I totally agree with the number of Mythics. I am guessing it is about average for the number of packs you have. 3 Mythics for 18 packs. The etched cards are getting better, but I am not sure that I like getting one in every set pack. I like the way they made the Etched cards special in the last two sets. It looks like the dragon Mythics are the chase cards, and if they are this hard to hit, then they will retain value.
How Rudy doesn't realize that the second to last cards in the first two packs have uncut corners, and then goes on to talk about card quality is priceless
Sure you get more rares or mythics per pack, but are they even worth anything? Quick glance over at commander legends 1, where you could easily get 4 rares in 1 pack, and most of the commander rares are pennies and might as well be uncommons. The reason why people want that chase card like Jeweled Lotus is to know that at least something can be of value. 18 packs is hard to justify when most of it is still going to be bulk anyway.
Couldn’t agree more. And if you support your LGS and buy in store you get slammed. The set boosters cost the same as New Capenna for almost half the product.

Personally, and being a Commander player, I like the new set booster format, it does seem to reduce the amount of ballast per pack. I've recently returned to MTG after leaving the hobby during my mid teens and gotten myself up to speed (and built up my collection) by buying bundles and a booster box or two from sets from over the past couple years, and ended up with a ton on bulk common and uncommon cards which I'll only ever use should I play pauper. Sorry this time I have to respectfully disagree. Lett's think this through: The amount of rares seems to be increased, ok. This just means that the ratio has changed, meaning all in all rares are getting less and less rare. Either they start reducing this in the following sets or there is going to be a future set, with underperforming rares and than the fold of this will hit the market. Reminds me of the strixhaven bonus cards. Of course this depends on the total number of set boxes, but it smells like inflation to me. If you have 3 rares in a pack guess what they are no longer rare...
Agree with you. Another thing Rudy is missing is that one of the rare/mythic cards in the packs is usually from the Commander decks. Many of them are very low value because they are just as rare as uncommon and most common cards in those decks. In a draft booster box, you might get 6-8 less rare/mythic cards, but every single one will be from the main Baldur's Gate set and have a much higher likelihood of being valuable (like the rare dual lands that he didn't get at all in the 1st set booster box).
Rudy has hit maximum shill with this terrible video. He acts completely surprised and overwhelmed about gilded foil uncommons (which he put up near the mythics to make them seem useful or valuable, when they are neither), he has no idea (or pretends not to understand) that the set boosters have a much lower chance of pulling mythics, due to the dedicated legendary creature slot which has very few mythic hits, and then he constantly talks up how they "got rid of the bulk" (which they didn't, you can see him stacking all of it on the bottom right), and then actually talks about how great it is that you only get 18 packs, because "you're getting 2-3 rares per pack". Never mind that the 2-3 rares per pack is not a guaranteed number, and in those 18 packs, you now have a lowered chance to pull mythics (aka, actual money cards). Rudy, I get that you need to sell your position, but don't blow smoke up our butts, or you are going to end up with a face full of digested taco.
I wish I could double like this comment. Summed it up perfect. I’ve heard of at least 4 boxes now from people close to me that didn’t get a single crowd land. 3 mythics is not ok when I’ve averaged 5-7 in every set box before this.

