this saw and am more than likely going to retire my corded dewalt miter and buy one more of these I give it five 5 stars

      Well I'm at the new job sight and so far have hung just over 100' of crown and every cut is spot on and yes the portability of this saw is fantastic and is a major selling feature if you ask me, My helper was on me to cut out early today and go buy him one that's how much he loves it, Seems how he has been with me going on 12 years I think I might go get him one tonight

    Lug Nut,
    I went ahead and bought the saw bare tool and then bought two 5ah batteries and a charger on ebay for a really good price. I've been using it exclusively for the past week to cut casing and 3 1/4" base for seven houses I'm trimming out and love the fact that I don't have to deal with a generator anymore. The saw is very well built and has plenty of power but it does have a few short comings. The light is not bright enough to effectively use as a guide unless it is dark, the spring for the angle lock is so strong that it is very difficult to adjust to any angle other than the preset detents. I will sum it up like this, if I had access to power or if I was cutting crown or base wider than 3 1/4" I would use my DW705 12" because it would be faster and easier, but in a location without power and installing smaller material I will stick with this cordless saw.

      +Riptide 10x Try adjusting the nut under the thumb lock. I have one that I adjust on my DW712 8-1/2". Unfortunately that model is discontinued. Best saw that I have owned so far. Blows the 12" out of the water! I saw this saw and was curious about buying it but was concerned about the "battery" and the power of the motor. Battery saws just sound p**sy!

      Jeff,
      The battery life (I bought two 5 ah batteries) build quality and motor power are great, it's just that adjusting to custom prescision angles are my problem, along with cutting 3 1/4" baseboard to the right side.

    • @the_stixXx
      @the_stixXx 8 років тому

      +Riptide 10x Thanks for the response. Do you mean adjusting the bevel (rear adjustment) when precision angles are needed or are you referencing the thumb lock. Please elaborate And cutting to the right? Do you mean the fact that it is a "single bevel" saw? I'm used to that. My 712 is single bevel and I actually prefer that. Less adjusting as the saw wears and becomes out of wack.

      +Jeff Stengel
      Yes, sort of the thumb lock, but not exactly, I loosened the thumb lock tension but it didn't really affect the detent spring any. Adjusting my saw to any angle other than a detent preset is a PITA, and if you need to move it 1 degree past a detent forget it. I mainly do production installation with 3 1/4" base board and it's much faster when you can cut it standing against the fence and don't have to flip it around.

    This saw is AWESOME!
    I wish they would make a brushless 10" one. Probably power issues on the 18/20v battery for 10" saw...
    Oddly they include the slow (lower end charger), but if you're already in the dewalt 20v platform, then you probably already have multiple 20v batteries and chargers, so no biggie.

    • @brian-mc8tq
      @brian-mc8tq 9 років тому

      Andrew Kim they could go with their 40v battery for the 10"

    • @AK-lc8cp
      @AK-lc8cp 9 років тому

      Or do what makita does and stack their 20v batteries so you don't need a new battery platform..

    Love your videos guys, just the right amount of humor and expertise. Here in Oregon we are just about ready to ramp up the work load for spring. This summer we are looking for ways to save time and money, it appears this may be the product for us (CCM Property Maintenance and Remodel) among the many new products that Dewalt has come out with. By the way I love the new Dewalt mini blower, works so well for blowing out our vans (in literally 30 seconds) and blowing off all our tools before we put them back into the vehicles. Do you have a review of that blower? I love mine it saves us so much time it's ridiculous. Love, Love, Love your videos! Blessings gentlemen!

    It would have been nice if you had cut some 3 1/4" baseboard against the fence or some other real finish carpentry type applications.

    How well does it trap saw dust? Need a sliding miter for a basement workspace and don’t want a ton of sawdust flying around. Have ready tried a Kobalt and Ryobi with no luck.

      +Riptide 10x You may want to pickup a couple extra batteries but I think it will work great for daily use. Many jobs really don't require a 10" or 12" saw.

    Issue is the dust extractor will not run as required like most chopsaws and hoovers can. So with this you have to keep turning on and off . Ok, Buy a battery hoover etc .But again, will they auto turn on and off et c?

    great machine for my type of work installing retractable screen doors and window and patio door screen. But the frigging thing is as pricey as a regular 12" electric model. For 500 bucks me thinks the larger is best....cheers

    Has Dewalt released any adapters for this saw to plug it into an outlet? Does the blade slow down as the battery gets low? Plan on using this in a small hobby shop so I really would rather plug it in if possible.

    • @Lugnutfilms
      @Lugnutfilms  6 років тому

      +Mongoose Motovlog there are no adapters that I'm aware of. When the battery is low the blade will not be able to complete the cut.

    Waaaay overpriced to get the portability feature that battery operation affords, and for a 7 1/4" single-bevel job.
    I mean, my god Dewalt, we've long since already had your 20 volt max battery packs running a whole slew of your other tools that we invested in. The least you could do is award that kind of loyalty by reasonably pricing this thing.
    GREED!!

    • @TheVelluch
      @TheVelluch 8 років тому +1

      +netterstyl I actually think it a pretty good deal. I just bought the bare tool version for $298. When you use it and see how well its made the price seems good. If it was any cheaper it would be weaker, have more plastic, and wouldn't slide.
