Thanks Andy. I have watched several Commando 8 reviews and was quite tempted. You covered the same basic stuff but somehow managed to make me realise its shortcomings far better. I'm actually looking for a smaller radio with shorter throws than my X9D which is the opposite to you but you still made me realise this is not the radio for me. Good job. Thanks.
I think the tango 2 is the one to go for or the zorro
The only reason I stayed back from getting DJI is coz lack of osd support. Now that we have it let’s dig in.

There's definitely a barrier to go through to get on with pinching, I always thumbed but after regressing while learning to pinch I do think ultimately it's better.
Yeah I can totally see the benefits on why it is better but I think with me you just can't teach an old dog New tricks. Like I say 30 years flying full-size futaba radios and my shaky heavy hands I can't seem to do it but more power to people that can

When I started flying RC planes, I used to pinch the sticks. After a while, I went to thumbing, because it felt better. Then I started flying RC helicopters, and thumbing no longer felt good. My thumbs start shaking when I get nervous, which happened, when the rotor spun up 😬
So I went back to pinching, which in hindsight was a good decision. Now I also prefer the loose stick-tension on the Nirvana and the Jumper T-Light and probably the Radiomaster TX16s MK2, when it arrives 😉
But still, I also prefer a little more massive TX. With the Jumper it feels like just playing a toy.
Yeah this is the problem I can't fly well at all when I pinch and the sticks on this are too lite on the thumbs for me

I wonder if you can add some kind of ''inner dead zone'' like on xbox/ps controllers to negate the shakes? Failing that add more resistance on the pots themselves?
Yes you can add DeadZone in the transmitter and betaflight I just didn't add enough

I shake as well, prefer my TX16S as daily driver and TX12 as a back up

Some of it is my hands because of a medical condition. (General anxiety disorder and PTSD and the medication for it) but go and check out bot grinders review you and see what he says because I've realised it's not all me
@@AndyRCchannel Honestly I don't care about the radio I've got a Jumper T-Lite and it's fine for a sh|tty pilot like me :D ! I just follow most of your uploads! Sorry to hear about the condition, try weed instead of those medications, I bet my balls your hands will be firm as hell (you might crash a little bit more often thou!)

I've broken a switch on my zorro... darn!
But I like the smaller radios. Main reason is the stick travel being smaller (I own a QX7)
Sorry to hear that. Yeah it's really frustrating especially on older radios where they don't sell the bespoke switches any more such as the x9d 2019. I'd like to see a larger transmitter trialed with these buttons and rockers

That "canvas mode" is really cool for long range setups. If you plan to walk us through that, that would be amazing!

Regarding shaky hands, u could experiment?, like if fpv is way different than los, why not try mode2? I started off mode2 pinching and having to watch the pitch osd element, then mode2 thumbs to mode3 thumbs.
I can fly mode two in fact I have to pinch when I fly mode too but I just fly mode one better with thumbs and a bigger transmitter that's the reality of it sadly

@@adeyinkabrasil4426 well I’ve only had it about 2 weeks and the hall gimbals tote need some lubeage. If you’re a battery life snob it could be a problem but I haven’t run out of juice on the field. Plus it’s so easy to just connect the 2S Lipo but I always bring my 20k mah power bank if needed.

The commando 8 was released yesterday. I was told by ifligjt that was the official release date. So every review you have seen up until yesterday was a pre production unit

Dislikes are actually still positive because UA-cam sees it as any opinion is a good opinion not to mention it doesn't negatively affect the views or ranking in the algorithm even more so they don't display the dislikes so your comment and really your opinion is kind of useless. 🤷♂
