During rehab after a hip replacement, it's important to make sure your hip stays happy. Overdoing it can lead to more pain, more stiffness and delayed healing. Focusing on putting full weight through the surgical leg is goal number one to ensure walking is optimal. Then focusing on balance and strength can help to further unlock adventures.
Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, physical therapist and osteoarthritis specialist worked as a home health physical therapist seeing people after total knee and hip replacements prior to starting Keep the Adventure Alive. She has extensive experience in the acute recovery following a joint replacement.
Learn the three best movements to help supplement your hip replacement recovery so you can get back to the active life you love.

It’s amazing how much you feel in the third exercise even though the stance looks easy and the movements are so minimal!

Your videos are educational and informative. I am a runner and often find myself achy after getting back and sitting for a bit. Your techniques have really helped with some of the aches and pains!

On exercises #1 & 2, I feel myself "pushing" off the nonsurgical leg instead of using the surgical leg to do the work. Am I compensating? Thank you for this channel.
