I have the 631 and I love it.
What a beautiful sound!
Thanks Paulie!
Have a good holiday.

Hello Steve,
Just a little correction: it is not a cooper bell, neither goldbrass bell. The vintage 631 mounts a red brass/rose brass bell. ;-)
Thanks for all your videos. Very helpful.
Steve, I wish you would play-test more horns and more regularly if this is the only way we get to hear your beautiful horn playing. Keep up the good work. BTW, I *was* looking at some Carol Brass horns at your website UNTIL I got notice that my employer will be sending out furlough notices before too long. This darn COVID-19...
Thanks for the kind words Doc. Are you looking for a CarolBrass Flugel? Have you thought about the Euro Bell I have two that I can discount for you.
HornTrader I was actually looking at some trumpets. I am OK in the flugelhorn department, but thank you for asking. 👍

I'm getting a Flugelhorn this year for Christmas to add to my collection. Any tips you can give me for a first time player of the horn ?
Make sure your mouthpiece seats in side the receiver with no wobble.
Have Fun!

I just got one of these from the daughter of an old trumpeter friend who recently died. Its not in great shape. Missing valve springs, pads, and has a few dings and dents.. Do you know where i can source springs?
The horn in your video is really beautiful, looks immaculate.
A Good Repair man should have have springs and take out the dents. Where do you live?
@@HornTrader I’m in the Caribbean - St Vincent and the Grenadines. Not as easy to have repairs here, so tend to do the basics myself.
I play one of these with a Denis Wick 4fl mouth piece. Is it the correct taper for the instrument ? Love the channel.

I'm not sure ......... If it seats a little more than half the length of the shank and there is no wobble then I think you're in good shape.

Is this any better than the Carol Brass 6200 scratched bell?
CSMedia The CarolBrass 6200 SLB is comparable but at 1/3 the cost of the Yamaha 631 (new prices)
is this horn still for sale?
That horn is long gone. I can get you a very Nice Scratched brass Lacquer CarolBrass Flugel for $1400
It is on the HornTrader Site in the flugel section. There's a youtube on that instrument as well on the site.