The Ancient dragons are the chase cards, esp that OP Copper, with a few rares starting out hot. Those mythic dragons are going to get more expensive once people realize how rare they actually are.
I wish they would seed packs with actual Signed Art Cards, not stamps. Maybe one of each art card with the actual Artists signature. Great collector item.
In the previous CL boxes you got 4-6 mythics and the chance for a big hit of mana drain, tutor, lotus... Hell scoll rack These mythics seemed light and lacking though it's just the two boxes and the red dragon seems to bed chase crd
You get 15 cards per pack, as opposed to the normal 12, so the packs are a little larger. The first box is usually how my pulls look in a normal set box, so I tend to stay away from them. My best pulls are from Collector Boosters, but if I can't find them, the Draft boxes usually give me better rares and mythics. I got a set box of MH2 and only pulled one fetch land. Might just be that I have shit luck, but I'm generally dissatisfied by Set boosters. My list pulls are decent, but I've never gotten anything balls to the walls like Scroll Rack. I have heard that they tightened it up a bit in the last few sets though.
Don't do a set box man, if you really want to then I'd suggest you go and look at the how the pack slots break down. I'd suggest a draft box if you really want to crack something or if you can pony up for it, a collectors box would give you the best chance at recouping your money.
@@TormentZero Fair enough, just a warning that you will get a TON of bulk rares from the 3 legendary/background slots in each pack. only 2 slots of the set booster packs have a chance at the main set R/M's ONLY.
Opened 1 and got 40 rares, 5 mythics. 2 of the mythics were list cards, and all 5 BB lands. 30 pack regular set boxes I see generally qvg 48 to 54 rares where 5 to 6 of that number are mythic. By comparison you get a LOT more per pack with the CL2 packs.
Pics or it didn’t happen. That would be a god box and someone earlier made a more convincing argument that they opened it already. These boxes are designed to rip us off, cause weenies like you let WOTC do that to us with a smile on your face
@@scottgleason5758 No need for name calling. I have not sorted the cards i opened from that box. I could take pictures, save them to a Google drive and post the link in the comments, but I don't think you would believe me unless I actually took a video of myself opening the box. The truth is I pulled 37 rares, 4 mythics, 1 rare from the list (Windborn Muse), and 1 mythic from the list (Gissa and Geralf). A lot of the other comments of people who opened set boxes are reporting around the same number range 39 to 43 rares / mythics. Even though you are only getting 18 packs instead of the 30 you would in a standard set like Streets of New Capenna, those packs have 12 cards while, the Baldur's packs have 15. In my experiences from a standard set box, I have averaged anywhere between 48 to 54 rares / mythics. If you take the avg of that range 51 and divide it by the # of packs 30, you will get a result of 1.7. This means that every other pack will have a chance at a 2nd rare, and every 5th pack has a chance at a 3rd rare. If you take the avg of the range given for the Baldur set packs 41 and divide that by # of packs 18, you will get a result of 2.278. This means every pack should have a chance at 2 rares, and every 4th pack will have the chance at 3 rares. Again this is just a general average, due to variance you will have some packs that have 4 rares thanks to the list slot. Based on those calculations, it matches up with what Rudy has been saying. Even though the packs per box are fewer, you are getting a LOT LESS chaff than you would otherwise from the copious commons and uncommons you usually would get.
My set box had a lot of good stuff, but no borderless/extended art cards (I'm not sure it's supposed to have 1-2 of them), none of the good uncommon cards, and none of the land cycle. That being said, the List slot is great: Vampiric Tutor, Sorin Markov, Repay in Kind, Outlaws' Merriment, Shivan's Gorge. Also got 3 of the Dragons and Oghama.
Reading all these comments hating on this or any product is so funny as someone who came to magic from Pokémon. So many people are all butthurt that the opened value of the cards doesn’t equate to more value than keeping it sealed. You all have been running high on life way to long. I have a feeling more and more that magic is gonna start doing the same thing as Pokémon. As someone with a closet full of bulk Pokémon that’s worth nothing I still don’t regret it. Buy packs and open them because you like the thrill and are willing to put it down to chance. No one should be expecting every box to be a banger and generate way more value. The people complaining about the EV of a product should really just find a different hobby.

Also to answer Rudy’s question, draft booster boxes are still 20 card packs because when you draft Commander legends you take two cards every pick.
Yeah, draft was fun. I gotta do it again.
Rarity Ladder - Common Uncommon Rare Mythic
New Rarity Ladder - Common Common Common Mythic
Wonderful...
I wish they would seed packs with actual Signed Art Cards, not stamps. Maybe one of each art card with the actual Artists signature. Great collector item.
8:51 maybe the track printing did get mest up they did jst change the boxes
Nice box opening
Sick List cards!
Bought 2 set booster and got junk 1 set booster had only 1 mythic felt so mad I bought this but it is what it is
Honestly, I really like the set. I enjoyed opening AFR, so I am a bit biased. I really want to get my hands on a set box if I am able to.
Don't do a set box man, if you really want to then I'd suggest you go and look at the how the pack slots break down.
I'd suggest a draft box if you really want to crack something or if you can pony up for it, a collectors box would give you the best chance at recouping your money.
@@jacobriggs4461 draft and set boxes are same price right now. If I am choosing between the two, personally I am taking the set box.
Where the hell are you getting a 30 pack set booster box of CL2. Stop lying.
@@extrainches he was saying that in the old 30 pack set boosters you avg 48 to 54 rares where 5 to 6 of those are mythic.
Pics or it didn’t happen. That would be a god box and someone earlier made a more convincing argument that they opened it already. These boxes are designed to rip us off, cause weenies like you let WOTC do that to us with a smile on your face
@@saberx4732 Exactly! Sorry if I didn't make it clear. 🙂
Omg you got a foil plains. Holy shit, the holy grail of magic the yugliohing
wow those art cards
Well...I'm sold
