    Superb trip you had! What a truly memorable and interesting adventure to have together, some of the scenery was incredible on the video, love how it's not all about the riding, off exploring on foot too. Respect.

    You confused Chalten with Chaiten, Chalten is where you were, in Argentina, Chaiten is in Chile, near Puerto Montt. The music gets annoying after a while, but good video anyway!

    What a trip!! Great video too. I'm originally from Argentina (been in USA 50+ years), have not been back in many years, but would love to return and see it from a moto someday. You made this old Porteño homesick =)

    How often do you find a fuel station as you go south? What is the longest you've been without finding fuel?

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  2 роки тому +1

      There were only a couple spots that were really stressful but otherwise we planned accordingly. We brought spare fuel bags with use to fill up with extra fuel just in case but never needed them. Just make sure to look at the GPS for fuel stations and read forums on certain sections

    I saw your TAT video first and then this - great stuff! I am planning to ride the entire TAT this year, but I will be solo, and am a bit jealous of you guys' comaraderie. I'll be taking a DRZ400 for the TAT but for S.A. a DR650 or KLR650 is a better choice. I know that other people asked this, but could you tell us where you rented the bikes and how much it cost, including the one-way destination and them picking the bike up for return? I think other people would appreciate that info since it is a critical fact to know for planning and budgeting a similar journey. Good work guys, I like your balanced mix of excellent video and still photos, and the balance of the music and motor sounds. Your humor and joy of adventure comes across too ...

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  6 років тому +2

      Thanks for the note! For the TAT, we had 2x DR650s and a WR250R that we own. We drove one way across and then shipped the bikes home. For Patagonia, we ended up doing a one way rental of KLR650s in Santiago to Ushuaia. We used ride-chile...they were good, we did have some issues with one of the bikes but they pulled through and helped. I think the total one way rental including drop off ended up being close to $3500? It just ended up being much easier to rent than shipping our bikes or buying bikes there. I think its the way to go as you will tear those bikes up with all the long miles of washboard dirt roads.

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  5 років тому +4

      We ended up doing a one way rental from Santiago to Usuaia. It was just much easier and about the same price as shipping and paperwork for our bikes back home.

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  6 років тому +2

      Thanks! We ended up renting KLR650s. It was the most costly option but the easiest. We looked into shipping our bikes or buying and selling bikes there...in both scenarios it ended up getting too complicated, so we just rented. Most rental companies have a one way rental option for a pick up fee.

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  4 роки тому

      We did a one way rental in Santiago to Ushuaia. After looking at all the options that was the best. And with the miles of washboard road, you will want a rental vs your own. I think it was about $2,500 - $3k each US dollar. Wasn't cheap but the alternatives weren't either.

    Amazing, beautiful video and I bet you had a great experience. I just have one question for you guys, what time of the year (month) did you guys go? To me it seemed you went around the end of March mainly because I didn't see much traffic and people. In summer that road is packed.
    Me and a group of friends want to do the same trip but at the end of March of this year since there is not much people and accommodations are a lot cheaper. Also the weather is not as hot as it is in summer time.
    I would really appreciate your answer to my question

      We went in the middle of November....I wish we had gone when it was a little warmer. Most days were fine but a several days were between 40F - 50F and rainy. But other than that it was amazing. We took mostly backroads when we could and most of the time we didnt come across many people.

    which bike do you prefer between the klr and DR?

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  4 роки тому +2

      DR650 by far. We all felt the DR was more nimble, better built, and more reliable. However i will say the KLR 650 was better at long distance and more comfortable.

    hi there great trip i have a few questions did you buy the bikes and what did you do with them in ushuaia as i can see you departed by plane from there?

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  6 років тому +1

      We rented bikes as we felt it was the best solution. We looked into shipping ours from the states or buying them in Chile. At the end of the day renting made the most sense and happy we went that route. We did a one way rental, so dropped off in Ushuaia and flew home.

    • @1ohiggins
      @1ohiggins 6 років тому

      thanks ramine, appreciate your reply. if you dont mind asking which company did you use and how much per bike including "one way" drop off fees in ushuaia?

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  6 років тому

      We used Ride Chile , I want to say it was around $2500 all in per bike including pick up fees. They were good people and I liked dealing with them.

    • @1ohiggins
      @1ohiggins 6 років тому

      fantastic thanks a lot for the info. do you know if they have daily ferries in ushuaia to cross the beagle to puerto williams?

    • @Ramine.m
      @Ramine.m  6 років тому +1

      I have no clue...plus it probably changes monthly. Your best bet is to look that up a month before you go and plan out the schedule. But things will happen and locals will be your best resource for how to get from point to point. best of luck!
